Abstract

Asthma gymnastics is one type of exercise therapy that conducted in groups (exercise group) that involving activities of body movement or an essential activity to help the process of respiratory rehabilitation in patients with asthma and it is one of the supporting element in the treatment of asthma. Asthma is a lung disease with characteristics: a reversible airway (but incomplete in some patients) spontaneously or treatment; Inflammation of the airways; Increased airway response to various stimuli (hyperreactivity). This study aims to find out whether asthma gymnastic can reduce the frequency of recurrence of asthma, increase oxygen saturation and physical fitness in patients with asthma in Lung polyclinic of Wangaya hospital Denpasar. This study is an experimental study with the pre and post test control group design. Number of samples were 30 people with asthma consist of 15 patients with asthma as treatment group and 15 patients with asthma as control group. The results showed that in the treatment group have improvement on well controlled relapse and decrease of well uncontrolled relapse. Based on the value Mann Whitney test p = 0.008, it means asthma gymnastics can reduce recurrence in patients with bronchial asthma. Effect of asthma gymnastic on oxygen saturation in treatment group by mean values of % SpO2 increased from 95.1 to 96.5. By using the Mann Whitney p = 0.001, it means asthma gymnastics can improve oxygen saturation in patients with bronchial asthma. Conclusion that administration of asthma gymnastics training for three times a week for eight weeks can reduce the frequency of recurrence, improve oxygen saturation and physical fitness in patients with asthma. Asthma gymnastics will be expected to conduct by asthma sufferer regularly in an effort to control the frequency of asthma attacks effectively.

Abstract

One of the deviation on brain growth was cerebral palsy (CP). The problem in cerebral palsy patient was inability to sitting. The aim of this study is to prove that additional of perceptual motor program is better than kinesiotaping in neurodevelopmental treatment in improving ability sitting in cerebral palsy patients. The method of study was pre and post test design. Fourteen cerebral palsy children with quadriplegi type that unable to sit as the sample in this study. The samples divided into two group that was group I (perceptual motor program and neurodevelopmental treatment) and group II (kinesiotaping and neurodevelopmental treatment). The intervention was applied in 60’ per session, twice session per week for 12 weeks. The score of measurement was measured by Level of Sitting Scale (LSS). The result of research showed (1) improvement of the LSS score in the group I as pre test 1.86 ± 0.69 and post test 4.00 ± 0.82, (2) improvement of the LSS score in the group II as pre test 2.00 ± 0.82 and post test 2.86 ± 1.07, (3) there was significance difference of the LSS score between group I and II with p = 0.029 (p < 0,05). It was concluded that the combination of perceptual motor program and neurodevelopmental treatment was better than the combination of kinesiotaping and neurodevelopmental treatment in increase sitting ability in cerebral palsy patients.

Abstract

Subacromial impingement syndrome is pain caused the emphasis of the supraspinatus muscle tendon between the acromion and the humeral tuberosity. Pain in subacromial impingement syndrome cause reduction of shoulder functional activity. Handling the problem of impingement syndrome, many modalities are heating, electrical stimulation, manual therapy and exercise therapy. This study aimed to compare result between the combination of ultrasound therapy and traction shoulder toward caudal (group 1) and combination of ultrasound therapy and Codman pendular exercise (group 2). The duration of treatment was given 3 times a week for 2 weeks long. Sampling of this research was 32 people each group of 16 people. This research was true experimental study using pre test and post test design with measurement SPADI (Shoulder Pain and Disability Index) Result of hypothesis testing using independent t-test is found p > 0.05 showed no significant differences between group 1 and group 2. Conclusions in this research that combining of ultrasound therapy and traction shoulder to caudal are proven equally effective with ultrasound therapy and codman pendular exercise to reduce pain and improve functional shoulder joint activity in patient with impingement subacromial syndrome. There for the further study it is recommended a multicentre study using three combination therapy (Ultrasound, traction and pendular exercise) for reducing pain and improving functional shoulder joint activity with impingement subacromial syndrome

Abstract

Background: Mechanical low back pain is pain that resulting from poor posture which cause decreased disability and limitation of lumbar range of motion. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to prove mulligan bent leg raise more effective to increase lumbosacral range of motion and decreased disability than slump stretching among tile craftsman with Mechanical low back pain in Darmasaba village. Methods: This research was an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. Sample of this study is tile craftsman with mechanical low back pain with 20 samples aged 30-55. Samples were divided into two groups, which the first group (n = 10) was given Mulligan bent leg raise, while the second group was given slump stretching. Do exercise 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Lumbar range of motion was measured with modified-modified schober test while level of disability was measured with modified oswestry disability index. Result: Paired Sample T-test in Group 1 and Group 2 obtained p=0,000 that showed in each Group 1 and Group 2 there is significant difference. Independent Samples Test of Group 1 and Group 2 showed the result p=0,000 which mean that there is significant difference in increased lumbar range of motion and decreased disability. Conclusion: Mulligan bent leg raise more effective to increase lumbosacral range of motion and decreased disability than slump stretching to tile craftsman with mechanical low back pain in Darmasaba village.

