Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) Knowing the characteristics of sago farmers in Meranti Islands Regency (2) Knowing the role of farmers in the development of people's sago agroindustry. The research method used is a survey method with the help of questionnaires that have been prepared. The population in this study amounted to 100 sample. The sampling technique used is the Purposive Sampling technique. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis to answer the research objectives. The results showed that the characteristics of sago farmers and the role of people's sago agro-industry development developed well despite the decline. The development of people's sago agroindustry is a very complex thing carried out by the local community and requires many actors involved in the process of harvesting sago tual until sago in the form of wet sago or dry sago so that it can be used as raw material for farmers to make processed sago products, and every decision that will be made by their sago farmers must discuss it with traditional leaders or community leaders, Because indigenous culture is still very good.
