Abstract

This research expects to untangle online learning outcomes on students' speaking skill achievement during the pandemic. The method employed in this research was secondary data collection because it was reasonable in this present situation and as an effort to diminish the spread of COVID-19. The number of subjects of the research was seven articles that analyzed secondary students. The research provides information related to the students' speaking skills achievement through online learning. This study reveals that most students decrease learning speaking skills through online learning mode during pandemic COVID-19. The researchers discovered a few problems during the learning process, such as; decreasing pronunciation, lack of seriousness, and becoming less enthusiastic about learning to speak English. Keywords:  Online Learning, Speaking Skills, Achievement

Abstract

A research study that raises issues regarding the challenges faced by students regarding the online learning system due to the pandemic. There are two participants who will be interviewed in this study. Semi-structured interview is the type of interview chosen in this research study there will be three indicators in making interview questions; emotional experiences, the challenges faced, how to deal with the problems. Phenomenology is the research design chosen by the researcher to conduct this research study, and thematic analysis is the method used to analyze the data. From the data that has been taken, the results describe that students are not happy to take part in online learning, because of several obstacles felt by students. Keywords:  Students’ Perception, English Learning Strategies, COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Learning English in elementary schools, it is essential to use textbooks suitable for students because textbooks can support the teaching and learning process in a class by studying the material. Textbooks are ideal for students and can be adapted to Permendikbud No. 8 of the 2016 framework concerning National Education Book Standards used by Education Units. This study aims to describe and analyze the feasibility of an English textbook for grade 5 elementary schools entitled "Hello Jakarta Grade 5" using the analytical framework of the National Education Standards Agency. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing the feasibility of the content of textbooks, starting from the aspects of the material, language, presentation of material, graphics, and components in these aspects by the National Education Standards Agency. According to the National Education Standards Agency, the analysis results show that the book "Hello Jakarta Grade 5" already meets the four criteria for a proper and appropriate book to be used in class as teaching material.
