In writing a text report the results of observation require the ability of thelanguage field, specifically the ability to use spelling. To give students a good understanding ofspelling, special strategies are needed. Strategies that can be used to explore students' competenciesin the spelling field are problem based learning. In this strategy students are required to be moreactive and creative in solving problems given by the teacher. This strategy is applied to students ofClass X Science 2 at Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya High School. After applying problem-based learningbased on the results obtained that the average ability of students in understanding spelling is above75%. Only a small proportion of groups whose ability is under 75%. The most mistake students makeis in using comma (,) punctuation. The least mistake made is the use of period punctuation

Abstract

Development of interactive learning media flip book using Kvisoft flipbook maker based on local culture and art is one way to utilize technology education in the form of software kvisoft flipbook maker which is integrated with local cultural arts and produced a development product in the form of learning media for mathematics flip book. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of developing flip book learning media and the effectiveness of learning media flip book in the learning process in class. The subjects in this study were 30 students consisting of 16 men and 14 women in rade VII junior high school in Indonesia. The development model in this study uses the 4D model which consists of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The development process in this study starts from the stage define by conducting initial initial analysis, student analysis, taskanalysis, concept analysis, and learning objective specifications; the next stage is the stage design by conducting a benchmark reference test, media selection, format, and initial media design; the next stage is the stage develop by conducting expert validation and development testing; and the last stage is the stage disseminate by packaging media and distributing media in the same school scope with different classes. The development of this learning media flip book can be an alternative choice in the use of mathematics learning media, especially in social arithmetic material.

Abstract

In learning in schools there are still many teachers using a teacher-centered learning model orTeacher Center. In teacher-centered learning, the teacher can control or organize the material andtime completely, but communication only occurs in one direction so that learning runs passively.Teacher-centered learning conditions are not as expected in the 2006 Ministry of Education Regulation, which is expected to learn mathematics in students having the ability to think logically, analytically, systematically, critically, and creatively, and have the ability to work together. One learning modelthat can help students develop critical and logical thinking skills is Problem Based Learning (PBL). InPBL, the teacher's function is as a facilitator which means preparing all the facilities needed in learningactivities. PBL becomes better if it is associated with the approach Higher Order Thinking(HOT)because the estuary of higher-order thinking patterns is able to solve problems From theobservations of student learning activities the HOT-PBL approach includes activities namely: motoractivity, mental activity, and emotional activity students during learning take place in the classroomwith the HOT-PBL approach get a good category, which means students are classified as activestudents. While the results of the test which includes HOT-PBL questions obtained 85.7% masteryachievement which means that 85.7% of students achieved individual completeness.
