Abstract

Operating room nurses are health workers who are at risk of exposure to medical waste. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between working period, frequency, duration and exposure to medical waste with health status. The method used in this study was cross sectional with a sample size of 19 respondents. The sampling technique is total sampling. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that there was a relationship between length of work and health status (0.006 <0.05) there was a relationship between frequency and health status (0.024 <0.05) and there was a relationship between duration and health status (0.001 <0.05) and there was a relationship between waste exposure and health status (0.020 < 0.05). Based on the results of the above study it can be concluded that work period, frequency, duration and exposure to medical waste (Operation room) are related to the health status of nurses. So it is hoped that nurses can maintain their health status by protecting themselves while working and routinely carrying out regular health checks.
