Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) aims to improve the quality of education based on activities carried out through learning that optimizes learning centered on collaboration between teachers and students. This PkM was held at RK Private Elementary School No. 4 on Jalan Kesatria in Pematang Siantar. This PkM is carried out based on the PkM method which is based on the method of education to the community. Education in PkM is realized through learning English in class VB at the elementary school. The PkM implementation went well according to the schedule set by the PkM Team and the school. The principal and teachers, especially the homeroom teacher for class VB, welcomed the implementation of this PkM well. In this PkM implementation, students respond actively. Learning activities occur in accordance with the expectation that teachers and students collaborate to understand and solve problems faced by students so that they can improve learning achievement, especially in learning English in accordance with predetermined learning objectives. So it can be concluded that the implementation of PkM brings innovation to learning English for elementary school students and also as a reference for teachers to implement innovative learning based on the 21st century in accordance with the development of education in Indonesia in order to achieve Indonesia's national education goals to create independent, innovative students and noble character

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the role or attitude of the researcher towards the song appears in the study of influence, appreciation and recognition. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method by using three analytical processes proposed by Fairclough's CDA model. The research data is the lyrics of the song Pamungkas “To the Bone”. The findings show that Pamungkas clearly describes his feelings using the speech patterns in this song. Pamungkas in his song conveys how much he loves this woman, in other words he is ready to do anything to love the woman he likes. From an appreciative perspective, Pamungkas tries to indirectly convey how deep his feelings are for the woman he loves. Pamungkas then implicitly conveys in a moral assessment that love must be done in earnest. Based on his confession, Pamungkas conveyed through the lyrics of the song that love must be fought for and he does not know the word surrender

Abstract

The goal of this research is to identify the use of deixis in a song in the perspective of discourse analysis. Descriptive qualitative research was implemented in this research. The data used in this research was the song entitled ‘How Far I’ll Go” which was the anthem song of Moana movie. The results of the research were personal, spatial and temporal deixis depicted in the song. There were 12 personal deixis, 5 spatial deixis, and 4 temporal deixis. As a conclusion, the personal deixis was the most dominant used in the song

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the role of guidance counselors in improving students' academic performance. Descriptive qualitative method was implemented in conducting this research. The data used in this research were students at grade VI of SDN 091263. In addition, the research results also show that students' motivation to learn increases after orientation is carried out. From the results of the study showed that changes and improvements in students. Based on the research, it is known that there is a change in students' interest in learning along with changes in behavior experienced by students. Good analysis results from the research topic to the level of student change. It can be concluded that counseling plays an important role in enhancing students' learning activities and motivation. Therefore, in the learning process, expect the teacher to guide fully and appropriately for students.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing how the influence of learning facilities and facilities on students' learning motivation. This type of research is a qualitative research using a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through interviews. FGD (focus group discussion) and documentation. In this study, the authors also used the literature review method which aims to collect and extract information from previous research and analyze some of the descriptions of experts contained in the text. From this study, the authors obtained the results that learning facilities and equipment were able to increase students motivation in learning, because the more adequate the learning facilities, the deeper the students’ knowledge so that students motivation towards learning would grow as well as students' performance and ability to understand would increase'.

Abstract

Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini melalui metode kualitatif dengan seorang guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar yang menjadi topik penelitian dan bertujuan untuk menganalisis (1) tuturan bahasa Inggris guru dalam kegiatan pengajaran (2) penyusunan kosa kata yang diterapkan. Data ditemukan dari observasi di kelas VIII dan wawancara guru. Hasil temuan adalah banyak masalah yang terkandung dalam pidato bahasa Inggris guru dalam kegiatan mengajar di SMP Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar antara lain; (1) penggunaan pidato bahasa Inggris guru sesuai dengan rencana pelajaran. Yang meliputi kegiatan pembukaan, kegiatan inti, kegiatan penutup; (2) guru menggunakan tuturan bahasa Inggris kemudian bahasa Indonesia karena bahasa Inggris siswa adalah (3) kosa kata yang biasa digunakan oleh guru yang membantu menghidupkan suasana dan menciptakan suasana santai dalam pembelajaran, sehingga tuturan bahasa Inggris guru akan lebih mudah untuk dipahami oleh siswa.

