Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the student’s motivation in participating in student organizations at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani. This study uses self-determination theory to explain the motivation of students to involve in student organizations. Self-determination theory explained that human motivations were important sources in the development of personality and self-regulation. The motivation involved the reasons and the purposes in performing an action. Motivation moves from extrinsic motivations to intrinsic motivations. The method of this study was quantitative descriptive research. Participant of this research were college students who participating in students organizations. The result showed that most of the students participated in student organizations had integration extrinsic motivation. Students involved in the student organizations because they interested and it gived them some benefits. Draw the benefits in students organizations become the majority reasons of the students in participating in the student organizations.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of positive emotions and brand equity on impulsive buying on female consumers. The research used the quantitative method with 414 female consumers. The instruments were the Dispositional Positive Emotion Scale, Brand Equity Scale, and The Impulse Buying Tendency Scale. The data analysis techniques which is used in this research is multiple regression. The results show that positive emotions had no effect on impulsive buying. Furthermore this study also show that brand equity has a direct effect on impulsive buying

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine an improvement of child’s resilience through positive cognitive triad with cognitive behavior therapy approach. The participant was BS, an 8-year-old girl who was in second grade in one of private elementary schools in Jakarta. She once had an unpleasant experience with one of the teachers, so she always displayed evasive behaviour, either avoiding for school attendance or doing assignments. The design in this study was a single-subject pre-post design. The intervention program was held within 8 sessions with a follow-up session that was given 2 weeks after. The instruments used for this research are Resilience Scale for Children and Adolescence (RSCA) to measure resilience, Cogntitive Triad Inventory-for Children (CTI-C) to measure positive cognitive triad, and customized BS rating scale (BSRS) to measure the intensity of avoidant behavior also negative emotions shown by BS. The results of this study showed an improvement of resiliency and positive cognitive triad, also decreased intensity of behavior problems at the end of the intervention program.   AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah terdapat peningkatan resiliensi pada seorang anak melalui pembentukkan positive cognitive triad dengan pendekatan cognitive behavior therapy. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berinisial BS, seorang anak perempuan berusia 8 tahun yang merupakan murid kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar di salah satu sekolah swasta di Jakarta. Ia pernah memiliki pengalaman tidak menyenangkan bersama salah satu guru sehingga selalu menampilkan perilaku menghindar, baik itu menghindari kehadiran ke sekolah maupun mengerjakan tugas. Desain penelitian ini adalah single-subject pre-post design. Program intervensi dilaksanakan selama 8 sesi dengan sesi follow-up yang dilakukan 2 minggu setelahnya. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah Resilience Scale for Children and Adolescence (RSCA) untuk mengukur resiliensi, Cognitive Triad Inventory-for Children (CTI-C) untuk mengukur positive cognitive triad, dan skala rating (BSRS) yang secara khusus disusun untuk mengukur intensitas perilaku menghindar serta emosi negatif yang BS miliki. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan resiliensi dan positive cognitive triad, serta penurunan intensitas masalah perilaku setelah intervensi diberikan.

Abstract

This research aimed to obtain baseline data as the first stage of preparation of self-instructional training programs as an intervention for early adolescents who had self-esteem problems. The participant in this study was a teenage boy who has a negative self-evaluation related to self-competence at school. The design in this research was single-subject, with A1-A2-A3 design. Measurement of self-esteem in this study was interview techniques on the participant, significant other, and teachers among three different situations. The instrument was developed based on high self-esteem characteristics of Rosenberg and Owens (Guindon, 2010). The results of this study indicated that the boy had low self-esteem related to self-competence and affected to important areas of development such as academic. Based on this study, further researchs was necessary to develope an intervention that solved the problems of self-esteem in early adolescence.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between forgiveness and happiness in elderly at Wredha Abiyoso Pakem Yogyakarta house. The subject are 30 seniors who live at the house. This research uses two scales, those are forgiveness scale which has 10 items and refers to Nashori (2011) and happiness scale which has 20 items and refers to seligman’s happiness scale (2005). The data analysis which is used in the research is product moment from pearson. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between forgiveness and happiness in the elderly who live in the Werdha Abiyoso Pakem Yogyakarta house. It is proven by correlation coefficient between forgiveness and happiness for 0,533 with p-value of 0,000 (p smaller than 0,01).

