Abstract

The effect of different manufacturing processes, such as arc melting, mechanical alloying, and baking, on the crystalline and magnetic behavior of Co2MnSi, Co2MnGa, and Co2MnGe compounds was investigated. Samples of Co2MnSi, Co2MnGe, and Co2MnGa compounds were produced using the arc melting method and the effect of mechanical alloying and annealing processes on the manufactured products was investigated. The results showed that the use of different processes during manufacturing leads to different crystalline and magnetic behaviors of the sample. One of these cases is the correlation of the crystal order with the lattice parameter size in the produced samples and its effect on reducing the saturation magnetization compared to Slater and Pauling's prediction. Also, the change of order induced by the mechanical alloying process in the production of Co2MnSi composition has led to a drop of about 14% in saturation magnetization. The coercivity in the sample produced by arc melting and mechanical alloying in Co2MnGe composition is lower than the expected value, which was attributed to the low magnetic anisotropy of the sample due to the small size of the crystals in this sample, which is compensated in the cooking process. For example, performing the grinding process before baking leads to a change in the crystal order and, consequently, to a decrease in the saturation magnetization of the sample. The final baking increases the size of the crystals and reduces the strain. The sample obtained from grinding after arc melting had more coercivity than the other two samples due to having smaller crystals.

Abstract

This development research will produce a product in the form of a comic-based physics module on vibration and wave material. The research objectives are to determine: (1) Feasibility, (2) practicality, and (3) the effectiveness of the module to improve students' critical thinking skills. The research uses Research & Development which refers to the development of ADDIE namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The analysis and design stages are developed based on the needs of students by displaying the discussion of comic characters which aims to make students able to think critically. The product validation stage involves 4 validators, namely two media experts and 2 material experts to assess the module design, material feasibility, and language feasibility. The results of the validation of the feasibility of the module obtained 82% from the 2 media experts and 82% from the 2 material experts--all of which were within the category of "Very Valid". The implementation phase was carried out at SMP Negeri 2 Wagir with 26 students of class VIII as the subject. The results of the study are: (1) the practicality of the module is 93% within the "Very Positive" category for the 26 student responses, while for the physics teachers, it is 95% within the "Very Positive" category; (2) the effectiveness of the module is indicated by an increase in students' critical thinking skills with an N-gain of 0.68 under the "Medium" category of improvement. Thus, it can be concluded that the comic-based physics module produced in this study is suitable for use in learning vibration and wave materials.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not using the phyphox application affects student learning outcomes in terms of prior knowledge and student responses. This research was conducted in high school, using a quasi-experimental research method (quasi-experimental). The design model of this research was pre-test and post-test using a randomized design by giving an initial test before learning and a final test after learning. In this study, two classes were involved as representatives of the experimental class, given the behavior of learning hypothetical deductive thinking strategies using Phyphox media. In contrast, the control class was used as a comparison of Phyphox tools. The results showed that the experimental class students' learning outcomes were superior to those of the control class. It is shown in the comparison data of the N-Gain value and the results of hypothesis testing. Several covariate parameters also support this research. The percentage change in the practical contribution's value and each parameter's relative contributions shows that the test has improved.

Abstract

This type of research is quantitative research that aims to reduce students' misconceptions through learning a conceptual change model with a cognitive conflict approach (CCM-CCA). The population in this study were students of the Physics Education Study Program, the University of Mataram, and students of the Surabaya State University Science Education Study Program. The sample in this study amounted to 56 second-semester students at both universities, each of which amounted to 29 people. The CCM-CCA used has been validated in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities and has been declared valid in content and construct so that it is appropriate to use. Data in this study were obtained through misconceptions tests, observations of conceptual changes and cognitive conflicts, and the interview process. Data analysis in this study used descriptive analysis by looking at the comparison of the percentage of students who had misconceptions before and after being given treatment and analyzing the level of cognitive conflict. The results of this study indicate that the CCM-CCA learning model is effective in reducing student misconceptions. Conceptual changes and cognitive conflicts that occur in students are included in the high and very high categories, and the results of structured interviews show that students experience 4 thought processes while learning CCM-CCA which helps students to change their conceptions from initially experiencing misconceptions to understanding scientific concepts.

Abstract

Based on geological conditions, Indonesia is located between the Indo-Australian plate, the Eurasian plate, and the Pacific plate, making Indonesia prone to tectonic earthquakes. However, since the big earthquake that occurred in Aceh on December 26, 2004, the geological conditions in Sumatra have undergone significant changes marked by stressful situations in the western to southern regions of Sumatra, especially on Sibayak Volcano. This study used data from BMKG and Global CMT, which included magnitude (Mw), depth, earthquake coordinates (longitude and latitude), type of earthquake, strike, dip, and rake. From the analysis using Coulomb 3.3, the highest coulomb stress value of Sibayak Volcano was obtained in 2015 with an average change in coulomb stress of 0.235 bar, shear 0.1909 bar, normal 0.1106 bar. However, the lowest coulomb stress value occurs in 2021 with a moderate shift in coulomb stress of 0.0593 bar, shear 0.0251, normal 0.0849 bar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether video-assisted blended learning influences the cognitive learning outcomes of junior high school students on wave and sound materials. This research is quantitative research. The method used in this study is pre-experimental designs with one group pretest-posttest. The sample in this study encompassed 31 students from class VIII-10 of SMP Negeri 4 Samarinda. Data collection uses a multiple-choice test consisting of 24 questions. The results showed that the use of video-assisted blended learning influences students’ cognitive learning outcomes. This was evidenced by the students’ experiencing an increase in cognitive knowledge learning outcomes during the 3-meeting learning. Here, the n-gain obtained from the means of the pretest and posttest was 0.61, which was more than 0.30 and less than 0.70. Therefore, it was concluded that the increase in the students’ learning outcomes was moderate.