Abstract

Media video merupakan salah satu perkembangan teknologi yang mampu membantu proses belajar mengajar baik dalam ruangan kelas maupun secara daring. Pandemi covid-19 sebelumnya memberi pengaruh besar terhadap perubahan proses pembelajaran. Dengan adanya media video harapannya pembelajaran pada masa pandemi saatitu mampu menjadi jembatan guna menyonggsong proses pembelajaran tetap berjalan. SD Swasta GKPS II merupan satu dari sekian banyak nya sekolah baik tingkat dasar, menengah maupun perguruan tinggi yang menerapkan pembelajaran secara daring di masa pandemi. Dimana media video mampu ditonton berkali-kali oleh peserta didik dan dipelajari secara berulang. Pada masa pandemi inilah peran orang tua dan guru menjadi sangat diutamakan terlebih dalam hal meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa dari segala aspek, baik dalam mengerjakan tugas, kehadiran dan lainnya. Dengan adanya media video, harapannya bukan hanya pembelajaran online saja yang terbantu, melainkan dalam pembelajaran offline tentunya. Media video saat ini menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran yang efektif untuk digunakan dan menarik perhatian belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan upaya guru untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa selama pembelajaran daring.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi professional guru melalui pelatihan atau yang disebut dengan istilah In House Training (IHT) penyusunan karya tulis ilmiah. Kegiatan ini diadakan pada tanggal 27-28 Juli 2018 di Gedung Aula SMA Teladan Pematangsiantar. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh 32 orang guru SMA Teladan Pematangsiantar dan para dosen dari lingkungan FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan tiga tahap, yakni: 1) Tahap I adalah tahap persiapan. Dalam tahap ini kegiatan diawali dengan studi lapangan/ observasi dan wawancara, selanjutnya menganalisis permasalahan, menyusun tim pelaksana PKM, dan membuat proposal PKM. 2) Tahap II adalah tahap pelaksanaan, yang terdiri dari pemaparan materi oleh tim dosen I pada hari pertama, dengan judul “Penyusunan Karya Ilmiah”, dan hari kedua pemaparan materi oleh tim dosen II dengan judul “Publikasi Karya Ilmiah”. Selama kegiatan berlangsung diadakan sesi tanya jawab, diskusi, dan pelatihan guru dalam membuat Karya Tulis Ilmiah (KTI). 3) Tahap II adalah tahap akhir, yang mana kegiatan dalam tahap ini adalah tahap evaluasi yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis keberhasilan kegiatan pelatihan yang diberikan, menyusun laporan dan mempublikasikan hasil PKM dalam jurnal. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh dalam kegiatan ini adalah1) kemampuan guru memahami konsep KTI setelah diberi pelatihan adalah sebesar 62,5% guru yang sangat paham akan konsep KTI, sebesar 21,88% guru yang paham akan konsep KTI, sebesar 15, 63% guru yang kurang paham konsep KTI, dan 0% atau tidak ada guru yang tidak paham konsep KTI; 2) guru yang bersemangat untuk menulis karya ilmiah setelah mendapat pelatihan adalah sebesar 71,88%, kurang bersemangat sebesar 18,75% dan tidak bersemangat sebesar 9,375%; dan 3) persentase guru yang merasakan manfaat kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan adalah sebesar 93,75% guru merasakan sangat bermanfaat, sebesar 6,25% guru merasakan bermanfaat kegiatan pelatihan dan 0% untuk masing-masing kategori guru merasakan kurang bermanfaat dan tidak bermanfaat atas pelatihan yang diadakan.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of providing socialization for efforts to respect the content/work of others on social media. This activity was organized by KOMINFO Indonesia Maju with the main theme being the 2021 Digital Literacy National Movement. This activity was held on Wednesday, 17 November 2021 at 13.00 WIB until it was finished. This activity is carried out online through the zoom application. About 200 participants took part in this webinar activity. The target of the socialization is the people who live in the city of Pematang Siantar, North Sumatra Province. The results obtained from this webinar activity are increasing awareness and also digital literacy competence which is the most important milestone in educating social media users in ethics, especially in avoiding plagiarism of content or other people's work on social media which can have a negative impact on its users itself

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan mutu pembelajaran siswa siswi melalui observasi.Kegiatan ini diadakan pada tanggal 9 Pebruari 2023 di SMP NEGERI 2 TAPIAN DOLOK, Pematang Siantar.Kegiatan ini diawali dengan perkenalan masing masing anggota observasi, perkenalan siswa, dilanjutkan ice breaking, dan kemudian menyampaikan materi kepada siswa yang berjudul “Pandangan Terhadap Pendidikan”, selama kegiatan diadakan juga sesi tanya jawab. Adapun hasil yang didapat dalam kegiatan ini adalah 1)Setelah pemaparan kemampuan siswa memahami materi yaitu sebesar 33,88% siswa yang sangat paham, sebesar 52,9% siswa yang paham pada materi yang disampaikan, sebesar 10,33% siswa yanng kurang paham pada materi yang disampaikan, dan sebesar 1% siswa yang tidak paham pada materi yyang disampaikan; 2) Siswa yang sangat bersemangat selama kegiatan adalah sebesar 63,89%, siswa yang kurang bersemangat sebesar 25,32% dan yang tidak bersemangat sebesar 10,68%.