Abstract

ABSTRACTWeight training is one of the exercises needed to achieve physical fitness. This exercise can increase muscle mass and metabolic function of the muscles so that it becomes an important exercise in the condition of the metabolic syndrome. Muscle is the largest hormone-sensitive tissue in the human body, this tissue consumes a lot of oxygen and consumes most of the glucose through the mediation of insulin. Weight training results in hypertrophy or increase in muscle mass and hyperplasia or increase in the number of muscle cells. Various biomolecular mechanisms can explain the hypertrophy and hyperplasia processes including the anabolic mTOR pathway, the catabolic pathway myostatin - Smad and the repair pathway by Satellite Cells. Understanding of the biomolecular process can provide a theoretical foundation in developing a weight training program so that the exercise becomes effective and safe.Keyword : weight training, metabolic syndrom, muscle hipertrophy

Abstract

Pendahuluan. Siswa yang mengalami gangguan Hamstring Muscle Tightness akan berisiko mengalami gangguan Anterior Curciatum Ligamen, Low back pain, dan juga plantar fascitis. Pemendekan muscle hamstring adalah suatu kondisi patologi pada otot hamstring yang mengalami pemendekan akibat hypomobility dan posisi aktivitas yang statis sehingga menyebabkan gangguan anatomi dan fungsional tubuh yang memiliki ciri khas yaitu menurunnya fleksibilitas muscle hamstring. Peningkatan fleksibilitas pada pemendekan muscle hamstring dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian penguluruan yaitu berupa Contract Relax Stretching dan Long Sitting Hand Up Exercise. Metode. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental, dengan menggunakan two group pre-test and post-test design. Dilaksanakan di lapangan Ubud Gianyar Bali. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 34 orang terbagi menjadi dua kelompok. Penelitian ini dilakukan 3x seminggu selama 1 bulan antara bulan April – Mei 2016. Fleksibilitas otot hamstring diukur dengan Sit and Reach Test sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Analisis statistik menggunakan Paired sampel t-Test. Hasil. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dengan pelatihan contra relax stretching diperoleh peningkatan fleksibilitas dari 21,52±2,66cm menjadi 32,69±3,25cm dengan nilai p=0,00 (p<0,05). Pada pelatihan long sitting hand up diperoleh peningkatan fleksibilitas dari 20,45±3,50cm menjadi 36,21±5,06cm dengan nilai p=0,00 (p<0,05). Pada uji beda selisih menggunakan t-Independent Test antara kedua kelompok sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan I cotra relax stretching dan didapatkan nilai selisih 11,17±1.34 dan peltihan II long sitting hand up didaptkan nilai selisih 15,75±3,55 dengan nilai p=0,00 (p<0,05) didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna. Simpulan. Berdasarkan analisis statistik dapat ditarik disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan Long Sitting Hand Up lebih baik meningkatkan fleksibilitas hamstring muscle tightness daripada pelatihan Contract Relax Stretching.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Osteoarthritis is some of problem on joint which have a function for supporting body and have chronic and degenerative characteristic so it can affects the cartilaginous structure of joint it can cause some of abnormality of bones, soft tissues, and synovial fluid like pain, decrease on range of motion (ROM), deformity and morning stiffness which is most often felt especially in knee joint. Purpose: This study was to determine affectivity combination intervention of ultrasound and perturbation exercise with ultrasound and mobilization with movement to improve functional ability for people with osteoarthritis genu. Methods: This research used experimental method with pre and post test control group design. Subject of this research are 22 people and divided into two groups where on the group 1 was given intervention of ultrasound and perturbation exercise and group 2 was given intervention of ultrasound and mobilization with movement with intensity 2 times per week for 12 times total intervention. Measurement functional score ability improvement was measured using a WOMAC index. Result: Group 1 result obtained p value = 0.001 (p <0.05) and in Group 2 got result obtained p value = 0.001 (p<0.05) for Paired Sample T-test. Different test of mean value with independent sample t-test after treatment found that the increase of improve functional 21.45±4.132 in group 1 and 11.55±1.368 in group 2 with p value = 0.036 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Intervention of ultrasound and perturbation exercise is significantly more effective compared with ultrasound and mobilization with movement for improve functional ability for people with osteoarthritis genu. Suggestion: For the next researcher can do follow up research to see long-term result intervention of ultrasound, perturbation and mobilization with movement for improve functional ability for people with osteoarthritis genu.Key Word; Osteoarthritis genu, perturbation exercise, mobilization with movement, ultrasound, WOMAC

