Abstract

Learning designing becomes an important part of the process to achieve learning objectives. Likewise, when teachers enhancestudents’ scientific literacy, the efforts must also be made from the learning design. The design of learning based on scientific literacy becomes very important when the orientation of science learning is not just to achieve cognitive aspects, but even more to the students' ability to apply science and have the attitude and ability to make decisions related to science in their lives. One important aspect in the design of learning based on scientific literacy is the relevance of the context of science to concepts or knowledge. For students inKepulauan Riau, the maritime context is very relevant to be discussed in the body of science. Through intensive training at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang, biology and chemistry teachers were trained to design science literacy-based learning and maritime-based contexts. The learning design developed refers to the STL (science and technology literacy) approach which has 5 stages of learning, namely the contact stage, the elaboration stage (content), the curriculum stage, decision making, and the nexus stage. From the results of the mentoring by the training facilitator, 2 learning designs were produced (biology and chemistry subjects). The maritime context is integrated in the material Biodiversity (for Biology) and Petroleum (for Chemistry).

Abstract

Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan para guru di SMPN 7 Kota Bengkulu mengenai model pembelajaran inovatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode pelatihan dengan ceramah dan tanya jawab serta demonstrasi yang dilakukan oleh beberapa guru dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang inovatif. Peserta dalam kegiatan ini adalah dewan guru SMPN 7 Kota Bengkulu yang berjumlah 13 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah angket. Tim pelaksana membagikan angket untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta pelatihan sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan diadakan. Hasilnya adalah terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan guru tentang model pembelajaran inovatif yaitu sebagai berikut, pengetahuan awal 45%, pengetahuan tentang teknik pelaksanaan sebesar 50%, pengetahuan mendalam sebesar 50%, dan pengetahuan tentang referensi sebesar 45%.

Abstract

The purpose of this service is to improve the ability of teachers at SMPN 7 Bengkulu City in writing scientific papers. The method used in this pegabdian activity is a training method by way of lectures and direct demonstrations for trainees. Participants in this activity were the board of teachers of SMP Negeri 7 Bengkulu City, totaling 13 people. The instrument used in this training was a questionnaire that was distributed to participants before and after the training to see whether or not there was an increase in the knowledge of the trainees. This training resulted in an increase in teacher knowledge about scientific work, namely knowledge of reference lists and publication journals by 55%, structure knowledge of scientific works by 40%, technical knowledge of writing scientific papers by 50%, and psychological and economic constraints by 50%.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk: (1) memberikan pengenalan kepada guru-guru IPA SMP Kota Tanjungpinang mengenai media pembelajaran Virtual Reality sebagai alternative media pembelajaran berbasis IT, dan (2) melatih guru-guru IPA SMP Kota Tanjungpinang untuk mampu memanfaatkan media pembelajaran berbasis Virtual Reality. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode pelatihan yang dilakukan selama 3 tahap, tahap pertama pelatihan terkait pengenalan macam-macam media pembelajaran yang digunakan sesuai dengan perkembangan Revolusi Industri 4.0 salah satu media yang digunakan adalah media pembelajaran berbasis Virtual Reality. Pelatihan tahap 2 dengan materi tentang pelatihan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis Virtual Reality dalam pembelajaran serta tahap ketiga melakukan evaluasi dan pemantapan. Kegiatan pelatihan yang dilakukan mendapat respon positif dari guru-guru ditunjukkan dengan antusiasme peserta selama kegiatan serta sikap positif untuk mengaplikasikan media pembelajaran berbasis Virtual Reality dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi di era Revolusi Industri 4.0.