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of relaxation techniques in reducing the level of anxiety experienced by male adolescents aged 12 to 14 years. This study used a quasi-experimental method with one group pretest – posttest design model. The Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders (SCARED) - Child Version (Birmaher, et al., 1997) was used to measure overall anxiety level and an anxiety thermometer made by researchers was used to evaluate anxiety level after each session. In total, there were 8 males with relatively high levels of anxiety based on the SCARED (more or equals to 30 points) who participate for 7 sessions. Each session was conducted for 90 minutes. The results indicated that there was a decrease in anxiety levels after the relaxation training program on 7 out of 8 participants. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas teknik relaksasi dalam menurunkan tingkat kecemasan yang dialami oleh remaja laki-laki berusia 12 hingga 14 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimental dengan model one group pretest–posttest design. Pada penelitian ini terdapat 7 sesi pertemuan termasuk follow-up yang setiap sesinya menghabiskan waktu sekitar 90 menit. Tingkat kecemasan subjek diukur dengan Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders (SCARED) – Child Version (Birmaher, dkk., 1997) dan thermometer kecemasan yang dibuat oleh peneliti untuk melihat tingkat kecemasan subjek pada setiap sesi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 8 orang dengan tingkat kecemasan yang tergolong tinggi berdasarkan alat ukur SCARED (lebih dari atau sama dengan 30 poin). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat penurunan tingkat kecemasan setelah dilakukan program pelatihan relaksasi pada 7 dari 8 subjek.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of personal value to sexual prejudice of students in Bandung. This research used quantitative method with 400 participants selected using convenience techniques sampling. The instruments used were Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ-40) (Schwartz, 2003) and Homosexuality Attitude Scale (HAS) (Kite and Deaux, 1986). Multiple regression was used to analyze influence of personal value to sexual prejudice. The results showed that variations of sexual prejudice was influenced by personal value of 15 percent. In addition, it was found that there were differences the level of sexual prejudice between female and male students. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh personal value terhadap prasangka seksual pada mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 400 responden yang dipilih dengan  menggunakan teknikconvenience sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ-40)dan Homosexuality Attitude Scale (HAS). Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik korelasimultiple regression. Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan variasi prasangka seksual dipengaruhi olehpersonal value sebesar 15 persen, sedangkan 85 persennya dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan tingkat prasangka seksual antara mahasiswa perempuan dan laki-laki.

Abstract

Intellectual disability is deficits in intellectual functions, adaptive functions, and these deficits occure during the developmental period (before the age of eighteen). Emotion regulation related to the functions and become the problems for children with mild intellectual disability. Emotion regulation is individual’s ability to refrain himself from improper behavior concerning negative and positive emotions that he feels, to manage himself so that he does not depend on his mood condition, to calm down himself when strong emotion arises, and to focus his attention when strong emotion appears. Emotion regulation is extremely needed for adaptation in maintaining relations with other people. The one of interventions that can be used to handle emotion regulation problem for children with intellectual disability is by giving emotion regulation skills system training. This research uses single subject design. The result of this research shows that emotion regulation skills system training gives positive impacts on cognitive and behavior aspects of the subject. The application of these skills in daily life is related to the roles of people around the subject who can understand how to apply the skills and remind the subject

Abstract

When a company has employees with high keterikatan kerja, the company will have employees who are able to carry out and modify work according to their capabilities. The other hand, job crafting plays an important role in change management and organizational success, this is because employees will be able to overcome problems in the workplace by modifying work according to their capabilities. Job crafting is directly and positively influenced by keterampilan sosials to interact effectively and influence others in the workplace. This study used  linear regression that participated by 53 employees. The results were keterampilan sosials and job crafting had an effect on keterikatan kerja on employees by variance explained of 46.1 percent.

Abstract

Abstract One of activitiy done by students to spend their free time both at home and at school is to play online games. Friend’s factor becomes one of the strengthening factors in online gaming activities. However, playing online games has a risk that leads to addiction which can affect the mental health of the students. This study aimed at determining the role of the quality of friendship to the relationship of online game addiction and mental health of students. The subject of this research was the junior high school students in Yogyakarta. This research was conducted using survey method. Data retrieval was done by using Mental Health Scale, Quality Scale of Friendship and Online Game Addiction Scale. The sample was determined by purposive sampling. The result of moderation analysis revealed that the quality of friendship did not effected to the relationship between online game addiction and the mental health of students. The tendency of online game addiction and offline friendship quality could predict student mental health significantly.  Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kualitas pertemanan terhadap hubungan adiksi game online dan kesehatan mental siswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa sekolah menengah pertama di Kota Yogyakarta yang berusia 12 hingga 15 tahun dan bermain game online. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 183 siswa yang terdiri dari 115 siswa laki-laki dan 68 siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survei. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Skala Kesehatan Mental, Skala Kualitas Pertemanan dan Skala Adiksi Game Online. Sampel penelitian ditentukan secara purposive sampling. Hasil analisis moderasi menunjukkan bahwa kualitas pertemanan tidak terbukti secara signifikan berperan pada hubungan antara adiksi game online dan kesehatan mental siswa. Kecenderungan adiksi game online dan kualitas pertemanan di dunia nyata secara bersama-sama signifikan memprediksi kesehatan mental siswa.
