INOVISH JOURNAL: Journal of Language and Innovation and English Language Teaching is committed to exploring the broad areas of language, creativity and innovation using language as a medium of information and highlighting issues in ELT. Preference is given to articles of English language; articles of this kind will be especially welcome. However, there is no restriction to articles with specifically English content. The journal is published twice a year (June and December) presenting articles containing creativity and innovations using language in producing products , analyses, studies, application of theories, research report, material development, teaching and learning languages and reviews. Contributors are invited from both members of and non-members of the English Department of State Polytechnic of Bengkalis

<![CDATA[Based on the problem found in the classroom, mastering English vocabulary is one of the weekness for the student. It seemed difficult for them to understand some words which are unfamiliar with them or even memorizing them. The use of learning media can be more effective and interesting way in learning.Therefore the researcher decided to solve these problems by applying a matching game which can be used as an alternative learning medium in learning Vocabulary. The participanst of this research were 20 Students of English Depatment. Tihis game was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four meetings; three meetings for teaching the vocabulary by using this media, and one of them was for the test. The research findings showed that matching game could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the improvement of the students score in test. The average score of students in cycle 1 was 63 and in cycle 2 was 66. In conclusion, the implementation of matching game could improve the students’ Vocabulary mastery at first year Students of English Department at State Polytechnic of Bengkalis.]]>

<![CDATA[As a phenomenon that many students are not so interested in the subject of English. One of the causes is lack of supporting media used by teachers to support the learning process. Students get bored in learning process because some teachers are book-minded. This project deals with The Making of Guess Me Game Challenge to Learn Vocabulary for Junior High School students. The formulation of the problem is how to make Guess Me Game Challenge. The study belongs to descriptive research. The purpose of this study is to make Guess Me Game Challenge to help student in learning vocabulary. There are two components in this game; they are self-made and expert-made components. The conclusions made after the making process of this game are the making processes of Guess Me Game Challenge. <![CDATA[Reading is one of receptive skills which lead people learn the context from kinds of information. The readers should be able to find out the main information from the text cearly. In this study, the researcher focused on students’ comprehension skill on reading descriptive text. Having done a pre-research, it was found that there were many students found it difficult to find out specific information from the text they read. Due to the finding, the research was aimed at finding out whether Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method was effective to improve students reading comprehension on descriptive text to second graders at SMPN 5 Takengon. Methodologically, this research referred to quantitative approach with experimental research design. The population of this research was all of the eight grade students of SMP N 5 Takengon with total number 112 students. As many 80 students were chosen to be samples which were divided into two classes, experimental and control, 40 students in each class. The data were analyzed by using t-test. It was found that the value of tobtained is higher than ttable (6.66 > 2.02) at the level of significance 0,05. Meaning, Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method affected students’ reading comprehension ability on descriptive text.]]>

<![CDATA[Dictoglos can be used as a strategy in writing, it is expected that student can improve their writing. The aim of this study was to analyze the use of “Dictoglos†to enlarge senior high school students’ ability in writing. This study was literature study research. The methods of collecting the primary data were documentation and observation. Meanwhile, journals, documentation books, and internet were taken for the secondary data. This study was analyzed using descriptive analysis method. Based on the data analyzed, it can be concluded that Dictoglos is an interesting and exciting strategy that can be applied in teaching writing. This strategy assists the students to reproduce and construct the component of the text. There are six steps in teaching a dictoglos; 1) Selecting a content-related to the text and read it aloud at a normal speaking. 2) Rereading the text twice more. 3) Having the students work in pairs to re-create as much of the text as possible using the note taken by each of the partners to write the text as closely as possible to the original text as read to the teacher. 4) Having two pairs to meet together and pool their re-create of the text to reconstruct it more completely. 5) Having the group of four works together to write down as much of the text as possible. 6) Asking one of each group to read the groups re-creation of the text and ask the other groups to see how closely it matches their version.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of the research was to describe the learning atmosphere during the implementation of “Fix the Mistake Game Bookâ€. Besides, the research was also designed to know how the improvement of the students’ grammar during the implementation of “Fix the Mistake Game Bookâ€. This research was a classroom action research. The research was carried out in first year students of MTSM Penyasawan. This research was conducted in two cycles by following the procedure of action research, i.e. planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results of the research showed that the learning atmosphere also improved. The class became more enthusiastic and feel comfort. Furthermore, Fix The Mistake Game Book was able to improve the students’ grammar mastery. It was proven by the increase of the students’ mean score from 41.34 in pre-test to 47.83 in cycle 1, and 49.84 in cycle 2, although the results of the research were just a little bit improvement. It could be concluded that the use of Fix the Mistake Game Book has proven to be an effective way in teaching-learning of grammar on first year of MTSM Penyasawan.]]>

