Abstract

This research aims to enhance critical thinking abilities through the use of problem-based learning in the Social Science Basic Concepts course. The research method used is Classroom Action Research, which is based on the Kemmis and Taggart model. This research was conducted in two cycle, with the researcher serving as a lecturer and observer during each cycle. The subject of the research was elementary school teacher education. The data collected are presented in table format and analyzed quantitatively in a descriptive manner. The findings indicated that implementing the Problem Based Learning model can help students improve their critical thinking abilities. The results of critical thinking observations in cycle 1 were 39% (poor), and the results of critical thinking skills tests improved from 26% (poor) to 54% (fair). Cycle II was conducted using the same model, and the observation results for critical thinking skills increased from 39% (poor) to 78% (good).  The increasing of students pass critical thinking skills tests from 54% (fair) to 91% (good). It can be concluded that using the Problem Based Learning model can help elementary school teacher education students improve their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This classroom action research is motivated by the condition of the pre-research that shows students are lacking self-confidence and lack of enthusiasm in participating in educational learning with a teacher center approach. This study aims to introduce Problem-based learning with the Tri-Nga (Ngerti-Ngrasa-Nglakoni) approach to increase student passion to be ready to become vocational teachers. The study uses the Kemmis Taggart model with 2 cycles consisting of planning, implementation, and reflection. Study material for the first cycle of direct instruction and the second cycle of indirect instruction. The research subjects were 29 students of PKK study program in semester 3 of 2019-2020 academic class A in the FKIP UST. Data collection techniques through observation and interviews were analyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase in student passion shown by the aspects of understanding, feeling, and nglakoni which increased significantly. Students can understand the knowledge, attitudes, and skills that must be possessed by vocational teachers by analyzing learning problems in vocational schools, best practice, and reviewing instructional videos, students can appreciate the teaching profession through the study of various learning methods, and students practice learning through teaching simulations.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of character education social attitude and responsibility through thematic learning. The supporting and inhibiting factors, the solution in overcoming  the obstacles. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive. This research subjects are headmaster, teacher, and four third grade students. The data collection technique are obtained through observation, interview, and documentation. The technique of qualitative data analysis uses interactive model. The result of research showed that third grade of  SD N Jaranan Bantul Yogyakarta has implemented social attitude and responsibility. The implementation social attitude could be seen from students have maintained harmony, have worked honestly on individual assignment, have obeyed the rules, have completed the assignment well, always respect to teacher and want to help their friends, are brave to express their opinions. While, the implementation of students responsibility could be seen on the students have carried out class pickets, active role in the school activity, and proposed a problem solution. The supporting is namely teacher role model, adequate school infrastructure, and government has promoted character education. The inhibiting factors are character, background, and different ability of students, students lack of  understanding the implementation of social attitude and responsibility and parents less concern with students. The solution are to provide the guidance, advice, and give reprimand to students, students ask for character values that they have not understand, and teachers communicate with student’s parents.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the formation of characters through the strengthening of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's cultural capital based teachings. The research setting was Taman Muda Ibu Pawiyatan elementary school in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia and it is one of the schools established by Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the Indonesian educational leader and hero. This qualitative research was designed as a case study using the purposive sampling with individual resources such as headmaster, teacher, student representatives, school committee, parents, foundation management and school supervisor. The data analysis deals with an interactive model of Miles and Huberman.. To test the data validity, researchers used the  triangulation technique and reference materials. The research results show that the implementation of cultural capital in terms of character education at SD Taman Muda Ibu Pawiyatan deals with methods of habituation, examples and exemplaries integrated with learning, extracurricular and daily activities at home and in society

