Abstract

This research is meant to identify the critical thinking of X grade students of Science-class in SMAK Santo Albertus, Malang. Data of this research is collected from students test result related to critical thinking test as well as the result of interview done by the researcher with the teacher and students. Data analysis will be done after the treatment and all data are collected. Data analysis technique used in this research is flow model which includes data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and verification. Identification result of students’ critical thinking of X grade in Science-6 class of SMAK Santo Albertus Malang shows that there are three levels in critical thinking, namely ; students with Thinking level of “Critical”, students with thinking level of “less critical”, and students with thinking level of “Not critical”. The result of this research provides information for teachers related to students’ critical thinking, therefore, this research can give some reflection for the teacher in designing the next Mathematics teaching activities and help teacher in designing standard teaching development which improves students’ critical thinking.  Matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang sangat memerlukan berpikir kritis dalam proses belajar siswa. Siswa perlu berpikir kritis untuk memikirkan dan memahami masalah dari berbagai sudut pandang. Sehigga berpikir kritis bukan sekedar proses menghafal, melainkan suatu proses yang dapat mengubah pola berpikir seseorang secara kritis dalam menghadapi suatu masalah. Mengingat pentingnya berpikir kritis, maka dalam penelitian akan di identifikasi berpikir kritis  siswa  kelas  X  IPA-6  SMAK  Santo  Albertus  Malang.  Data  dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil pekerjaan siswa terkait tes berpikir kritis serta hasil wawancara peneliti dengan guru dan siswa. Analisis data akan dilakukan setelah pemberian tindakan dan semua data terkumpul. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah model alir (flow model) yang meliputi kegiatan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil identifikasi berpikir kritis siswa kelas X IPA-6 SMAK Santo Albertus Malang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga tingkatan dalam berpikir kritis, yaitu siswa dengan tingkatan berpikir “kritis”, siswa dengan tingkatan berpikir “kurang kritis”, dan siswa dengan tingkatan berpikir “tidak kritis”. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan informasi kepada guru mengenai berpikir kritis siswa, sehingga penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan refleksi bagi guru dalam merancang kegiatan pembelajaran matematika selanjutnya  dan membantu guru dalam menetapkan tolak ukur pengembangan pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

The main objective of this research will implement the onto-semiotics approach to analyse the conceptual of mathematical meaning in a modelling context corresponding to their use of the mathematical objects. Semiotics functions and mathematical object that emerged when solving mathematical modelling will be highlighted according to OSA. Students responses to modelling questions were used to classify the semiotics function that relates to the different mathematical objects.

Abstract

In this paper we report students? reversible reasoning types on function composition problem. Reversible reasoning can be observed according to operation and structural correlation among input, process, and result.  There are seven students participate in doing function composition related to structural correlation in (f?g)(x)=h(x), The researchers assume that there are four types of reversible reasoning in composition problem, namely: (1) reversible on composition; (2) reversible on function; (3) reversible on substitution; (4) reversible on variables. However, there are only two appearing reversible reasoning, they are: reversible on function and reversible on substitution. Each type were selected a subject to be interviewed for 25 minutes and asked to do the Function Composition Task (FCT). Subject with reversible on function type identifies structural correlation among input, source and result as well as involving inverse in input with permissibility (f(y)) to produce basic function (f(x)). Meanwhile, subject with reversible on substitution type, constructs result based on the input, identifies structural similarity and generalizes from the structural similarity to produce basic function.

Abstract

Linear pattern is the primary material in learning number patterns in junior high schools, but there are still many students who fail to generalize the linear pattern. The students’ failure in generalizing the pattern occurred when the students ended to view the problems globally without breaking them into the constructors’ components such as the experience of field-dependent type students. For this reason, this study was carried out to explore the thinking process of students who fail and investigate the thinking processes of students who succeed in generalizing linear patterns. The results of this study provide an effective learning strategy solution for field-dependent students in generalizing linear patterns. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to junior high school students. The results indicated that students in the field-dependent cognitive style looked at pattern questions represented in the form of geometric images globally without looking at the structure of the image. Two strategies for generalizing linear patterns used by field-dependent students were examined, namely recursive and different strategies.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to describe the thinking process of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems. The thought process that will be disclosed in this study includes receiving, processing, storing, and calling information. In this research, it refers to problem solving according to Polya. This type of research is descriptive research and uses a qualitative approach. The subjects chosen consisted of one person from class VIII. The conclusion of this study is that the subject understands the problem by receiving information from repeatedly reading the problem so that it correctly mentions the thing that is known and asked. The subject makes a completion plan by linking the selected formulas. In completing the subject using the plan he has made by linking the known, asked, and the formula he has chosen. The subject also rechecked the problem solving stageAbstrak: Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah mendeskripsikan proses berpikir siswa SMP dalam memecahkan masalah matematika. Proses berpikir yang akan diungkapkan penelitian ini mencakup penerimaan, pengolahan, penyimpanan, dan pemanggilan suatu informasi. Dalam penelitian ini merujuk kepada pemecahan masalah menurut Polya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek yang dipilih berjumlah satu orang dari kelas VIII. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah subjek memahami masalah dengan menerima informasi dari membaca berulang kali soal sehingga dengan benar menyebutkan hal yang diketahui dan ditanyakan. Subjek membuat rencana penyelesaian dengan mengaitkan rumus-rumus yang dipilih. Dalam melakukan penyelesaian subjek menggunakan rencana yang telah ia buat dengan mengaitkan yang diketahui, ditanyakan, dan rumus yang telah ia pilih. Subjek juga melakukan pengecekan ulang pada tahap penyelesaian masalah.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to describe the ability of looking back  students of SMP Negeri 2 Tegalsiwalan Probolinggo regency in solving rectangular shape problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Subjects of this research is three students who had knowledge of geometry level 2 (Informal Deduction) based on Van Hiele's theory. The results showed that subjects at level 2 (Informal Deduction) knowledge of Van Hiele's geometry were able to carry out looking back steps in solving mathematical problems. In addition, the subject is also able to provide more than one way of solving problems and can train students' ability to solve problems.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendiskripsikan kemampuan memeriksa kembali (looking back) siswa SMP Negeri 2 Tegalsiwalan Kabupaten Probolinggo dalam menyelesaikan masalah bangun datar segiempat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan geometri tingkat 2 (Deduksi Informal) berdasarkan teori Van Hiele. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek mampu melaksanakan langkah looking back dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Selain itu, subjek juga mampu memberikan lebih dari satu cara dalam menyelesaikan masalah dan dapat melatih kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah.

