Abstract

This research investigates the ways in which different groups of media users have different tendencies in consuming and believing fake news. These tendencies are examined through: (1) analysis of association of age and income level with the pattern of media consumption; (2) analysis of association of age and income level with types of media that is perceived as the most trustworthy. Using systematic random sampling, this study examines 400 households in Semarang, Central Java, with level of confidence of 95%.

Abstract

Theory is always formed within a specific social and cultural background. Therefore , Eastern and Western cultures are differs in the way they look at the concept of relationship. While Western theories tend to perceive relationship as the rel connections between two people or more, eastern theories consider roles, status, power, and social positions as important elements in building relationship. The main aim of this research is to implement a Relational Dialectics Theory, which is formed in the Western tradition to Javanese cultural contexts (as a part of Eastern Culture).  The research’s findings indicate that some important elements in the theory are inapplicable in Javanese contexts of relationship. This phenomenon due to the domination of partiarchal ideology in the Javanese culture.

Abstract

Kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla merupakan peristiwa yang terjadi menjelang pertandingan sepakbola antara Persib Bandung melawan Persija Jakarta. Kasus tersebut menyedot perhatian publik yang tinggi, hingga berbagai pemberitaan muncul memberitakan peristiwa tersebut. Pemberitaan yang muncul terkait kasus tersebut menyajikan realitas melalui berbagai sudut pandang. Salah satu media yang memberitakan kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla adalah portal berita online Detik.com.. Terkait kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla, kasus ini dipilih karena kasus tersebut menarik perhatian publik yang tinggi, seiring dengan tingginya antusiasme masyarakat Indonesia mengenai perkembangan sepakbola Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsipsikan isi berita pada portal berita online Detik.com terkait dengan kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi kepada 75 berita yang dirilis Detik.com. Portal berita online Detik.com dipilih dalam penelitian ini, karena Detik.com merupakan salah satu portal berita online dengan arus distribusi pengunjung di internet yang tertinggi di Indonesia. Hasil analisis isi yang dilakukan dengan teori konstruksi realitas sosial menunjukkan bahwa, Detik.com melakukan pembingkaian terhadap peristiwa pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla sehingga pembaca memaknai peristiwa tersebut bukan bagian dari pengelolaan sepakbola melainkan, peristiwa hukum pada umumnya. Detik.com berusaha membangun kredibilitas melalui pemilihan narasumber dan proses memperoleh informasi mengenai kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla, yang ditunjukkan melalui pencantuman sumber berita berupa pihak-pihak tertentu yang terlibat langsung dalam proses hukum dan peradilan terhadap para tersangka. Foto berita yang dimuat pada pemberitaan kasus pengeroyokan Haringga Sirla, berusaha untuk melakukan konstruksi sosial mengenai bagaimana proses yang dilalui oleh individu yang melakukan pelanggaran hukum dengan menunjukkan bagaimana para tersangka mengikuti proses hukum dalam mempertanggungjawabkan tindakan pengeroyokan yang dilakukan. Disarankan kepada Detik.com untuk meningkatkan keragaman isi berita, baik itu tema berita yang diangkat, sumber berita yang dipilih, maupun gambar atau foto berita dalam pemberitaan, yang akan meningkatkan kelengkapan realitas atas sebuah peristiwa yang terjadi, agar pembaca dapat memaknai sebuah peristiwa yang terjadi secara lengkap dan utuh serta dapat meminimalisir terjadinya bias makna, sehingga berita yang dirilis dapat menjadi rujukan dan memberikan pemahaman yang jelas kepada pembaca.

