Abstract

Banana peel (Musa paradisiaca) was banana processing waste with high availability but low utility as poultry feed. Utilization peel of banana as poultry feed required special processing methods to increase digestibility. This research was aimed to evaluate nutrient digestibility of banana peel with different processing methods on native chicken. Twenty birds native chicken aged 10 weeks with 600 g average body weight, banana peel, NaOH, tempeh yeast (Rhyzopus sp), bacterial starter (EM4) were used as research materials. The experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD) four treatments and fve replications: T0 (control: without treatment), T1 (banana peel soaked 10% NaOH), T2 (banana peel fermented by tempeh yeast), T3 (banana peel fermented by EM4). Parameters measured were digestibility of nutrients: dry matter digestibility (DMD), organic matter digestibility (OMD), and Crude Protein Digestibility (CPD). Obtained data were analyzed using SPSS software version 2.0., the signifcant different were tested by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Research results showed that the effect of different processeing methods of banana peel were signifcantly (P <0.05) on DMD, OMD and CPD. This research concluded that banana peel fermented by EM4 treatment have higher DMD, OMD and CPD compare than others.

Abstract

Dendeng giling merupakan salah satu produk olahan daging secara tradisional dibuat dari daging giling yang ditambah gula aren dan bumbu-bumbu lainya. Dendeng sudah memasyarakat dan digemari tua-muda sebagai bahan lauk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan gula aren dengan level yang berbeda terhadap kualitas organoleptik dendeng giling sapi. Materi penelitian dendeng dibuat dari daging sapi bali yang di beri garam, bumbu dan gula merah dengan kosentrasi yang berbeda yaitu 10% , 20%, dan 30% dan 40% sebagai perlakuan.  Data diolah dengan analisis sidik ragam berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dengan 15 orang panelis sebagai ulangan. Peubah yang diamati adalah kualitas  organoleptik dendeng berupa warna, citarasa, keempukan dan penerimaan umum panelis   (akseptabilitas). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penambahan gula aren pada dendeng giling daging sapi berpengaruh nyata (p<0.05) terhadap sifat organoleptik yaitu meningkatkan flavor (cita rasa) tetapi menurunkan warna, keempukan. Dan tidak berpengaruh terhadap akseptabilitas dendeng. Disimpulkan bahwa produk olahan dendeng giling daging sapi yang berkualitas baik adalah pada dendeng dengan penambahan gula aren 20% dimana mempunyai sifat organoleptik yang banyak disukai oleh panelis.Kata kunci: dendeng giling, daging sapi, gula aren

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat Internal UHO ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan peternak puyuh di Kelurahan Rahandouna dan Watubangga, Kota Kendari mengenai teknologi pengolahan limbah ternak puyuh. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan dan demonstrasi langsung (praktek di lapangan). Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah sosialisasi program, penyuluhan tentang manajemen pemeliharaan puyuh yang baik, potensi dan efek limbah peternakan puyuh, pelatihan teknik pengolahan kotoran puyuh menjadi biogas, dan rehabilitasi kandang puyuh. Berdasarkan kondisi yang dijumpai di lapangan, diketahui bahwa teknologi pengolahan limbah peternakan puyuh menjadi biogas sangat dibutuhkan peternak. Teknologi ini menjadi solusi atas polusi bau yang ditimbulkan peternakan puyuh di kawasan padat penduduk Kota Kendari. Proses monitoring dan pendampingan peternak dilakukan secara berkala guna menjamin keberlangsungan pelaksanaan program.Abstract: The purpose of the UHO Internal Society Partnership Program is to increase the understanding and knowledge of quail farmers in Rahandouna and Watubangga Sub-districts, Kendari City regarding quail livestock waste treatment technology. The method used was counseling and direct demonstration (practice in the field). Stages of activities carried out were program socialization, counseling about good management of quail maintenance, potential and effects of quail farm waste, training in processing quail manure into biogas, and rehabilitation of quail cages. Based on the conditions found in the field, it is known that the technology for processing quail livestock waste into biogas is very much needed by farmers. This technology is a solution to the odor pollution caused by quail farms in the densely populated area of Kendari City. The process of monitoring and assisting farmers is carried out regularly to ensure the sustainability of the program's implementation.