Abstract

Submaximal activity leads to oxidative stress that causes cellular damage, including platelet. Glutathione as a potential antioxidant has cellular protective effect. The purpose of this research was to analize the effect of glutathione pre submaximal exercise on platelet count and bleeding time. The study used separate post test only control group design with 28 male rats (Rattus norvegicus, Wistar strain) which were divided into four groups : P1(6) without intervention; P2(7), P3(8), and P4(7) with administration of placebo (aquabidest), glutathione 54 mg/kgBB, and glutathione 108 mg/kgBB intraperitoneally for each group that were given 5 times, continued with submaximal exercise (swimming with 4% of weight load). The result of ANOVA and LSD test showed that submaximal exercise had tendency to decrease platelet count (p=0,407; not significant) and prolonged bleeding time (p=0,017). Glutathione pre submaximal exercise had tendency to increase platelet count (p=0,407; not significant) and shortened bleeding time (p=0,017). Glutathione with a dose of 54 mg/kg had protective effect on platelet better than a dose of 108 mg/kg. In conclusion, the administration of glutathione pre submaximal exercise has protective effect on platelet in male rats (Rattus norvegicus).

Abstract

Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome (MTPs) adalah suatu daerah kecil yang hipersensitif yang mempengaruhi fascia otot upper trapezius. Penggunaan otot dalam posisi statis yang lama, kompresi pada otot dan mekanisme kerja yang buruk pada leher dan bahu dapat mengakibatkan spasme, pemendekan otot, serta gangguan sirkulasi darah yang menyebabkan timbulnya trigger point pada otot yang nantinya dapat menimbulkan MTPs. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan metode integrated neuromuscular inhibitation techniques (INIT)_1 lebih efektif menurunkan nyeri pada MTPs otot upper trapezius daripada kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan transverse friction massage. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan rancangan randomized pre test and post test group design. Terdapat dua Kelompok sampel, dengan masing-masing Kelompok terdapat 10 sampel. Kelompok 1 diberikan intervensi terapi ultrasound dan integrated neuromuscular inhibition techniques_1 sedangkan kelompok 2 diberikan intervensi terapi ultrasound dan transverse friction massage. Data berupa skala VAS diambil sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Perlakuan diberikan selama 6 kali terapi di Klinik Merdeka Medical Centre (MMC) Denpasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi penurunan rerata nyeri pada Kelompok 1 dari rerata 5,39±0,70 menjadi rerata 1,64±0,51 dan Kelompok 2 dari rerata 5,83±0,81 menjadi rerata 1,39±0,50 setelah perlakuan. Beda rerata penurunan nyeri dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi setiap Kelompok menggunakan paired sample t-test didapatkan nilai p=0,000 (p<0,05). Hasil perbedaan rerata nyeri setelah intervensi kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan integrated neuromuscular inhibitation techniques_1 dan kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan transverse friction massage menggunakan independent sample t-test didapatkan hasil p=0,287 (p>0,05) yang berarti tidak ada perbedaan bermakna intervensi antar Kelompok. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan antara kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan integrated neuromuscular inhibition techniques (INIT)_1 dengan kombinasi terapi ultrasound dan transverse friction massage untuk menurunkan nyeri pada myofascial trigger point syndrome otot upper trapezius. Diperlukan alat ukur nyeri yang lebih objektif.Kata Kunci : nyeri myofascial trigger point syndrome, otot upper trapezius, terapi ultrasound, integrated neuromuscular inhibition techniques, transverse friction massage.

Abstract

A research to increase the speed of the left-right straight punch with the two types of training ie training hit 25 times faster and 25 times slower eight reps (training-A) and the training to hit 50 times faster and 50 times slower four reps (training-B) was conducted a six-week training in Denpasar Hall of SMK-5 starting at 16:00 until 17:30 pm. Samples of each group of nine people picked at random simple from the students SMKN Denpasar. Each group is given different treatment groups are given training-1-A and group-2-B are given training. Data speed of punches taken before and after training. Data were tested by paired t-test to determine the difference between the mean velocity blows before and after training in each group and unpaired t-test to determine the average velocity difference between the two groups of stroke. Limit of significance used was 0.05 (p <0.05). Different rates of speed blows before and after training in group-1 is 60.22 X / mt, which showed a significant difference p = 0.000 and in group-2 is p = 47.22 X / mt, which also showed a significant difference in the p = 0.000. Punch speed after training between groups showed a significant difference, namely p = 0.000. So that the training-A and-B training can increase the speed of a punch. Training-A better than training-B in increasing the speed of the left-right straight punch. For it is expected that the trainers who train speed left-right straight punch to apply the training to hit 25 times faster and 25 times slower three sets of eight reps in training.