Abstract

This research originated from the increasing number of press violations especially related to violations of the journalistic code of ethics. As many as 30% of violations of the code of ethics are carried out by online media. The Press Council said the number of complaints related to the press throughout 2012 reached more than 500 cases and out of that number 98 cases were related to online media. As many as 76% of the complaints relate to the issue of violating the journalistic code of ethics. Therefore this study wants to know the application of journalistic code of ethics in the news production process in online media and also to find out how routine media influence the implementation of journalistic code of ethics in online media.This study uses the Hierarchy of Influence Theory, Media Ethical Theory, New Media Theory and Journalistic Code of Ethics from several existing press organizations. This research is a study that uses the constructivism paradigm using an ethnographic communication approach. The data analysis of this study is divided into three stages: description, analysis and interpretation. The research began on April 10th to May 31st, 2018 at the Tribun Jateng Online editorial for 7 weeks. The researcher looked at how the news are being processed started from the search for ideas of coverage to the news distribution stage to the public.The results of this study were obtained from observations made during the research in the field. Based on this data, it is seen how the concepts related to the journalistic code of ethics with the actual conditions in the field. The results of this study show that all parties ranging from editors in chief, journalists to editors are involved in maintaining the quality of news related to the application of the journalistic code of ethics. There are several factors that lead to violations of the journalistic code of ethics both from internal factors and external factors. This study found five important points that influence the content of the news related to the application of journalistic code of ethics, namely media routines, journalists' personal closeness, adaptation and copying acts, provision of facilities and up to the editor's role in processing the final report from journalists. Tribun Jateng Online itself has not been maximized in applying the journalistic code of ethics on every news that has been published.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman individu dalam penggunaan Instagram pada dinamika hubungan pacaran. Penemuan sebelumnya menemukan bahwa penggunaan jejaring sosial Facebook tidak mempengaruhi keintiman dan kepuasan hubungan, akan tetapi pasangan telah mencapai pada tahap keintiman yang tinggi akan menyeimbangkan antara penggunaan jejaring sosial Facebook dengan kepuasan hubungan. Maka dari itu, pada penelitian ini membahas mengenai bagaimana penggunaan media sosial dalam dinamika hubungan pacaran, di mana fokus pada penggunaan Instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi yang memahami fenomena dari kehidupan para pelakunya. Teori yang digunakan adalah Teori Penetrasi Sosial dan Teori Pengurangan Ketidakpastian. Teori Penetrasi Sosial digunakan untuk menggambarkan tahapan dalam suatu hubungan dari orientasi ke pertukaran stabil. Teori Pengurangan Ketidakpastian membahas mengenai strategi untuk mengurangi ketidakpastian kognitif dan perilaku dengan pencarian informasi melalui komunikasi dengan orang lain. Penelitian dilakukan kepada enam pasangan berpacaran dengan tiga variasi hubungan, yaitu hubungan jarak jauh tanpa interaksi tatap muka, hubungan jarak jauh dengan beberapa interaksi tatap muka, dan hubungan dekat secara geografis. Hasil penelitian ini tidak semua informan menggunakan Instagram sebagai fasilitator pengembangan hubungan pada masa penjajakan, sebagian di antara mereka hanya menggunakan messenger sebagai media utama untuk memenuhi kebutuhan komunikasinya. Pada masa awal hubungan, para informan menggunakan Instagram sebagai media representasi masa lalu, penarik perhatian dan tolok ukur pemilihan calon pasangan. Memasuki masa berpacaran, Instagram sebagai media pengurangan ketidakpastian, di mana media tersebut sebagai alat pengontrol pasangan di dunia maya. Keberadaan Instagram juga dimanfaatkan untuk publikasi status hubungan sebagai salah satu bentuk kebanggaan dan membentengi pasangan dari orang lain. Sisi negatif dari Instagram dalam hubungan pacaran dapat menimbulkan kesalahpahaman dan kecemburuan yang memunculkan tindakan balas dendam dan pemutusan hubungan.

Abstract

As the capital of the province of Central Java, restaurant growth in Semarang has increased annually. The trend of increasing the number of restaurants and restaurants in the city of Semarang shows that in 2016 rose 43 units to 345 restaurants and restaurants (BPS, 2016). KUROGI as one of the restaurant businesses in Semarang used two types of marketing mix namely interactive marketing through Instagram and sales promotion to reach its target. Despite the high engagement from KUROGI's official Instagram, data showed a decrease in the number of sales. The decline began to occur from January 2019 to June 2019. This income is far from the KUROGI target of Rp. 15,000,000 sales per day. Therefore this thesis tries to explain whether there is an influence of perception of integrated marketing communication on purchasing decisions of KUROGI's consumer. Theories that used in this thesis are The Yale information processing model,AIDA Theory and Prospect Theory. The sampling technique used in this study is a non-random sampling technique specifically purposive sampling consists of 100 samples. Testing is done by using Linear Regression Test and Logistic Regression Test. The results showed that there was an influence of interactive marketing perceptions of brand awareness found significance results of 0.00 1.98472. While the perception of sales promotion variables did not affect brand awareness showed a significance value of 0.460> 0.05 and t value of 0.741 1.98447. Thus, interactive marketing variables can influence purchasing decisions with and without mediation by brand awareness variables and sales promotion variables can directly influence purchasing decisions. Both the AIDA Theory and Prospect Theory can be the basis for explaining how the influence of the variable integrated marketing communication affects purchasing decisions directly or indirectly.

