Abstract

This study aimed to determine that the failure of students to evaluate mathematical explanations based on mathematics is influenced by sociomathematical norms, teaching authority, and classroom mathematics practice. The research method used is the case study method. The research data were obtained from inside and outside the research class. The data in the research class were in the form of field notes, video recordings of the class, video recordings of student group work, and student work. Data outside the research class is the result of interviews with three interview subjects. By studying the three evaluation methods students used in evaluating explanations, it was found that each student applied a different evaluation method at different times. The three evaluation methods contributed to some of the difficulties students experience in evaluating their mathematical descriptions. The results indicate that the failure of students in evaluating explanations is not solely due to errors in choosing the method, approach, or learning model used but can be caused by sociomathematical norms, authority, and classroom mathematics practices applied in the classroom.

Abstract

The numerical method is one method that can be used to solve differential equations, both differential equations that are easy or difficult to solve analytically. The solution obtained from the calculation results is an approximate solution or a solution that approaches an analytic solution, not an analytic solution. That is, in solving differential equations numerically, there is always an error. In this paper, an analytical solution is described and described and the application of different methods in solving a damped mass spring system with a known limit value. The error between the analytic and numerical solutions obtained is very small.

Abstract

STRENGTHENING TEACHER PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCIES THROUGH THE USE OF DYNAMIC GEOMETRY SOFTWARE IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING. The selection of strategies, methods, models, and media of appropriate mathematics learning is a form of implementation of a teacher's pedagogical competence. In the 2013 curriculum, the teacher not only sets a scientific approach as a reference in implementing the learning process but also demands innovation to accommodate the right media as well. The role of instructional media, especially dynamic media, is very important in learning mathematics in both elementary and junior high schools. The media was used to explain abstract mathematical problems to be concrete, motivate students, stimulate student learning activities, and help the effectiveness of the learning process. Technological devices such as computers are one of the tools that can be used as dynamic mathematics learning media. Mathematical learning collaboration with ICT devices has been widely carried out in urban and rural areas in Indonesia. Dynamic Geometry Software (DGS) in the form of GeoGebra is a learning medium specifically developed to facilitate the learning of geometry, algebra, and calculus. Therefore, this community service activity (PkM) is intended to strengthen the teacher's pedagogical competence through the use of dynamic learning media using Dynamic Geometry Software (DGS) in the form of GeoGebra in mathematics learning in junior high schools. This PkM aims to train teachers to be able to operate or create mathematics learning media assisted by DGS, especially in learning geometry to students. By making their own, teachers can add insight and increase creativity in making learning media. The supported subjects in these community service activities were junior high school mathematics teachers in Ruteng City. As for the results obtained after the PKM activities, the teachers can operate and create mathematics learning media using DGS in the form of GeoGebra.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara minat belajar dengan resiliensi matematis siswa dalam menerapkan flipped classroom pada masa pandemi covid-19. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Populasi penelitian merupakan seluruh siswa kelas XI TKJ di SMK Informatika Santu Petrus Ruteng tahun ajaran 2020/2021 berjumlah 124 siswa, sedangakan sampel diambil menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 55 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode angket. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana dengan untuk menghitung signifikansi regresi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi diperoleh persamaan Ŷ = 46.04 + 0.56X t_hitung = 11.62 dan t_tabel = 2.00 maka H_o: ρ = 0 ditolak dan H_1: ρ> 0 diterima. Ini berarti, koefesien regresi (b = slope = 0.56) sangat signifikan. Sementara itu besarnya kontribusi variabel X terhadap Y yaitu r ^ 2 x 100% = (0.8474512 x 100% = 75.75%, Berdasarkan data tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi minat belajar siswa, maka semakin tinggi pula resiliensi matematis siswa. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah minat belajar siswa, maka semakin rendah pula resiliensi matematis siswa

Abstract

This research aims to (1) know wheter there is a correlation between the visual components of mathematics learning achievement of students (2) know whether there is a correlations between auditory component to student mathematics achievement (3) know whether there is a correlations between kinesthetic components of mathematics learning achievement of students. This research belongs to the correlations research with the quantitative data. The data was in the form of a visual component questionnaire score, auditorial component questionnaire component score, kinesthetic component questionnaire scores and student achievement test scores. This research made used of statistical interval data and data processor Inferential Parametris, by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov Normality Test and Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Test. The results of this research was that (1) there is not significant correlations between visual component with student mathematics achievement (correlations coefficient -0,265) (2) there is a significant correlations between auditory component with student mathematics achievement (correlations coefficient 0,661) (3) there is not significant correlations between kinesthetic component with student mathematics achievement (correlations coefficient -0,217).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties experienced by students in solving the problem of algebraic form concepts. This type of research is a qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection methods used include algebraic and open questionnaire operation tests. Data analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study stated that there were difficulties students in working on algebra questions related to the concept. Difficulties experienced by students related to the concept of (1) determining variables and constants; and (2) do not yet understand the concept of division in algebraic material.

