Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the students? scientific reasoning skills in the guided inquiry learning integrated of scaffolding in heat and temperature. The research used mixed-method with embedded experimental design. The subject of this research was 29 students of class X in Sidoarjo state high school. The instrument consists of treatment and measurement instruments. The treatment instruments consist of syllabus, lesson plan, and student worksheet. The measurement instrument consists of scientific reasoning skills test. The test development based on scientific reasoning pattern proposed by Lawson with a reliability of 0.848. The quantitative data on students? scientific reasoning skills was analyzed using Wilcoxon-test, while qualitative data was analyzed by reducing data and coding using a scientific reasoning pattern rubric. The results show that students? scientific reasoning skill in heat and temperature increased after following the guided inquiry learning integrated of scaffolding. The students have been able to use information to determine whether a conclusion is likely to be true or not, but students are still unable to recognize and interpret relationships in situations described by observed or abstract variables.

Abstract

This study was aimed at analyzing the students’ critical thinking skills in the integrated 5E peer instruction learning cycle in temperature and heat material. This mixed-method research with embedded experimental design involved 33 students of class X in Sidoarjo state high school. The research instrument consists of treatment instruments and measurement instruments. The treatment instrument consists of syllabus, lesson plan, and student worksheet. The measurement instrument consisted of critical thinking skills tests, interview guide sheets and field notes. The test research instrument was in the form of 8 test questions developed based on critical thinking indicators proposed by Ennis with a reliability of 0.72. The quantitative data on students’ critical thinking skills were analyzed using paired t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed by reducing the results of student interviews. The results show that the students’ critical thinking skill in the temperature and heat materials increased after following the peer instruction integrated 5E learning cycle. The students have been able to build basic skills, provide simple explanations, organize strategies and tactics, make further explanations and are still unable to make conclusions from the physics problems presentedKEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA DALAMMODEL PEMBELAJARAN TERINTEGRASIAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada model siklus belajar 5E terintegrasi peer instruction dalam materi suhu dan kalor. Penelitian mixed-method dengan desain embedded experimental ini melibatkan 33 siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri di Sidoarjo. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari instrumen perlakuan dan instrumen pengukuran. Instrumen perlakuan terdiri dari silabus, RPP, dan LKS. Instrumen pengukuran terdiri dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, lembar panduan wawancara, dan lembar catatan lapangan. Instrumen penelitian tes berupa 8 soal uraian tes yang dikembangkan berdasarkan indikator berpikir kritis yang dikemukakan oleh Ennis dengan reliabilitas 0,72. Data kuantitatif kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dianalisis menggunakan paired t-test. Data kualitatif dianalisis dengan melakukan reduksi terhadap hasil wawancara siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi suhu dan kalor meningkat setelah mengikuti pembelajaran siklus belajar 5E terintegrasi peer instruction. Siswa sudah mampu dalam membangun keterampilan dasar, memberikan penjelasan sederhana, mengatur strategi dan taktik, membuat penjelasan lebih lanjut, dan masih kurang mampu dalam membuat kesimpulan dari permasalahan fisika yang disajikan.

Abstract

Understanding the concept is an important aspect of solving various physics problems. Understanding the concept will help in understanding the problems, determining problem-solving strategies, and using mathematics appropriately as a problem-solving tool. Lack of conceptual understanding results in the tendency to solve problems by relying solely on formulas without knowing the proper use of formulas according to the underlying concepts of the problem. Various problems related to rotational motion can be explained through the concept of torque. To solve the problem of torque, understanding the concept of torque and mastering the concept of vectors are needed to find solutions to the problems Many of the science teachers have a background in physics education. Science teachers who are a bachelor of physics education should master various physics concepts even though the material is not taught at the junior high school level. Therefore, the authors conducted research to determine the ability of science teachers with an education background in physics education in solving the problems of torque. The study involved 10 science teachers who teach in 10 different schools. This research was a descriptive study with data collection techniques in the form of a questionnaire using an essay question to test the science teacher's ability in solving the problems of torque. The results showed that most of the participants could not solve the problem of torque due to a lack of understanding of the concept in determining the torque generated by forces with various positions.

