Abstract

Each regions has a local culture that is the identity of the area. The Malind (Anim Ha) tribe as the original tribe of Merauke has a musical instrument that has a copyright kandara. Kandara was used as a musical accompaniment of dances and songs at traditional ceremonies. Kandara can be used as a learning media for the concept of geometry in elementary schools. This article aimed to describe the instrument of the musical instrument as an ethnomatematics of the Malind-Papua tribe that can be used as a learning medium for geometrical concepts in elementary schools. It was qualitative research using the ethnographic approach. Sampling using a cluster random sampling technique. The results showed that, the first ethnomatematics were found in parts of the kandara such as the handle or hands of the kandara, head, bodyor middle part and the tail of the kandara. Secondly, the musical instrument of kandara can be used as a learning medium to explain the concepts of geometry in elementary school in the form of the concept of angles, flat shapes (triangles, rectangles and circles) and building spaces (incised cones and tubes). Thirdly, ethnomatematics can be a learning material in elementary schools based on local culture, not only can help students understand mathematical concepts well but also maintain and respect the cultures of local communities (Malind tribe as an indigenous of Merauke). Abstract

One of the reasons why mathematics is still a scourge for elementary school students in the delivery of mathematics material that seems formal and the lack of involvement of interesting and contextual learning media. It needs the right approach and media to present formal mathematics material so that students are able to understand the material and its benefits in real-life contexts. One of them is to use local culture and wisdom as a concrete medium. The purpose of this PKM program is to improve the knowledge and skills of SD YPPK St. Elementary School teachers. Tarsisius Biankuk through training in the use of ethnomathematical-based concrete media in learning mathematics. The implementation method is through training with the stages of preliminary study, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the service show that the teacher can explain some of the culture and local wisdom that can be developed as learning media such as miniature bevak, areca nut, fishing gear for hunting and catching fish, musical instruments tifa, and darts. In addition, the teacher is also able to demonstrate ethnomathematical-based concrete media well. The PKM lecturer team continues to monitor and assist partner schools until the implementation of mathematics learning by applying ethnomathematical-based concrete media in real classes.

Abstract

Semangga Jaya Village, Merauke Regency as one of the villages that has high rice productivity. In 2019 rice production was 55,184.34 tons with a harvested area of 9,614 hectares. This figure is a potential benefit for the community. However, the high production of rice is not followed by the interest of farmers in utilizing rice straw waste to be processed into products that have high economic value, namely into complete feed that can be used as cattle feed. Cattle farming business is currently starting to be developed by farmers, although in practice it has not been fully maximized. This is due to the lack of public understanding of cattle development and the feeding system used is still simple or uses rice straw which basically has a high crude fiber content. The implementation of this activity will provide full participation in solving problems faced by cattle farmer groups, especially the feed processing system by utilizing rice straw waste into complete feed. Semangga Jaya Village, Merauke Regency in the future can be used as a center for cattle feed production. The implementation of activities includes counseling and technical guidance as a medium for transferring knowledge and technology to partners, which will be carried out en masse, through groups and individuals while still implementing Covid-19 health protocols. The solutions offered in the implementation of the program are through non-physical and physical activities. It is hoped that (a) Increased knowledge and skills of farmers regarding the system for processing rice straw waste into complete feed, (b) Increased knowledge and skills in feeding cattle by looking at feed quality standards, (c) Increased knowledge and ability of farmers and breeders to produce feed into attractive packaging for sale through offline and online systems.