Abstract

Kendari City as the provincial capital has the highest incidence of positive covid-19 cases compared to other districts / cities in Southeast Sulawesi, Until April 23, 2020 there were 17 positive patients with Covid-19 who were undergoing treatment. This has implications for decreasing consumption and people's income because they cannot carry out normal activities. The steps taken by the central and local governments to combat the Covid-19 pandemic are by carrying out social distancing or social restrictions by limiting distances between individuals and avoiding crowds. Another government policy is the implementation of work from home (WFH) or activities from home for some employees and school children. This condition adversely affects the economy of Kendari city. One of the solutions offered is raising quail by utilizing the house yard. Quail maintenance is quite easy, does not require a large area and the maintenance system can be completed in a minimalist manner. Quail products consist of eggs and meat. Quail meat is processed into rica-rica quail meat and eggs are processed into quail egg nest tofu. KKN-THEMATIC aims to provide insights and knowledge about processing and marketing of processed quail products to the public. The method used is a persuasive participatory method with direct extension activities and practices. The results that have been achieved in this KKN-TEMATIK activity are an increase in the knowledge and understanding of breeders and the community in developing their business sustainability by making processed quail products, aswell as marketing management of processed quail products.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to examine the effect of giving African leaf juice (Vernonia amygdalina) on cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose of broiler chickens. The research was carried out in August-September 2021 at the broiler chicken coop unit of the Poultry Livestock Unit Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Halu Oleo University, Kendari. The research method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) using 100 broiler DOCs with 4 treatments and 4 replications and there were 16 experimental units. The treatments used in this study were P0 = without African leaf juice (control), P1 = 2cc of African leaf juice/1 liter of water in drinking water, P2 = 4cc of African leaf juice/1 liter of water in drinking water, P3 = 6cc of African leaf juice /1 liter of water in drinking water. The variables observed were cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose. The results of the study showed that administration of African leaf juice with levels of 2cc, 4cc, 6cc had no effect (P>0,05) on cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose of broiler chickens. Thus, it was concluded that the administration of African leaf juice had no effect on cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose of broiler chickens.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the carcass components of super free-range chicken on fermented corn cobs with different levels. This research was carried out in the laboratory of the Poultry Livestock Unit, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Halu Oleo Kendari. This study used 64 super free-range chickens using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely P0 (feed without fermented corn cobs) P1 (feed containing 2% fermented corn cobs) P2 (feed containing 4% fermented corn cobs) P3 (feed containing 4% fermented corn cobs) feed containing 6% fermented corn cobs) and 4 replications. The variables observed were slaughter weight, carcass percentage, carcass components, and abdominal fat. The data obtained were tabulated and analysed using analysis of variance. The use of fermented corn cobs in feed with a level of 2-6% does not significant effect (P>0.05) on slaughter weight, percentage of carcass, but significant effect (P<0,05) on abdominal fat of super native chicken.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat fertilitas dan daya tetas telur ayam kampung hasil inseminasi buatan menggunakan konsentrasi larutan NaCl fisiologis berbeda. Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 20unit percobaan. Perlakuan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah P0 = perlakuan tanpa pengencer, P1 = 1:2 ml larutan NaCl fisiologis, P2 = 1:2,5 ml larutan NaCl fisiologis, P3 = 1:3 ml larutan NaCl fisiologis, P4 = 1:3,5 ml larutan NaCl fisiologis. Parameter yang diamati adalah fertilitas, daya tetas dan daya hidup embrio. Abstract

The Ministry of Agriculture designated South Konawe Regency as a source area for Balinese cattle through Minister of Agriculture Decree (Kepmentan) No. 803/Kpts/PK.030/12/2016 where one of the buffer areas is Palangga District. The main problem for breeders in Palangga District is the limited forage during the dry season. In the dry season, breeders only provide minimal feed without paying attention to the quality, quantity, and efficiency of the provision. The lack of awareness among breeders regarding the provision and utilization of quality HPT in sufficient quantities has caused the majority of breeders to provide forage of low quality to the livestock they keep. The aim of this activity is to help farmers produce optimal production by handling animal feed problems. The results that have been achieved in this Thematic KKN are increasing the knowledge and understanding of farmers raising livestock farmers' awareness of providing and utilizing quality HPT in sufficient quantities and ensuring its continuity throughout the year so that livestock productivity can be maintained and increased.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas kimia abon ayam afkir dengan jenis daging yang berbeda. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah daging bagian dada (P1), daging paha (P2) dan daging kombinasi dari dada dan paha (P3). Variabel yang diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah uji kimia yang terdiri dari kadar abu, kadar air, kadar lemak, dan kadar protein. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis sidik ragam dan perlakuan yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap variabel yang diukur diuji lanjut menggunakan uji beda nyata terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berpengaruh nyata (P0,05) terhadap kadar abu abon. Kata Kunci: Ayam Afkir, Jenis Daging Yang Berbeda, Abon, Kualitas Kimia