Abstract

The English learning experience especially Grammar should be done in a fun way and make the language learners master the concept well. The importance of mastering Grammar well facilitates language learners to construct English sentences from various tenses. Coastal language learners have not been given good grammar understanding and do not have enough time to learn grammar in schools. To master Grammar, Stepping the 5 Stairs "A" technique offers fun grammar learning. There are already many techniques offered. However, the existing techniques do not accommodate the characteristics of the language learning methods of those from certain regions. The descriptive approach is a method of implementing community service. The team conducted a site survey and interviews with several residents’ representatives and coastal learners’ parents. The community service location is in Senggarang Village where foreign tourists pay a visit. The results of the community service are: (1) An increase in the knowledge and understanding of coastal learners about Grammar learning by using the Stepping the 5 Stairs "A" technique, (2) Coastal learners’the motivation to continue learning Grammar, and (3) There are requests from coastal learners, parents, RT, RW, and Karang Taruna Senggarang to the team to continue similar activities going forward

Abstract

The change in curriculum aims to improve the quality of content and learning. One of the backgrounds of the curriculum revision is based on international tests on students’ competency and literation, such as PISA. In PISA, literacy-numeracy becomes one of the essential evaluation of mathematics competency. Therefore, the use of literacy problems should be administered in the primary school class. In order to implement the literacy-numeracy problem in the class well, the teachers are required to be able to develop functional literacy problems. This workshop on writing literacy-numeracy for elementary teachers in Ponorogo City was conducted in three stages. The first stage collected the fundamental knowledge of the teachers about what they understand about literacy-numeracy. The second stage was a discussion about the literacy-numeracy and its both background and classroom implementation, especially in elementary school. The last stage was the teachers’ workshop in arranging the literacy-numeracy problems. In the end, the problems developed by the teachers were analyzed based on literacy-numeracy criteria. Besides, the participants also gave feedback using a questionnaire as the information for the effectivity of the workshop.

Abstract

In the industrial revolution 4.0 era, teacher needs to utilize information and communication technology (ICT) in learning. The professionalism competencies proclaimed by teachers also require teachers to be able to develop interactive and interesting learning media so that there is an increase in the quality of learning. This challenge is inversely proportional to the conditions in the field, namely that there are no teachers in the Mathematics Teacher Association(MGMP) at SMA and SMK in Bintan Regency who develop learning multimedia and utilize technology such as social media as learning media. For this reason, Community Service (PkM) activities needs to be conducted, with theme disseminating learning multimedia with videoscribe on social media (e-learning). The PkM activity was concluded to be going well with indicator 1) 100% participant (teacher) got involved during mentoring; 2) the production of learning video by teachers and the dissemination of the learning videos on the YouTube channel; 3) teacher participants require for more training activities.

Abstract

This community service activity aims at socializing the implementation of character education to families in Sebauk community and training families in Sebauk community on how to implement character education. The approach was socialization and implementation through lecture, discussion, and training the family members. The result of this activity was the increase of knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes of Sebauk community about the eighteen character values ​​that must be implemented in educating children in each Sebauk family.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to train lecturers of Universitas PGRI Palembang in writing scientific article, making presentation, and mathematics equations using LaTeX application, as well as understanding their responses toward the activity. This activity conducted employing assisting model with sharing tools, materials, and demonstration method, whereas 23 participants from different faculties joint the training. The response shows very positive satisfaction for all indicators with the range of 86% - 94%. The highest response is on the importance of the program, while time efficiency item scored 86%. All participants wish for sustainable training with longer time period.

Abstract

Kegiatan pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru-guru MGMP matematika SMP di Kota Palembang dalam penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Diharapkan nantinya guru-guru tersebut dapat menghasilkan penelitian yang berkualitas dan juga berkesinambungan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk kegiatan workshop pelatihan. Sebelumnya guru-guru diberikan bekal berupa materi mengenai penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), model-model dan metode yang dapat digunakan di dalam penelitian. Selanjutnya guru-guru diarahkan untuk membuat membuat proposal PTK untuk kemudian di implementasikan di sekolah guna pengambilan data penelitian. Setelah guru-guru mengimplementasikan di kelas yang mereka ajar diharapkan akan didiapatkan data yang untuk selanjutnya diarahkan untuk pembuatan artikel ilmiah dari penelitian tersebut. Untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan yang telah ditetapkan, dalam kegiatan ini digunakan metode presentasi, diskusi, dan simulasi. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah terlaksananya pelatihan pengembangan profesi guru di MGMP Kota Palembang yang diikuti oleh 27 orang guru. Selain itu telah dihasilkan contoh proposal PTK yang dibuat oleh guru-guru tersebut sebagai hasil dari kegiatan pendampingan
