Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism which characterized by hyperglycemia conditions. One of the mechanism from oral hypoglycemic drug is inhibition of α-glucosidase activity. Dillenia suffruticosa (Griff.) Martelli, known as "simpur air" has been used to treat diabetes mellitus. This study aims to determine the inhibition activity of α-glucosidase enzyme from water and ethanol extract simpur air leaves. Simpur air leaves extracted with water and ethanol 70% using maceration method. Parameter evaluated in this research were phytocemical screening and alpha glucosidase inhibiting (AGI) activity. The results showed that the active compounds in water and ethanol extracts were flavonoids, saponins and tannins. AGI activity in water extract from simpur air leaves at concentrations of 1%, 1.5% and 2% were 1.49%, 2.76% and 3.91%, respectively. AGI activity in ethanol extract from simpur air leaves at concentrations of 1%, 1.5% and 2% were 92.10%, 98.10% and 118.30%, respectively. While the AGI activity from glucobay were 99.50%. The optimum of AGI activity was in 1.5% ethanol extract. This AGI acivity which was not significantly different (α<0.05) from the 1% glucobay.

Abstract

High content of sitrulin can contribute to oxidative stress as a free radical scavenger. Plants from the Cucurbitaceae family are found in high quantities of Citrulline. One of Cucurbitaceae family is cantaloupe (Cucumis melo L.) The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity which is optimal in the flesh and rind cantaloupe against extraction methods. The method was used maceration with the ethanol and water, methods of digestion and decocta only with water solvent. The high antioxidant activity was shown by ethanol extract cantaloupe was rind maceration method (583.19 mg/L). In the water extract, rind maceration method of cantaloupe provides antioxidant activity (722.17 mg/L) were significantly different (P<0,05) than the water solvent digestion method and decocta method. However, the antioxidant activity of the flesh and rind extract from cantaloupe is lower than vitamin C.

Abstract

Synthesis of silver nanoparticle and determination of its antibacteial activity for Staphylococcus aureus were studied in this research. Silver nanoparticle (NPAg) were synthesized using method green synthesisby reacting extract peel of onion (Allium cepaL.) and silver nitrate (AgNO3). NPAg synthesis used variation AgNO3 0,1mM (F1); 0,5mM (F2) and 1,0mM (F3). Characterization using UV-Visible spektroscopy and Particle Size Analyzer (PSA). UV-Visible spektroscopy analysis showed that the NPAg at F2 and F3 in 400-500 nm wavelenght. The particle size used PSA at F1, F2 and F3 in 390,7 nm, 62,34 nm and 50,63 nm. F3 has been tested for antibacteial activity S.aureus, the result showed that the antibacterial activity at F3 much better than AgNO3 1,0 mM which is not nanometer scale.

Abstract

Conyzoides ageratum L. known as babadotan leaves is herbal medicine which been used to threat a variety of diseases, including drugs open wounds. Previous research states that the ethyl acetate extract of babadotan leaves real healing effect (significant) on an open wound that is at a concentration of 40% and 80%. Based on that, do preliminary research aims to determine the effectiveness of the ointment preparations ethanolic extract of babadotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L.) against the open wound healing in rabbits. This type of research is a laboratory experiment. Simplicia babadotan leaf powder extracted using maceration methods. Babadotan leaf ethanolic extract ointment made within 5 concentration that is 30%, 35%, 40%, 45% and 50%. On testing ointment organoleptic test, homogeneity test, dispersive power test and pH test. Test the effectiveness of healing of open wounds using seven groups: negative control (without treatment), positive control (povidone iodine), ointments ethanol extract of babadotan leaves (SEDB) 30%, 35% SEDB, SEDB 40%, SEDB 45%, 50% SEDB against 3 white rabbits weighing 3-3.5 kg and a length of 1.5 cm open wound, was done and observed until 8 days. The data were processed statistically using One Way ANOVA (Analysis Of Variant). These results indicate that leaf ethanolic extract ointment babadotan 40%, 45% and 50% has a healing effect on open wounds in rabbits, the effect is almost similar to the positive control which leaves extract ointment babadotan with a concentration of 45%, while the ointment babadotan leaf extracts that provide the most excellent effect that an ointment at a concentration of 50%.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer suffered by women around the world. Breast cancer is known that has relationship with chronic inflammation that is controlled by cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Pericarp of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) contains a class compound of xanthone. The compound has potential as an inhibitor of the COX-2enzyme.The purpose of this research is to know the most active compound of xanthone compounds. Potential of xanthone compounds tested the toxicityby using Toxtree, the analysis of toxicity is focused on the carcinogenycity and mutagenicity.The result of toxicity test of ligand compound with Toxtree software found that the compound of 1-Isomangostin hydrate, 3-Isomangostin hydrate, Euxanthon, BR-xanthone A,Garcimangosone B and Garcimangosone D predicted safe for use as medicine. Then the compound itself analyzed based on the criteria of Lipinski's Rule of Five to predict the drug absorption in the human body. The analysis showed,five compounds fulfilled the criteria of Lipinski except Garcimangosone D. Further analysis was molecular docking using Autodock VinaA had a binding energy (ΔG) the best that was -10.1 kcal / mol if it compared to other test compounds, approaching the binding energy (ΔG) comparative compound of celecoxib -12.4 kcal / mol.

