Abstract

The government and schools have tried to strengthen the implementation of character education. However, there is no program to overcome radicalism. Everything returns to each individual, including the successful implementation of character education, which can at least minimize the influence of radicalism on the school environment. This study is intended to obtain a hypothetical model of Character-Based Leadership that can effectively affect the implementation of character education and efforts to combat radicalism. This research was conducted by studying phenomena that are part of the qualitative method. The object of this research is high school-level schools exposed to radicalism. The schools taken were two schools that had been exposed to radicalism. The subjects of this study were the principal, teachers, and students. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interview techniques, complemented by observation and document review. Data collection was carried out by several visits to the research field, cross-checking, primary data, and secondary data, complemented by literature studies and previous research. This study also meta-analyses several leadership models as a theoretical basis in producing character-based leadership components. The data processing of the results of this study was assisted by the NVIVO 12 Software to facilitate researchers in finding research results from so much field data. From the results of data analysis, researchers get many components of character values from character-based leadership, constructs, and frameworks in the implementation of character education. Finally, this study proposes the ideal character values possessed by someone who can be included in the category of character-based leadership who can become a leader in the implementation of character education and a leader who can prevent and overcome radicalism.

Abstract

The outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 requires Indonesia to make a new policy related to Distance Learning, in which students and teachers are able to interact over the internet without having to come to school. In this condition, teachers as an educator are required to be able to plan and manage the online classes in creative and innovative ways. It's important for educators to decide on a suitable model or media to build students' interest. The STEAM approach is used to facilitate online learning by leveraging the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics and fostering 21stcentury skills. This study analyzes pedagogical studies including models, media, and technology used in online learning. The methodology used was a literature study review with content analysis on the implementation of the STEAM approach from 2020 to 2022. The results of the analysis were interpreted using percentages and descriptive analysis to obtain conclusions. This study found that the learning model commonly used in the STEAM approach was Project-Based Learning with the expectation of improving students' thinking skills. The media and technology commonly used in online learning are Google Classroom and video conferencing such as Google Meetings or Zoom Meetings. The implementation of the STEAM approach shows a positive impact on increasing students' potential, such as improving learning outcomes and improving 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This article aims to discover and explain the relationship between pedagogical studies and teachers’ teaching performance, which can be reflected in students’ learning outcomes. This article can be helpful and add insight into pedagogical studies' role in improving teacher teaching performance. In writing this article, the researchers used a method that can be referred to as library research. In this library research, the researchers used the media to collect library materials, such as books, journals, articles, and the like, to support this research in solving problems. The result is that pedagogic studies, in this case, pedagogic competencies, are very important for a teacher because they can help improve a teacher’s performance. Pedagogic studies and a teacher’s teaching performance have a proportional relationship; the better the teacher's ability/competence in pedagogic studies, the better the teacher's teaching performance is. Pedagogic Competence is a fundamental ability that teachers must possess and has an essential influence on Indonesian education. This is because pedagogically competent teachers must determine the success and failure of a learning process that will affect students' future.