<![CDATA[An investigation ofcomposition performanceisimportant matter of contention toprobethat one may achievefurthercompelling and authenticending. Paragraph composition performance is one of the concerns.Thetarget of the contemporaryanalysisistoinspectthe extent to which the students’ paragraph composition performance. Therefore, survey study was conceived to achieve the purpose. The third semester students of English Study Program of FKIP – UNISI Tembilahan were determined as the shareholders. They were requiredto composetwo kinds ofparagraph; process paragraph and comparison/contrast paragraph. There are five evaluation criterions; format, punctuation and mechanics, contents, oganization, and sentence structure. Dealing the results ofdata analysis,itdisclosed that theirparagraph composition performance on each compositionelements was diverse. It could be justified from the datawhich sixparticipants (27.3%) worked outin the admirablegrade, nineof them (40.9%) were recognized in competent level, and sevenparticipants (31.8%) could achieve in sufficientcategory. As the final comment, it could be determined that their paragraph compositionperformance was in the sufficient to admirable level. Nevertheless, to gain better endings, more practice isbrought to their mind.]]>

<![CDATA[Entrepreneurship education in Islamic Boarding Schools (Pondok Pesantren) is still growing in certain areas in various parts of Indonesia. According to data from Ministry of Religious Affairs Yogyakarta (2018), there are 288 Islamic Boarding Schools (Pondok Pesantren) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Although some Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren) still implement education traditionally and only in the form of religious education, some of them are already modern enough to introduce the importance of learning English to their santri. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, which produces descriptive data in the form of written or oral words from people and observable behavior. This approach is directed towards the background and the whole individual. The first step is profiling all Pondok Pesantren in Sleman Regency. Then Pondok Pesantren Nawesea is selected because it has an area of excellence in English curriculum with various learning activities using English language. After collecting data and visiting Pondok Pesantren Nawesea, several conclusions and description were drawn and it influenced the implementation of English learning in the entrepreneurship education. The next step is to make observations about the understanding of students toward entrepreneurial competencies in enterprenurship education in Pondok Pesantren Nawesea. Regarding the result of the study, the researcher concludes that it is undeniable that Pondok Pesantren Nawesea (Nawesea Islamic boarding school) has an excellent implementation of English language learning for students, especially for its language intensive programs. The other main objective soon to be developed is to implement entrepreneurial competencies of santri in Pondok Pesantren Nawesea. The data from the observations of this research shown that the closest step that can be taken is to build Kopontren (Kooperasi Pesantren) in which the management activities can involve independent students (santri mandiri) in Pondok Pesantren Nawesea.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract: This study tries to find out which components of Public Speaking actually make the students interested in English speech and English teaching. This is a descriptive qualitative study where the data for the research were collected through a self-administered questionnaire distributed to all students of the fourth semester at English Study Program of State Polytechnic of Bengkalis – Riau.  The technique used to collect the data was done by asking the students to watch a video of a speech and then answer the questionnaire given. The questionnaire was set based on relevant literature review and also focused on condition of the students based on daily observation done by the writer during his teaching Public Speaking subject to the students. After collecting the data, the writer sorted the data by summarizing and choosing the specific category, displaying and verifying the data analysis and making the conclusion from the finding data. The findings of this research are hoped to give another point of view to English lecturers to realize certain parts of teaching that actually can make it more interesting for the students. The result of this study shows that Story Telling and Body Language performed by a speaker or a lecturer are among the most interesting aspects that make them interested in an English speech or teaching. Beside, this study also reveals that lack of Pauses and Visual Aids performed by the lecturers make their teaching become less interesting.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract This research aims to analyze the ability and problem of students in writing analytical exposition text. The participants of this research were the students at XI IPA 2 SMAN I Ulakan Tapakis. The type of this research was descriptive research. The data of the research was collected by administering writing task. The data collected were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The finding shows that the ability of students in writing thesis arguments, reiteration, language features (Simple present, passive voice and conjunction), vocabulary and mechanics was unsatisfactory. Furthermore they had some problems in writing thesis arguments, reiteration, language features (Simple present, passive voice and conjunction), vocabulary and mechanics. From the data gotten, it can be concluded that the students had unsatisfactory performance in writing analytical exposition text. Key words: students’ability, students’ problems, analytical exposition text.]]>