Abstract

Self-efficacy is an aspect of self-regulation that supports individual success. Teachers must design appropriate learning to improve students' self-efficacy. The purpose of this study is to analyze students' self-efficacy on 5E learning cycle model integrated peer instruction. Mixed-method research with embedded experimental design was  conducted to 33 students. Research instrument is self-efficacy questionnaire with reliability 0,95. Quantitative data on self-efficacy was analyzed using paired t-test, while qualitative data was analyzed by reduction results of student interviews. Results showed that students' self-efficacy improved after learning. Students have confidence in linking physics concepts with other concepts of science, investigating, and using physics concepts in daily-life phenomena.Efikasi-diri merupakan aspek pengaturan-diri yang menunjang keberhasilan individu. Guru berperan merancang pembelajaran yang tepat untuk meningkatkan efikasi-diri siswa. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis efikasi-diri siswa pada model siklus belajar 5E terintegrasi peer instruction. Penelitian mixed-method dengan desain embedded experimental ini melibatkan 33 siswa kelas X. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket efikasi-diri dengan reliabilitas 0,95. Data kuantitatif efikasi-diri dianalisis menggunakan paired t-test, sementara data kualitatif dianalisis dengan mereduksi hasil wawancara siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan efikasi-diri siswa meningkat setelah pembelajaran. Siswa memiliki keyakinan dalam mengaitkan konsep fisika dengan konsep ilmu lainnya, melakukan investigasi, dan menggunakan konsep fisika pada fenomena di kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Concepts understanding is important for students in determining the success of their learning. One concept that is considered difficult by students is temperature and heat. Concept understanding can be disabled through learning peer instructions. This research aims to determine the profile of students' concepts understanding in the material temperature and heat. This research is a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest model applied to 33 students of class X MIA 6 of SMA Negeri 1 Krian Sidoarjo. The research instrument used were treatment and measurement instruments. The treatment instruments consisted of syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, and learning observation sheets. While the measurement instruments consist of pre-class reading assignments and concept tests. The research data were analyzed by determining the pattern of the distribution of students' answers on the concept test. From the results of the study showed that there are 3 patterns of changes in students' answers on the concept test that is from true-false, true-false, false-other false. In addition, after obtaining peer instruction learning, there is an increase of students' physics concepts understanding in the material temperature and heat.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires teachers to encourage students to be able the 21 st century skills consist critical thinking, creativ thinking, communicaton, and collaboratively. To achieve this, teacher must practice using learning strategies with an orientation to train students to be able have 4C skills. This relates to the learning component that must be prepared by the teacher such as teaching materials. The aim of research was conducted to study the availability of the 4C component at physics worksheets of senior high school for XII. The population of data in this study were physics worksheets class XII made by teacher.The samples in this research are fourth Physics worksheets made by physics teacher. The data in this study were taken using physics worksheets presentation analysis instrument with the data analysis technique is a content study and data collection techniques through documentation studies. Based on the analysis result, it can be concluded the analysis of the Physics Worsheets at Senior High School for XII related to availability of the 4C component shows that physics worksheets who obtained a percentage with the fulfillment of the indicator on the highest 4C component is critical thinking indicators obtained a score 59% with category enough facilitated and the lower is collaboration get a score 42,71%.

Abstract

The education process in schools should be able to increase mastery of science and technology and provide training and science process skills that can improve the quality of human resources. Education is the main key to modernization and progress for a nation. In reality, 4C learning on 21st century skills has not been fulfilled properly. This needs to be addressed starting by developing a learning material such as lesson plans. The objective of assisting is to improve the competency of teachers in writing lesson plans. The target of the assisting activity was the teachers in SMPN 2 Baso, Agam district. Methods in assisting include presentation and discussion, group work, independent task, and task presentation. Instruments to collect the data consist of knowledge test. Data analysis techniques were descriptive statistical analysis and paired sample t-test. The result of this assisting is the implementation of assisting on the writing of lesson plan is effective to improve the 21st century skills and independent learning program in the school of teachers.

Abstract

Corona virus disease (covid-19) has spread all over the world and became a pandemic in short time. Indonesia is one of the countries that affected by covid-19 pandemic. Covid-19 changed everything in various area including education. Online learning became one of the solutions in universities in order to keep learning process going. Unfortunately, policy to apply online learning is facing many difficulties associated with infra-structure, student economic capability and time management. Learning video is presented to overcome difficulties of online learning during covid-19 pandemic in subject of Calculus for Physics. The video presents material supported by sample problem and solution. Practicality of the learning video was examined by collecting student`s responses in aspect of ease of use, learning time efficiency, attractiveness and benefits. Data was analyzed using percentage formula to determine criteria of practicality. The result of the observation revealed that learning video of calculus for physics has a good practicality that represented by score of each aspects of 81,26% for ease of use, 83,53% for learning time efficiency, 79,87% for attractiveness and 81,08% for benefits. Based on this result we conclude that learning video is very useful to assist student in online learning during covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, learning video could be one of the best choices in learning media to apply digital and remote learning in facing of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Abstract

During learning from home, the teacher is very limited in giving feedback on assignments. Consequently, students’ understanding of physics concepts is still low and experiencing misconceptions. Therefore, teachers should able to develop an interactive recitation program completed by corrective feedback that could remediate students’ misconceptions. The research objective is to improve the competence of physics teachers at Sijunjung Regency through mentoring in developing an interactive recitation program. This sort of research is quasi-experimental with one-group pretest-posttest design. The research data was obtained from the pretest and posttest about understanding of the interactive recitation programs. The results showed that there was an increase in the knowledge of high school physics teachers in understanding the interactive recitation program with a percentage of 32.4%, and the provision of mentoring activities have a significant effect on increasing the competence of physics teachers in developing interactive recitation programs.
