Darmabakti Cendekia: Journal of Community Service and Engagements (DC) is a scientific journal in community service and engagements published by Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga. Abstract

Background: Since time immemorial the existence of dental artisans has been neglected, even though many members of the community are involved as consumers of existing dental artisans. The dental artisans at Resik Village, Sambeng sub-district, Lamongan City do not yet know the dangers of cross infection when making dentures and how to do to prevent it. Objective: This activity aims to increase the awareness of dental artisans to avoid cross-infection between dental artisans and consumers. Method: This activity for the Resik Village community was carried out in the form of socialization to dental artisan partners, demonstrations on how to use disinfectant materials to dental artisans, as well as evaluation and monitoring of programs in the field. Results: This activity program was attended by 40 dental artisan participants where only 10 participants participated face-to-face due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Thirty other participants were given a video socialization of the activity. Disinfection socialization activities were carried out in 2 ways, namely disinfection by immersing teeth in a disinfectant solution and by dipping the teeth in a disinfectant solution. spray method. Conclusion: The participants gained additional knowledge about cross-infection, the consequences of these infections, and how to carry out disinfection when making dentures.

Abstract

Background: Maintaining student motivation, involvement and consistency in a learning process is a challenge that must be faced by teachers / educators. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, this limits learning activities in online form. Teachers / educators need additional skills to be able to manage classes, deliver material and maintain student motivation. Objective: This community service aims to improve the skills of teachers / educators to provide interactive learning and evaluation media based on game learning. Methods: The methods used in this community service activity were training and focus group discussions. Furthermore, the participants prepared the Kahoot quiz material independently according to the subjects they were teaching them. Result: The result of this training activity is an increase in the skills of teachers / educators in mastering Kahoot, and an increase in teacher / educator understanding of the Kahoot material. This can be seen from the occasional increase of 15.97% after the training was completed. The training participants were satisfied with the implementation of the training as evidenced by filling out the feedback questionnaire, with a satisfaction score above 3.5 out of 4. Conclusion: This community service has a positive impact on skills and understanding related to the use of Kahoot for interactive learning and evaluation media.

Abstract

Background: The beef cattle farming in Tuban area is mostly on a small scale and traditionally maintained. In general, the nutritional adequacy of the animal feed provided is not optimal, while the potential for livestock in the area is quite large. There are still few breeders who provide concentrates on the grounds that the high costs incurred so that the weight growth of beef cattle is still not optimal. Bolus Temulawak is an animal feed substitute for concentrate with temulawak as an additive. Objective: This activity aims to strengthen the economy of beef cattle farmers through the introduction, dissemination, and transfer of temulawak bolus technology as an alternative feed with sufficient nutritional value for beef cattle so that daily weight gain can be maximized. Methods: This activity held towards community empowerment such as coaching related to feed and livestock health by FGD (Focus Group Discussion) followed by training on making Bolus Temulawak and application of Bolus Temulawak to beef cattle. Evaluation of this activity is pre and post test of community service participants, as well as body weight measurement of beef cattle before and after being given Bolus Temulawak. Results: The results of this community service are an increase in daily body weight of beef cattle, as well as an increase in the knowledge and skills of community service participants. Conclusion: Community service activities have a positive impact on the development of beef cattle farms in partner areas.

Abstract

Background: Food safety and quality studied by BPOM Indonesia in 2008-2011 showed that around 48% of hazardous substances are found in snacks of elementary school children. Throughout 2012, this percentage increased to 66.7%. Cases of chemical contamination that are still frequently found are the use of additives such as formaldehyde, borax and rhodamine B. Lack of supervision and education to children causes the possibility of consuming dangerous foods to be large thus increasing the risk to health. Objective: This activity was conducted to improve understanding, knowledge and awareness of the community, especially students about the risk of using hazardous additives in snacks. Method: Stages of community service activities include: (1) Pre-activity; (2) Implementation; and (3) Evaluation. The method used was a combination of community education and demonstration. In the core of the activity, there were three sub-activities implemented. Results: An increase in understanding hazardous additives in snacks for students was achieved. It was known that the sample circulating around school did not contain rhodamine B and borax. Futhermore, students can practice one simple way to implement clean and healthy living. Conclusion: The program provided an increase in understanding and awareness of hazardous additives in snacks for students.

Abstract

Background: Many elderly convey blood sugar often up and down due to lack of attention to their diet. The condition became urgent because the elderly had previously died from complications accompanied by diabetic ulcers. In the posyandu area of wonorejo healthy elderly, DM disease is one of the diseases that are quite widely suffered by its citizens. Objective: The DSME education program for cadres and the elderly at Posyandu Wonorejo aims to increase knowledge and prevent diabetes complications. Method: This DSME program was conducted in four sessions, namely, session 1 discussing basic knowledge about DM (definition, etiology, classification, etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, complications), session 2 discussing DM management including nutrition/diet arrangements, and physical activities/exercises that can be done, session 3 discussing foot care and stress management; and session 4 discusses the prevention of chronic and acute complications, and the patient's access to health care facilities. Results: There was an increase in knowledge and prevention of diabetes complications up to 93,75% after this activity was conducted.. Conclusion: The program is optimally implemented.

Abstract

Background: Transmission of COVID-19 developed rapidly until the World Health Organization (WHO) established a pandemic status on COVID-19 since March 11, 2020. Various of government efforts in the context of prevention and treatment have been carried out including lockdowns decisision, social distancing and new normal was currently carried out. Objective: This community service activity aims as an effort to increase the knowledge and awareness of South Konawe communities to prevent and fight covid-19 by clean and healthy living behaviors. Method: The implementation of this activity using socialization and persuasive communication online methods via social media instagram and youtube and offline method performed in two categories, small-scale and large-scale at South Konawe. These community service activities are outlined in 4 main programs, GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement), GEMAS (Community Movement Using Masks), socialization about TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants), antiseptics and disinfectants. Results: The result of this program is increasing public knowledges about how to improve the immune system, such as consuming nutritious food, consuming herbs which can be processed into an infusion or decocta preparations as well as understand the importance of implementing about prevention of covid-19 in daily life, such wearing masks, antiseptics, and disinfectants and washing hand correctly. Conclusion: This community service activity really helped increase the knowledge and awareness of the community of South Konawe to prevent and fight the corona virus.

Abstract

Background: In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, hoax news emerged which often caused people to panic and make wrong decisions. The emergence of this hoax is because many people are not literate with information, so they trust all the information that is circulating. People also do not have social awareness to filter the information they get. Objective: This article aims to present the results of the socialization of digital literacy education to anticipate hoax news. Method: The method used in this community service is to provide socialization on the dangers of hoaxes and literacy education digital to anticipate hoax news, then explain how to search for valid and accurate information. Results: The result of this community service activity was an increase in public understanding of how to find valid and accurate Covid-19 information / news. As well as people's understanding of how to differentiate between true and false information about Covid-19. Conclusion: This community service activity has a positive impact on increasing public understanding of the spread of Covid-19 news on the internet.
