Abstract

Abstract

Integration of technology in science instruction in special education context can be done within the technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework. Therefore, special education teachers are expected to have a good level of TPACK. This study aimed to explore the level of teachers TPACK in science instruction for students with special needs and to compare the TPACK level of teachers based on their gender. This research used a quantitative approach with survey method. The respondents of this study were special education teachers (N= 44). The data collection method was through a survey using the TPACK survey instrument. The validation result used the Pearson Correlation showed value per statement ranging from 0.504 - 0.904. Reliability showed in the Cronbach's coefficient Alpha for internal consistency value of 0.856 (high). The data analysis technique used was the descriptive statistical analysis technique and the independent sample t test. The results showed that the total average of all TPACK domain is concluded in good category with mean score 81.29. The t test calculation showed that the t value (0.123) is less than the critical t value in the t table (2.085). The p value obtained was 0.90, greater than 0.05. Therefore, Ho is accepted. The issue of gender equality that has begun to be implemented in Indonesia can be the reason for the loss of technological mastery differences. In conclusion, TPACK mastery of special education teachers in science instruction was not differentiated by teacher gender with p>0.05.

Abstract

The successful transition process in early childhood led to future school outcomes. The aim of the research was to explore the experiences of parents of children with special needs in transitioning their children to school. The study used a qualitative approach involving 17 parents of young children with special needs receiving education in special schools in Yogyakarta. Focus group discussion was used to collect the data. Data collected from Focus Group Discussion was analysed using thematic analysis. Findings from the study show that parents of children with mild special needs do not have specific preparation in transitioning their children to school, school provided a week at the beginning of the school period for parents to stay and assist their children in the classes. Parents believe that there is no adequate support for transitioning their children to school and that condition exaggerates their anxieties when leaving their children at school. A structured transition program is needed as the implication of this study.

Abstract

Blindness is a condition in which a person’s sense of sight does not function either partially (low vision) or as a whole (total blindness). Physical limitations make it difficult for them to access information and knowledge in the form of books or other printed media. This study was aimed at developing application smartness help for the disabled blind with text and image. The research method (RD) uses the waterfall model. The study was conducted at SLB-A YPPLB Payakumbuh with the results of the assessment of material experts 93.3%, and media experts 86.7% who stated that the Smartness Help application was “very feasible” to use and be tested on blind people. The results of trials on blind people using the Smartness Help application yielded 87% results, all of which were categorized as very feasible.

Abstract

Pedagogical competency is one of four competencies that all teachers need to be proficient within the Indonesian National Teaching Standards. Yet, there is limited understanding of how these competencies relate to inclusive education practice. This study used a combination of survey and interview data to explore the pedagogical skills of elementary teachers working in inclusive schools. Survey data showed that teachers utilized a range of accommodations and modifications within their classrooms to assist them to be inclusive of all students. These accommodations and modifications were often associated with support from other persons (e.g., shadow teacher, parents, peers). While teachers expressed frustration with the learning of students, interview data found that teacher frustration was more about their perceived inability to meet the needs of students. Directions for on-going work to investigate and enhance teacher pedagogical competence within the context of inclusive education Indonesia are discussed.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is the core of the independent curriculum now. The aim of this research is to develop an instrument for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students based on differentiated learning on elasticity material and to obtain its characteristics. Differentiation, in this case, is differentiation of student learning styles. The instrument grid is arranged based on indicators of cognitive learning outcomes, which are then used to compile question items. The test instrument consists of two test sets, each of which has 9 items including two anchor items so that the total number of items is 16 items and has been validated by 6 experts. The validated instrument was tested on 252 respondents spread across high schools in the low, medium and high categories. Dichotomous data were analyzed using the Partial Credit Model (PCM). The trial results showed that all 16 items and the differentiated learning-based student cognitive learning outcomes test instrument were proven to be valid, fit the PCM model, and reliable, which means all items were in the good category. Thus, the test instrument developed meets the requirements for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students on elasticity material based on differentiated learning.

Abstract

Education is an effort to improve the quality of human life through developing their potential. one of which is that students have the ability to learn independently. In fact, taking initiative and depending on others is a problem that often occurs among students. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of modeling technique group guidance to increase the learning independence of class VII students at SMP N 1 Padamara. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. This research design is one group pretest and posttest. The population of this research was 50 students and the sample was 8 students. Research analysis used the Wilcoxon test with the help of SPSS 26 for Windows. Based on the results of this research, it shows an increase in learning independence after following the modeling technique group guidance services provided. This is shown in the average pre-test score of 53.2 and post-test average score of 95.4. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test using SPSS 26, the Z count in the experimental class was -2.521 and a significance level of 0.05. It is known that the Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) value is 0.012<0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion of this research is that modeling technique group guidance services are effective in increasing the learning independence of class VII students at SMP N 1 Padamara