Abstract

 Abstract: The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has an important contribution in education, especially in learning process. Shortages and bottlenecks in the learning process can be overcome with the use of ICT. Social studies as one of Sciences relating to the development of human life both in terms of economic, social relations, culture, history, law and its interaction with the natural environment is closely associated with the level of human civilization, including today's technology. All aspects of human life is the object of study in Social studies. Therefore to be able to clarify the learning materials so broad and constantly experiencing these developments, then information and communication technology (ICT) which is now thriving very supportive.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the interpersonal intelligence of the students conducting bullies and the factors influencing the bullies. The research is qualitative research applying a case study. The research is done at Tonorogo Elementary School. The subjects of the research are bullying-doers, the victims and teachers while the object is the interpersonal intelligence of the students conducting bullies. The technics of data collecting are observations, interviews and documentations. The instruments of the research are the researcher, observation and interview guides. The validity test of the data applies triangulation technic, resources and time. Data analysis technic uses interactive model that is data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The result of the research descriptively shows that the interpersonal intelligence of the students conducting bullies at school can be categories worse based on dimension of the interpersonal intelligence that covers social sensitivity, social insight and social communication. The doers have been proven to do both physical and verbal attacks to others so that they fail to have positive relationship in their social environments. Interest and study achievements of the bullying-doers are the cause and effect of the bad interpersonal intelligence of the bullying-doers. The school has yet been able to provide counseling service on it so that there is not any attempt to prevent and solve the problem. Apart from it, the inappropriate family background of the bullying-doers worsens interpersonal intelligence of the students.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to produce learning media “human board interaction” on the thematic learning of fifth grade of SDN Madusari 3 Prambanan, Sleman. Based on the description of the theory and the mindset, the hypothesis in this study is human interaction board media proper to use as a media in the thematic learning which is charged with social science, and be able to create pleasant learning atmosphere otherwise be able to increase the active participation of the learners. The research used to research and development using a development research model by Borg and Gall. The development of the procedure consists of 9 stages are research and data collection, planning, development of initial produce, an initial field trial, product revision, an operation field trial, and final product revision. The population of the research is all of the students of fifth grade SDN Madusari 3 Prambanan Sleman which amount 22 students. The research sample covers the entire population. The researcher used data collection techniques by a questionnaire, observation, and interview with the teacher and the students to find out the situation during the learning process. The data analysis technique used quantitative descriptive statistics. The result shows that the media is proper to use. This is based on the percentage obtained from the learner validator. The percentage of material validator results from lecturer is 80%, worthy of use, the percentage of validation result from the teacher is 83,33%, worthy of use. The percentage of validation results from the lecturer is 77,33%, worthy of use. The percentage of validation results from the teacher is 82,66, worthy of use. The percentage of student evaluations obtained during limited testing is 93% worthy of use. During the field trial 94%, worthy of use. In the operational field, trials produce a percentage value of 94% worth of use.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a “human interaction board” teaching media for thematic teaching in the fifth grade of State Elementary School 3 Madusari, Prambanan, Sleman. This is a research and development study which uses Borg and Gall’s development procedures. A development which uses these procedures involves 9 stages, namely research and data collection, planning, initial product development, initial field try out, product revision, operational field try out, and final product revision. The population of this research are all fifth grade students of State Elementary School 3 Madusari, Prambanan, Sleman, there were 22 students. The research samples include all the population. The data collection was conducted by means of questionnaires, observations, and interviews with the class teacher and five students to determine the situation during the teaching process. The data analysis used a descriptive quantitative technique. The research results show that the human interaction board teaching media developed based on Borg and Gall’s development procedures was feasible to be used. This is based on the score percentage achieved from the validator and the students. Material validation results percentage from the lecturer showed a score of 80% with a criterion of feasible to be used. Material validation result percentage from the class teacher showed a score of 83.33% with a criterion of feasible to be used. Media validation results percentage from the lecturer showed a score of 77.33% with a criterion of feasible to be used. Media validation result percentage from the class teacher showed a score of 82.66% with a criterion of feasible to be used. Students scoring percentage achieved during a limited test showed 93% with a criterion of feasible to be used. During a field try out showed 94% with a criterion of feasible to be used. Operational field try out showed 94% with a criterion of feasible to be used.

Abstract

Schoology e-learning is a learning process by utilizing technology because online e-learning media uses computer networks to provide information and communication that if the lecturers use e-learning, there can be changes in learning activities between students and lecturers. This study aims to develop and describe the attractiveness, convenience and usefulness and effectiveness of e-learning which is used as an enrichment in terms of student activity and learning outcomes. It is a research & development research referring to development models that are Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluation (ADDIE). Schoology-based e-learning has similar features to Facebook and Schoology also combines social networking and LMS (Learning Management System). The development of schoology-based e-learning can easily obtain information on the learning materials provided by the lecturer even though the lecturer is unable to attend class because through schoology the lecturer can check student attendance, and between lecturers and students can interact socially and also learn together.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan yang cepat dari Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) dalam pendidikan memungkinkan siswa untuk mengakses bahan belajar yang lengkap dari berbagai sumber. Para siswa didorong untuk belajar mandiri dan mereka menjadi subyek belajar (student centered) dan guru dituntut inovatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Pembelajaran IPS berbasis ICT menggunakan Lectora Inspire dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dari pada buku-buku teks. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental kuasi dilakukan di SD Negeri Gedongtengen Yogyakarta pada semester 2 tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Kelompok Kontrol acak desain pretest-posttest. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Gedongtengen Yogyakarta. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik ketersediaan sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes dan kuesioner. Perbedaan hasil belajar IPS serta minat siswa belajar IPS antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol dianalisis dengan menggunakan t-test independen untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran IPS berbasis ICT dengan aplikasi Lectora Inspire. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan ICT aplikasi Lectora Inspire lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan buku teks (t = 9,226 dan p= 0,004 α= 0,05, (2) minat belajar siswa menggunakan ICT dengan aplikasi Lectora Inspire lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan buku teks (t= 7,098 dan p= 0,001 α= 0,05 ).