Abstract

Ethanol extract 70% of bintaro leaves could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Bintaro leaf extract (Cerbera odollam Gaertn) has chemical content of flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins. In this research was made preparation gel ethanol extract 70% from bintaro leaves (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) and determine the formulation of gel preparation having good physical quality and have antibacterial effectivity. Physical quality tested such as homogeneity, organoleptic, viscosity, pH, spreadability, stability and antibacterial effectiveness test against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using the disk diffusion method. The results showed that ethanol extract gel of 70% of bintaro leaves had good physical quality and best antibacterial effectiveness was found in Formulation III with 5% concentration. Based on one-way ANOVA analysis with Duncan assay, each formulation with different concentrations had a significant difference with α = 0.05.

Abstract

People often use medicinal plants as an alternative to healing the wound. Injuries are often experienced by the human body either intentionally or unintentionally. The cut is a wound caused by an incision of a sharp object, wood and so on. One of the herbs that is often used as a traditional drug therapy is a meniran leaf that can help wound healing. The aim of this research is to know the effect of thick leaf extract of meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) in accelerating the healing time of the wound on Sprague-Dawley male white rat. Gravy leaf extract was obtained from infusa process with water solvent at temperature below 60oC for 15 minutes. This test was made by 6 groups with negative control (wound left), positive control (given betadine) and given the thickness of leaves leaves concentrate 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Meniran leaf-thick extract wastopicallyadministered in four concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, extracted with sterile gauze with 2 cm deep cuts and 0.2 cm depth on the lower rats. The results showed that from each treatment the concentration has the ability to heal the wound, but has different values. The conclusions of this study were the fastest meniran leaf extracts for healing wounds in Sprague-Dawley Sprague-white male rats were concentrations of 100% and 75%.

Abstract

Prescription care is an integral part of pharmaceutical care at Primary Health Facility. Evaluation of prescription care standard at Primary Health Facility Cibungbulang was done by comparing the implementation of prescription care in Primary Health Facility with prescription prescribing standard according to Permenkes No 74 of 2016 about standard of pharmaceutical care at Primary Health Facility. A descriptive observational study was conducted on 324 samples. Data were collected using an observation table. The results showed that the date of prescribing, dosage, quantity of drug, rules of procedure and technique of use, accuracy of dose, time of drug use, preparation / compounding, delivery was done well with percentage of 100%. While other components such as patient id, paraf doctor, drug form, availability, drug side effects, label or etiquette, the provision of drug information that has not met the Pharmaceutical Care Standard in Primary Health Facility.

Abstract

Psidium guajava Linn. known as guava leaves is a medicinal plant that has been used to treat diseases, including burns medicine. From the results of the study note that the extract of guava leaves ethanol can heal burns. To facilitate its use, then made ointment preparations of guava ethanol extracts. The purpose of this research is to make an ointment formula ethanol extract of guava leaves which has a healing effectiveness on a second degree burns. Extraction of guava leaf made by the process of maceration, then the liquid extract was concentrated by rotary evaporator to obtain a concentrated extract of guava leaf. An ointment formulations ethanol extract of guava leaf are made with concentrations respectively 30%, 35%, and 40. The effectiveness test of the healing of burns grade II using 5 groups: negative control (ointment base), positive control (Bioplacenton®), ointments ethanol extract of guava leaves 30%, 35%, and 40%. The study was conducted . of male white rats with severe between 200 – 400 grams. Observations up to 21st day. These result by using Tukey Test indicate that the concentration of guava leaf extract 35% , The results of this study indicate that the variation concentration of guava leaf extract gives a healing effect that does not differ significantly to healing second degree burns in male white rats.

Abstract

Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor types are particularly deadly. Patients with pancreatic cancer are generally treated with chemoradiotherapy and gemcitabine, but still provide a good clinical outcome. This study aims to determine the ratio of the potential of bruceine D as inhibitors of protein NFĸB transcription of pancreatic cancer cells by the Gibbs free energy (ΔG), inhibition constants, hydrogen interactions are flexible and rigid docking. Based on the analysis docking, docking flexibly deliver better results than rigid. Additionally, bruceine D provides the potential for better inhibition than gemcitabine.
