Abstract

The  research  about  structure  and  distribution  of sapling  strata  vegetation  has  been  done  at  mangrove forest ecosystems  in Bengkalis  Islands  Riau Province  from  March until November 2002. This study used quadrate methods  with quadrate was placed  along o f transect.  Ten quadrate  (10x5 m ) was make on the transects   with   systematically   systems,   Observation   variable   are   Relative   Density   (KR),   Relative frequency  (FR),  Relative  Dominance  (DR)  and  Informace  Value.  The results  of data   analysis  showed that  generally  was  founded  21  species  frok,  sapling  stratum,  That  dominance  species is Rhyzophora apiculata (132,79% ) at  location  VII (Desa  Selat  Baru),  that what  founded  2 sapling  strata  vegetation (Rhizophora  apiculata dan  Rhizophora  mucronata)  has  been  distributed   all  o f area  study  (100%),  at mangrove  forest of Bengkalis  Islands   Key words : Mangrove, structure,  strata,, sapling, vegetation

Abstract

Vegetative growth performance of two varieties of maize by  pulp and paper waste application has been studied  in  peat  soils  using  Factorial  Completely  Randomized  Design  in  biological  garden,  faculty  of education  and  teacher training,  Riau  University.  The  experiments were arrange by  factorial 2 x 5   and three replications. First factor was two maize varieties i.e. Arjuna and Bisi-2. Second factor was Pulp and Paper waste taken from Riau Pulp and Paper Industry. Rate of application were 0,  15, 20, 25, and 30 gr kg 1peat soils. Plant height, leaf length, leaf wide and plant dry weight were measured. Data analyzed by using ANAVA  dan  Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at 5% level of signification.  The results  shows that plant height and leaf length has significance difference between two maize varieties, but not for leaf wide and dry weight. There were no significant interactions effects for all parameters observed. We conclude that the varieties of Arjuna more tolerance and adaptive to  peat soil.Key words : pulp and paper industrial waste, maize tolerance, vegetative growth

Abstract

A  surveys  of  three  station  along  the  nesting  beach  for  distribution  nesting  analysis  with  beach characteristics  and  microclimatic  nesting  green  turtles  Chelonia  mydas in  Pulau  Jemur-Riau  was conducted  in  April- July  2002.  The  spatial  distribution  along  the  nesting  beach  namely  the  nesting abundant at highest the beach slope are 24°-31°, the grain sizes are medium sand (MZ = 2,18) and coarse sand (MZ =1,34). Temporary distribution in the nesting begins in April, extends through May and June, and   decreases  during  July.   The  coral  stones  are  limiting  factor  for     landing  beach   success.   The characteristic   of  nesting   (beach   slope)   indicate  microclimatic  effect  on   nesting  and  impacted  for distribution  was reducing abundant of nesting.  Canopy  vegetation  at highest beach  slope are 30° had microclimatic effect on nesting.   Key words : Distribution, microclimatic, nesting, green turtles, Pulau Jemur

Abstract

This research was to know the increase of result learn and class student activity at SLTP 20 Pekanbaru, in Januari-March  2003.  Samples were  collected  amount  to  42  people, with measured  parameter cover result learn by test and activity student with observation.  Data analysis was conducted by descriptive. The result of research indicate that approach of Think-Pair-Share can improve result learn and student activity at chapter animal diversity. Where average result of learning to range from 67,26 until  81,85 with result of test 74,85. The activity student was indicate goodness with average 69,27%. Abstract

Study on the ability of the students in composing the TPK for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year Junior High School students was conducted by the year of 2003  in the FKIP  UNR1, Pekanbaru.  Aims o f this study are toi understand the ability of the students in writing the TPK teaching materials and the ability of students in designing the TPK teaching methods. Data were obtained by analyzing the TPK paper works created by students. Result o f this study indicated that 63,53% TPK written for the  1st Junior High School student categorized  as  “fair”  and  the  other are “poor” , but the teaching method  of 98,34%  o f them  are well designed. Around 77% o f TPK for the 2nd year students are well written and the 94% o f them are well designed. The TPK for the 2nd year students, in contrast are poor written, but 98,99% are well designed Based on the results ,  it can be concluded  that the Biology  Study program  students are able to design the TPK, but they have low ability in writing this work. Key words : PPL, to design the TPK

Abstract

Water quality based on plankton and benthic organism as bio-indicators  in Senapelan,  Sago and Sail Rivers at  Pekanbaru  city  were  investigated  on  April  -   August  2003.  Survey  method  with  purposive  random sampling  at 7  sampling  point  was  used  in the research.  Various  parameters  such  as saprobe  coefficient indexes,  plankton  and benthic  diversity  and also  bio-indexes  benthic  organism  were observed   Final results had  shown that saprobe indexes plankton between -  0,85   until   +  1,00. While diversity indexes benthic organism  between  0,1 16  -   1,335  and  bio-indexes  benthic  between  1  until  5.  Based  on  the  criterion expressed  that water quality of biology  in Senapelan,  Sago and Sail Rivers at Pekanbaru city were middle until heavily polluted.   Key  words : Biology Quality, Plank tonic, Benthic

Abstract

The effect of Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) and Benzyl Adenine (BA) of concentration of leaf eksplan Citrus sinensis L.  by in vitro was studied at tissue culture laboratory of Balai Benih Induk Pekanbaru, The experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with three replicates.  The treatment consist of A (without NAA and BA), B (0,1 ppm NAA and 0,1 ppm BA), C (1 ppm NAA and 0,1  ppm BA), D (10 ppm NA and 0,1 ppm BA), E (0,1 ppm NAA and 1 ppm BA). F (1 ppm NAA and 1 ppm BA). G (10 ppm NAA and  1 ppm BA), H (0,1  ppm NAA and  10 ppm BA), I (1 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA) and J (10 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA),The results of this experiment showed that respond growth of good leaf eksplan.  NAA and BA at concentration  0,1;  1 and  10 ppm can yield forming o f root and callus can’t forming of buds. Callus initiation and root quickest of concentration  10 ppm NAA and 0,1 ; 1; 10 BA ppm that is  10,00 and  14,66.   Amount    root o f concentration  1 ppm NAA and  10 ppm BA is 29,66 and wet weight of callus high at gave of concentration 10 ppm NA and 10 ppm BA is 0,25 gr.   Key words : Citrus Sinensis L, BA, Eksplan, NAA
