Abstract

The aims of this research were: (1) to find out the content of English Materials need by students of Economic Department Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (2) to investigate the reason why students need English materials. This study used descriptive quantitative method. Total Respondents of this research were 37 students of the second semester of Islamic Economic Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar.. The results of this study showed that: first, in the listening Materials, the highest content that students needs is about listen the customer who wants to create an account at Shariah Bank, in the speaking skill, the highest content that students needs is about how to explain to the customer the information in creating an account at Shariah Bank, in the reading materials, the highest content that students’ need is about reading brochure from Islamic bank. And in the writing skill, the highest content that students’ need is materials in the form of reply to letters, emails, and fax from other Islamic Banks, second, There are some reasons why the English materials are needed by Islamic Economic student. first, English materials is important for their future job or career. Second reason is English is international language. The third reason is to be able to communicate orally and written, and the other students said to be able to communicate with tourism.

Abstract

This research aims at developing instructional material for English grammar through Moodle at UNISMUH Makassar. it tries to develop the material by identifying students’ need in learning grammar, to describe instructional material of English grammar through Moodle. This research and development (R&D) is conducted by adapting ASSURE models which consist of Analyze, State Objective, Select, Utilize, Require, and Evaluation.The data were gained through questionnaire, the questionnaire is employed to do need analysis to get students’ need in instructional material, and to describe instructional material.meanwhile, questionnaire for validator to conduct development evaluation. Finally, the product of the study is Instructional material of teaching grammar through Moodle

Abstract

The aims of this research were: (1) to find out how teachers in rural areas implement the 2013 curriculum in teaching English (2) to find out what problems are faced by English teachers in rural areas in implementing the 2013 curriculum. This research used a qualitative method. The subjects of this research were English teachers of SMPN 9 Seko, SMPN 1 Seko, and SMPN 2 Seko. The total number of subjects was five English teachers. The procedure of this research was collected by doing observation and interviewing the English teachers using questionnaires. The results of this research showed that: first, implementation of the 2013 curriculum in Seko District as a rural area is still not going well and ineffective because there are still components of the teaching and learning process that have not been implemented systematically and precisely in the teaching and learning process. Second, the result based on the interview was the first problem that the teachers faced in teaching English in rural areas is the unavailability of learning media and most of the students still used their local language or mother tongue as a daily language which makes students usually do not understand well when teachers explain the lesson.

Abstract

Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra yaitu kurangnya pemahaman tentang implementasi kurikulum Merdeka khususnya dalam merancang dan menyusun perangkat ajar Kurikulum Merdeka di Satuan PAUD. Oleh karena itu, tim PKM unismuh Makassar melakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan pemahaman terhadap kurikulum Merdeka. Kegiatan dilakasanakan tiga tahap, yaitu pertama ‘pelatihan/pemaparan konsep kurikulum Merdeka untuk PAUD yang meliputi pemaparan tentang Rancangan kegiataan bermain dengan merujuk pada Capaian Pemebelajaran (CP); Pemaparan tentang pengembangan alur dan tujuan pembelajaran pada satuan PAUD berdasarkan karakteristik satuan, kebutuhan dan minat anak, kondisi lingkungan sekitar, serta keterkaitannya dengan CP, sehingga alur dan tujuan pembelajaran antar-tiap satuan dapat berbeda; Pemaparan tentang pengembangkan modul ajar sesuai dengan kebutuhan belajar peserta didik. Kedua, pendampingan pembuatan peta konsep pembelajaran untuk PAUD, dan ketiga, praktek penerapan perangkat ajar di depan teman sejawat. Luaran PKM ini berupa peningkatan pemahaman tentang konsep dan cara implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka untuk PAUD. Para guru sangat antusias dalam mengikuti pelatihan tersebut, mereka merespon bahwa dengan pelatihan ini mereka dapat mengimplementasikan kurikulum Merdeka pada sekolah mereka masing-masing.

Abstract

This mixed-methods study investigates the strategies employed by EFL teachers in integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into their teaching practices within a regional public high school in Indonesia. By employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, the study draws upon a sample of teachers' perspectives via structured interviews and questionnaire responses. The English teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Maros were involved as the subject of the Research. The findings reveal that teachers utilize a range of ICT tools, such as LCD/LED projectors, PowerPoint presentations, audio-visual technologies, and radio broadcasts, with the primary aim of enhancing teaching efficacy and student engagement. The data suggests that the use of ICT significantly influences student comprehension and learning outcomes, with pupils demonstrating an accelerated understanding of material when taught via ICT-based methodologies. Therefore, the study provides valuable insights into the role of ICT in English language teaching in Indonesia, particularly shedding light on teachers' ICT utilization strategies and the impacts on student learning outcomes. These findings may inform future policy and practice in education, potentially guiding initiatives for ICT integration in the wider context of language education.

Abstract

A person's habit of putting what they have learned into practice is a metric that can be used to measure perception, regardless of whether the person agrees with, disagrees with, or justifies what they have learned. In this study, 35 students from class XII MIPA 4 SMAN 3 Maros participated, and descriptive qualitative research methods were employed to conduct the study. The purpose of the research was to investigate the perspectives of students towards blended learning in English. In particular during the COVID-19 pandemic, where there were no dominants in blended learning, students felt that offline learning was still the most important thing major compared to online learning. The conclusion of the students' perceptions on blended learning assists students in accepting their right consciousness to learn English. The study implies a pedagogical perspective into EFL senior high school students’ view towards blended learning post-pandemic time where offline and online classes have only recently begun in Indonesia.

Abstract

The aims of this Research were: (1) to find out the implementation about the content of English for Specific Purpose Materials by students of IED at FEB at UNISMUH Makassar (2) to investigate the Lecturer’s Strategy in Teaching English for Specific Purpose. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Subject of this research was lecturer of IED at FEB at UNISMUH Makassar. The procedure of this Research is that researcher gives observation and documentation to lecturer. The results of this study showed that: first, the implementation of ESP materials focused on their academic studies and used related to the absolute and variable characteristics, the second the Lecturer’s strategy used Direct Teaching Strategy and Mastery Learning Strategy of ESP has be able of IED students. English materials needed by students of Islamic Economic study program is an interesting and useful material for them in the future, especially in their future career. Students also expect interesting material that is easy to understand and based on their desires. The researcher hopes that the results of this study can help the teaching lecturers to be used to make ESP based English teaching materials as they wish.

Abstract

The research was aimed to improving the students’ Pronunciation ability, particularly vowel and consonant sounds in speaking by using Tell Me More (TMM) at Second Year Students of SMA Negeri 5 Barru. The method of this research was quasi experimental. It was consisted with two classes, namely experimental class and control class by used purposive sampling. The number of sample selected was 60 students. The data were obtained through pronunciation test. The result of this research, the researcher found: 1. the significant difference between the students who are taught consonant by using Tell Me More (TMM) and the students who are taught by using discussion method in teaching and learning pronunciation. Where 5.15 in pre-test to be 6.56 in post-test and control class was 4.83 in pre-test to be 5.53 in post-test. 2. The significant difference between the students who are taught vowel by using Tell Me More (TMM) and the students who are taught by using discussion method in teaching and learning pronunciation. Where 7.43 in pre-test to be 8.15 in post-test and in control class was 6.89 in pre-test to be 7.51 in post-test.