Abstract

Background. Student reasoning in learning mathematics contributes significantly to the achievement of student mathematics learning outcomes. The main objective of this study is to investigate the process of reversible reasoning in students for inverse problems, in the case of Adjie (Ad). The research method used to reveal the reversible reasoning in Adjie's case using descriptive qualitative research methods. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling technique where the research sample was selected based on reversible reasoning criteria. Retrieval research data uses the results of students' mathematical work, think aloud, interviews, and the components that cause reversible reasoning. The results of our study found that the process begins with an obstacle that causes Ad to be unable to continue the resolution process, resulting in a metacognition process by analyzing the problem again analytically and developing other heuristic strategies. Ad shows a change in perspective where he initially interpreted inverse as the act of swapping independent and dependent variables and switched to interpreting inverse as the opposite of a function process involving analogy and image representation. The contribution of this research provides knowledge that reversible reasoning can occur in understanding and solving mathematical problems in inverse material.

Abstract

Abstrak Mulai tahun 2021 Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan akan mulai menerapkan asesmen nasional. Asesmen nasional mengukur dua macam literasi yaitu literasi membaca dan literasi matematika ( atau Numerasi ). Salah satu instrumen utama yang digunakan dalam asesmen nasional adalah Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum (AKM) yang mengukur literasi membaca dan literasi matematika ( numerasi ) siswa. AKM numerasi merupakan hal yang baru bagi para guru matematika SMP. Oleh karena itu tim pengabdian masyarakat jurusan matematika UM merencanakan mengadakan workshop penyusunan AKM numerasi bagi guru matematika SMP di kota Probolinggo. Diharapkan melalui workshop ini, para guru dapat disiapkan untuk membuat soal-soal AKM numerasi. Dilaksanakan 2 kali workshop. Pada workshop pertama, tim pengabdian memberikan beberapa materi seperti penjelasan tentang AKM numerasi, pembuatan soal AKM numerasi tentang geometri dan aljabar, dan bagaimana mengemas soal AKM numerasi dalam bentuk e-LKPD. Sebelum acara diakhiri, para guru diminta untuk mencoba membuat soal AKM numerasi dan e-LKPD. Mereka diberi waktu 2 minggu untuk mengerjakan tugas tersebut dan mempresentasikan hasilnya pada workshop kedua. Hasil yang diperoleh dari workshop adalah para guru memperoleh manfaat tentang materi AKM dan bagaimana menyusun soal AKM numerasi. Kata Kunci: workshop; soal AKM

Abstract

Abstract : Mathematics is a branch of science that play a pivotal role in human life . In the process of learning mathematics, many aspects must be considered so that the goal of learning can be achieved.  Learning paradigm that just makes students memorize many do not understand mathematical concepts. While understanding the concept is a very important factor in the learning of mathematics and basic things that should be owned by the students. Students who have a good understanding of the concepts that will have an impact on its ability to resolve problems and tasks given in the study of mathematics, this is indicated by the learning outcomes in the form of test scores. The success of achieving standards that have been defined. To achieve this, there are various strategies that can be used, one strategy is through cooperative learning of Jigsaw. Jigsaw type of cooperative learning characterized by spesialias assignment (team of experts). The study describes the students' understanding on the concept of inverse function through cooperative learning jigsaw. This research is a classroom action research using a qualitative approach, the instrument used (1) a test sheet, (2) observation sheets teacher activity and student activities, and (3) sheet autorefleksi. Based on the research, test data that 90, 63% of students to retrieve a value of more than or equal to 75 in accordance with the chief engineer, the data of teacher activity observation 98% category very well and observation data of student activity 90% very good category, as well as data auto reflection students feel happy with the model of learning is done. So meet the success criteria of the study.

Abstract

Fakta di dalam kegiatan pembelajaran matematika  di sekolah kurang memfasilitasi siswa mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis mereka. Hasil observasi pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa masih rendah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan menerapkan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berseting think-talk-write untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen pada materi peluang. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 siswa kelas XI Bahasa tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil tes akhir tindakan, observasi tindakan guru dan siswa. Hasil analisis data siklus I menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran berada dalam kriteria sangat baik, 85% siswa memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis minimal dalam kriteria baik dan skor rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa meningkat. Walaupun demikian, aktivitas siswa masih dalam kriteria cukup. Oleh karena itu, perlu diadakan siklus II. Hasil analisis data siklus II menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran berada dalam kriteria sangat baik, aktivitas siswa dalam kriteria baik, 90% siswa memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis minimal dalam kriteria baik dan skor rerata  kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berseting think-talk-write dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen pada materi peluang.