Abstract

This research based on the increasing popularity of multiple accounts consisted of real and anonymous accounts on Instagram among teenagers. Anonymity involved various aspects that generate both positive and negative effects because of the vagueness of an anonymous account. The vagueness of the anonymous account varied between freedom of expression to cyberbullying. The purpose of this research is to analyze the difference between the usage of real and anonymous account as well as the motivation behind the anonymous account. This qualitative descriptive research uses a post-positivist paradigm and content analysis to compare the anonymous and real account of Instagram. Followed by an in-depth interview to understand the experience and motive to use an anonymous account. The concept of Online Disinhibition Effect applied in this research to see positive and negative behavior behind the use anonymous account. The findings show that the anonymity that exists in teen anonymous accounts is not full anonymity, but pseudonym account instead. This pseudonym account becomes an arena for the creation of identity by choosing an identity that is considered to have a certain meaning. However, on anonymous accounts the uploaded content has varied tones namely happy, sad, annoyed tones, compared to the real account which is only dominated by happy tones. In addition, it was found that the reason teens use anonymous accounts because of freedom of expression including better self-disclosure, avoiding mixing of content displayed by Instagram algorithm, protecting privacy on the real account, and as a opportunity for cyberstalking another Instagram users.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between advertising exposure, perceptions on the Attractiveness of Tokopedia’s Brand ambassador, and the Intention in Using Tokopedia as Online Shopping Transaction Platform. This research used Strong Advertising Theory and Source Attractiveness Theory. This study used a sample of 60 people who in age from 18 – 34 years old who had been exposed to Tokopedia advertisement and knew Tokopedia’s brand ambassador. This sample method used nonprobability sampling with accidental techniques. The results showed advertising exposure with the intention in using Tokopedia had a significance value of 0.071 which means there is no significant correlation. Meanwhile, the perception of the attractiveness of Tokopedia brand ambassador and the intention in using Tokopedia has a significant value of 0.000, which means there is a significant correlation. The correlation coefficient is 0.468, which means it has a moderate and positive level of correlation.

Abstract

The research aims to determine The Correlation between The Intensity of Accessing Ajaib's Instagram and The Attractiveness of Ajaib's Brand Ambassador with The Intention in Using Ajaib as Online Investment App. The results showed that the intensity of accessing Ajaib's Instagram with the intention in using Ajaib as online investment app has a significant value of 0.000 and a correlation coefficient value of 0.281, very significant, the strength of the relationship between variables is moderate, and positive level of correlation. The attractiveness of Ajaib’s brand ambassadors with the intention in using Ajaib as online investment app has a significant value of 0.038 and a correlation coefficient value of 0.154, significant, the strength of the relationship between variables is very weak, and positive level of correlation. The Theory of Reasoned Action and Source Attractiveness Model applies in research. The results of this study indicate the importance of social media in consumer buying and purchasing behavior, so it is necessary to pay attention to the quality of the content delivered. This research also helps to measure the success of brand ambassador appeal with interest in using the application.

Abstract

Abstract People may focus on the adverse effect of digital media use among children. It may lead to a lower level of the child’s well-being and kinds of negative psychological implications. In the other hand, the use of digital media also generates some positive impacts on a child’s well-being. Some contextual factors should be discovered in mediating this gap. A systematic literature review was conducted and generated 532 papers. Studies were involved if they used any kinds of digital media among the children. The study methodology was aligned by the PRISMA guidelines for systematic literature review. Screening for those articles remained 21 articles which met the inclusion criteria. This review provides both negative and positive effects of digital media use among the children and its implication for their well-being. The review draws some contextual factors in inflicting the adverse effect of digital media use, and it might some key-points to overcome the negative effects of digital media use on a child’s well-being. Discussion: Some intervention had been conducted to overcome the negative effects of digital media use targeted to the children and parents. This review brings insight for future study to arrange the comprehensive intervention for children, parents, teachers, as well as a peer.
