Abstract

The test of critical thinking skills in specific topics in physics is still rarely. This study aimed to develop a specific test in critical thinking skills in the kinetic theory of gases (CTKTG) and also to assess the students' critical thinking skills. This study used the 4D method (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The CTKTG test was initially tested in four sample groups: interviews with an expert review (N = 3), professional physics teachers (N = 2), and graduate school students (N = 2), students from secondary schools (N = 29). The test was modified based on the revised results in the initial test. After that, the test was given to a group of students in class XI, who were science students (N = 55). The results showed that internal consistency from the CTKTG test was α = .89 (good). The implementation strategies and tactics are the most difficult aspect of critical thinking skill with a mean of 1.37 (very low) and basic classification is easiest with a mean of 2.84 (average). So, the findings showed that the CTKTG test can be used to measure students' critical thinking skills on the topic of the kinetic theory of gases.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability refers to cognitive processes to solve problems so that students are able to relate learning to everyday life. This achievement needs to be measured with valid and reliable instruments. Therefore, the research was conducted with the aim of characterizing the critical thinking test type two tier tests using the Rasch model. This study used a construction design and test validation. The construction process resulted in a critical thinking test of the two-tier type in the form of multiple choice on physics material for class X semester 1 which measured three basic aspects of critical thinking. The validation procedure was based on a trial exam taken by 146 students in Melawi Regency and a test evaluation by two experts. The findings demonstrated that the Aiken's V content validity analysis and the analysis utilizing item response theory both supported the validity of the critical thinking test. The analysis's findings demonstrated the validity and reliability of this test of critical thinking. The 23 created questions were found to be valid based on the results of the content validity test utilizing Aiken V. This test's empirical validity demonstrates that every item has a good level of difficulty and meets the Rasch model. The physics material used in the designed critical thinking test for class X semester 1 was valid, dependable, and had a good level of difficulty.

Abstract

This study was quantitative with a non-reactive or unobstructed approach using Time Series analysis with the ARIMA Box-Jenkins method on secondary data. From secondary data, 1, 3, and 6 monthly data simulations were carried out. Each simulation data was divided into two groups: the first group of initialization data for 2016 – 2019 and the second group of actual data for 2020. The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of forecasting results using the Box- Jenkins method on the number of pneumonia sufferers at Kamonji Public Health Center, Palu. The 1-monthly data simulation amounted to 48-time series as initialization data, obtained the appropriate forecasting model, namely ARIMA (1,1,1), then forecasting was done, and the results obtained were 289,166 patients with pneumonia. There are 16-time series simulations for 3-monthly data as initialization data and 6-monthly simulations totaling two-time series for initialization data, not finding a suitable model for forecasting. In conclusion, no data simulation gets the right result on the number of pneumonia sufferers because it gets more forecasting results than the actual data. Suggestions that can be given in this research are to use data that is more than five years old.