Abstract

Masyarakat di Desa Nampar Tabang mayoritas penduduknya bermatapencaharian sebagai petani dan buruh tidak tetap. Beberapa warga juga merantau keluar daerah sebagai buruh. Warga masyarakat desa rata-rata mempunyai lahan luas yang belum dimanfaatkan dengan optimal misalnya lahan pekarangan rumah. Oleh karena itu tujuan dari pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan kesadaran kepada masyarakat agar mampu mengoptimalisasikan lahan pekarangan dengan menanam tanaman lokal sebagai upaya meningkatkan kesejahteraan mereka. Desa Nampar Tabang terletak cukup jauh dari kota dan pasar sehingga perlu biaya lebih untuk dapat membeli sayuran dengan berbagai jenis. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dimaksudkan agar masyarakat tidak kesulitan mendapatkan sayuran ataupun bahan pangan lainnya untuk makan sehari-hari dengan memanfaatkan tanaman lokal yang mudah diperoleh dan diperbanyak. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Nampar Tabang, Kecamatan Lamba Leda, Kabupaten Manggarai Timur, NTT. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada tanggal 23-25 Desember 2022 dengan beberapa tahapan yaitu: 1) Koordinasi dengan perwakilan masyarakat; 2) Sosialisasi pemanfaatan tanaman lokal; 3) Praktik menanam; 4) Evaluasi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Katolik Indonesia Santu Paulus Ruteng yang berjumlah 28 orang beserta 2 dosen pendamping yang dibagi dalam 6 kelompok untuk membantu masyarakat dalam praktik menanam tanaman. Manfaat yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat merasa terbantu dalam memanfaatkan lahan kosong, meningkatkan pengetahuan dalam menanam tanaman lokal, masyarakat dapat memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-harinya akan sayuran, dan mahasiswa dapat ikut berpartisipasi dalam memajukan desa. Saat pelaksanaan kegiatan ini masyarakat berpartisipasi dengan antusias dan mengikuti serta mendukung seluruh kegiatan yang dilaksanakan.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who are taught using the problemc based learning model and the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who are taught using conventional learning models in class VII students of SMP Negeri 18 Satarmese in the 2022/2023 academic year.Pretestposttest control group design is used in the quasi-experimental design of the research. There were a total of 58 students in class VII at SMP Negeri 18 Satarmese who participated in this study. Sampling in this used non-probability sampling or a sampling technique that did not provide equal opportunities or opportunities for each elemnt or member of the population to be selected as a sample, so the researchers made class VII A as the experimental class and class VII B as the control totaling 29 participants. A description-based mathematical problem solving ability test was used to gather the information. Prerequisite tests, such as homogeneity and normality tests, were carried out prior to the analysis of the data. The data from both groupd come from a population that is normally distributed and has a homogeneous variance, as demonstrated by the calculations for the normality and homogeneity tests. The N-gain score data were the ones that were analyzed using the independent t test statistical method.Based on the data analysis result obtained that the calculation result = 8,03 and = 1,67 at the significant level and degrees of freedom. Because price = 8,03 > price = 1,67, it is accepted and rejected. Therefore, there are differences in students mathematical problem solving abilities taught using the Problem Based Learning model with students mathematical problem solving abilities taught using conventional models. Based on the research results, recommendations for further research are to carry out similar research with other learning models and other classes.Keywords: Conventional Learning, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, the ability to solve Mathematical Problems

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis sangat penting bagi siswa untuk dapat mengungkapkan ide atau pemikirannya terhadap masalah matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP dengan self-regulation dan self-efficacy siswa tersebut. Populasinya adalah 120 siswa kelas VIII. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dan diperoleh sampel sebanyak 60 siswa di SMP Fransiskus Xaverius Ruteng. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes untuk mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan angket untuk mengukur self-regulation dan self-efficacy siswa. Ketiga instrumen tersebut sebelumnya telah dibuktikan validitas dengan uji Pearson Product Moment dan reliabilitasnya dengan uji Alpha Cronbach. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa self-regulation dan self-efficacy secara simultan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan kontribusi self-regulation dan self-efficacy terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis sebesar 24,6016% sedangkan sisanya sebesar 75,3984% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti oleh peneliti. Nilai signifikansi antara self-regulation dan self-efficacy secara simultan pada kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah 0,000 < 0,05 yang artinya terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self-regulation dan self-efficacy secara simultan dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Hal ini menyimpulkan bahwa siswa yang memiliki self-regulation dan/atau self-efficacy yang baik akan berdampak positif pada kemampuan komunikasi matematisnya.

Abstract

Pengetahuan serta kesadaran tentang hidup sehat dan lingkungan bersih sangat penting bagi masyarakat. Kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat untuk menjaga kebersihan lingkungan di Kelurahan  Tangge  masih belum maksimal. Hal ini diamati dari sampah yang berserakan di lingkungan serta tidak tersedianya tempat sampah  di tempat umum misalnya di kantor kecamatan, kantor desa dan tempat ibadah. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat agar membuang sampah pada tempatnya serta memperkenalkan kepada masyarakat cara membuat tempat sampah dari bambu. Dipilih bahan dari bambu karena bambu mudah didapatkan di lingkungan sekitar desa dan masyarakat tidak perlu mengeluarkan biaya untuk mendapatkannya. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama tiga minggu dari tanggal 14 Juli sampai 20 Agustus 2022. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di desa Tangge, kabupaten Manggarai Barat, NTT. Metode kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan berupa observasi, survey lingkungan dan material alam serta praktik pembuatan tempat sampah dengan memanfaatkan bahan yang ada di alam yaitu bambu. Hasil kegiatan adalah untuk memberikan kesadaran kepada masyarakat mengenai pentingnya menjaga kesehatan dan kebersihan lingkungan serta membantu meningkatkan keterampilan warga dalam membuat tempat sampah  dengan memanfaatkan  bambu.
