Abstract

The article presents a marginal region mathematics teachers' perception of ICT as learning media and the type of ICT media used in mathematics classrooms. A survey was designed including two domains:  the usability and the importance of ICT. A questionnaire was administered to 84 mathematics teachers in marginal regions. The respondents were chosen conveniently based on their accessibility and availability. About 50% of marginal region mathematics teachers do not use ICT in teaching. The most common media used is Microsoft Office software to present teaching materials from internet or digital sources. Using the Rasch model, the data show that mathematics teachers' perception of the usage and importance of ICT as a media of mathematics learning can be categorized as 'medium' level. Mathematics teachers in the marginal regions consider ICT as mathematics learning media to be fairly important.

Abstract

Several factors influence the success of learning; one of them is the quality of textbooks. Textbooks have a pivotal role in learning, namely, representing the teacher's explanation in front of the class. Curricula have continuously changed because they are far from the expectations. In Indonesia, many schools have implemented an international curriculum to improve school quality. One of the curricula used is the Cambridge curriculum. This study analyzed the types of problems in the Cambridge and 2013 curriculum mathematics textbooks, especially on quadratic equations. This research utilized a six-dimensional analysis method which consists of mathematical activities, complexity level, answer form, contextual features, response types, and mathematical features. Furthermore, the data collection technique was carried out by analyzing and describing the types of questions in the 2013 curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum mathematics textbooks. The analysis focused on the quadratic equation topic in the 2013 curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum mathematics textbooks. The results shows that there is no difference between the types of problems in the 2013 curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum mathematics textbooks for quadratic equation topics. The framework of this study could be a reference for further research and used by mathematics textbook writers to create more diverse types of questions.

Abstract

This study describes the results of research on the implementation of the Quizizz application in learning with distance learning mode. It has three main objectives 1) to find out how to apply the Quizizz application as an assessment medium based on higher-order thinking skills; 2) the impact of the application of Quizizz as an assessment medium based on higher-order thinking skills on students' learning motivation; and 3) supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of Quizizz. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach and data were collected using observation, implementation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis was carried out by grouping and presenting the data of 69 respondents and drawing conclusions. The use of Quizizz as an assessment medium based on HOT skills is carried out during daily tests, mid-semester, and end-semester tests. Based on the data, it was obtained information that the level of student learning motivation using Quizizz media based on higher-order thinking skills showed an average of 69.91. Furthermore, the supporting factor for the application of Quizizz media is that students are familiar with the use of Quizizz and the many tasks available on Quizizz. The inhibiting factor is that the internet connection at the student's residence still tends to be less supportive of online distance learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the ability to construct proofs of perspective teacher mathematics students in basic geometrical lectures on the concepts of alignment, triangles, and concordance of two triangles. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method involving 35 prospective mathematics students at the Universitas PGRI Semarang. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method involving 35 students. The results of this study show that: (1) 28% of students sketched diagrams and used geometric labels appropriately on the constructed evidence; (2) 28.57% of students have the correct initial step of proof; (3) 28.57% of students can determine the exact conjecture that leads to the correct proof; (4) 25.71% of students are correct in compiling proof arguments by the correct postulate and theorem; (5) 25.71% of the thought flow process used by coherent students leads to valid evidence; and (6) 22.86% of students mastered theorems and concepts used in compiling constructing proof.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of instructional videos on an e-learning platform toward students' mathematical problem solving ability. This research employed the quantitative aproach and experimental research design. This study utilized a test instrument to determine students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Furthermore, a t-test was performed on the data that had fulfilled the prerequisite testings: the normality test and the homogeneity test. The results indicated that there was an effect of mathematics learning videos on the e-learning platform on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Students who watched the instructional videos had better mathematical problem solving abilities than students who did not watch the instructional videos.

Abstract

Wabah virus COVID-19 telah menyerang seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Kebijakan untuk melakukan kegiatan dirumah pun dikeluarkan termasuk pembelajaran daring. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis motivasi belajar matematika siswa dalam penerapan Edmodo di masa pandemi COVID-19. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitina ini adalah siswa kelas IX-F di SMP Dharma Pertiwi Depok sebanyak 33 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu angket motivasi belajar matematika dengan 18 pernyataan. Pernyataan tersebut digunakan untuk mengetahui tanggapan dari responden terkait motivasi belajar matematika dalam penerapan Edmodo dimasa pandemi COVID-19. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa kelas IX-F memiliki motivasi baik dalam pembelajaran matematika menggunakan aplikasi Edmodo dengan perolehan rata-rata presentase dari semua indikator sebesar 76,244%. Didukung juga oleh hasil wawancara kepada wali kelas sekaligus guru matematika kelas IX-F. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah siswa memiliki motivasi baik dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis Edmodo di masa pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan masalah matriks pada penerapan e-learning berbasis google classroom. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian ini mendeskriptifkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang dimiliki peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran matematika dengan bantuan google classroom. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas X Akuntansi di SMKN 1 Tambun Utara sebanyak 30 peserta didik pada masa covid-19 saat ini. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep peserta didik berbasis google classroom mampu memberikan pemahaman yang lebih terhadap materi matriks, ditunjukkan pada kemampuan tingkat tinggi dengan hasil presentase 67%, untuk lebih memperkuat hasil akan diambil sampel yaitu 6 peserta didik untuk melakukan wawancara dengan berbagai tingkat kemampuan. Namun demikian, peserta didik menunjukkan respon positif terhadap media pembelajaran google classroom.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis Autoplay Media Studio 8 pada materi turunan fungsi aljabar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model Borg&Gall yang dimodifikasi oleh Sugiyono dengan membatasi 8 tahap dari 10 tahap pengembangan. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 88 Jakarta dengan responden siswa kelas XI. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli materi dan ahli media dapat disimpulkan bahwa materi termasuk dalam kategori “sangat layak” dengan persentase 100%, sedangkan media pembelajaran interaktif termasuk dalam kategori “layak” dengan persentase 100%. Hasil uji coba kelompok kecil media pembelajaran interaktif yang dikembangkan “sangat layak” dengan persentase 58%, sedangkan hasil uji coba kelompok besar adalah “sangat layak” dengan persentase 71%. Siswa tertarik dengan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis Autoplay Media Studio 8 pada materi turunan fungsi aljabar. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa media ini cocok digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berisi penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti berdasarkan latar belakang pentingnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis bagi siswa. Salah satu kemampuan dasar yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa adalah kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis agar siswa mampu mengkontruksi makna dan maksud tujuan dari pembelajaran tersebut. Faktor yang dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yakni tingkat kepercayaan diri siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sampel penelitian yakni siswa kelas VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Darul Arqam Depok tahun ajaran 2020/2021 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik instrumen soal kemampuan pemahaman terhadap konsep matematis, angket kepercayaan diri siswa, lalu melakukan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepercayaan diri siswa kelas VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Darul Arqam Depok memiliki tiga tingkatan, yaitu tingkatan tinggi sebesar 15%, tingkatan sedang sebesar 66%, dan tingkatan rendah sebesar 19%. Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dapat dilihat dari tinggi rendahnya kepercayaan diri siswa, semakin tinggi kepercayaan diri siswa maka siswa akan semakin yakin untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan dengan pemahaman konsep matematis yang dimilikinya.
