Abstract

That was study aims to determine the effect of temulawak juice in drinking water on slaughter weight and carcass weight. The treatment in this study used quail and ginger extract. The data obtained were then tabulated using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's multiple distance test. The results of this study indicate that the application of temulawak juice in drinking water did haven’t a significant effect on the percentage of quail carcass, liver and gizzard, but had a significant effect on the percentage of heart.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effect of natural feed mulberry and glicidia against carcass percentage and non-carcass male goats Ettawa crossbreed. This study was conducted for 4 months starting in January to April 2016, located in the Village RanomentaaToari District of Kolaka. This study used 12 male goats Crossbreed Ettawa age ranges of 4-6 months that were placed in 12 individual cages. The materials used are natural feed (Gliricidia leaves and mulberry leaves), water, salt, and medicine. The equipment used is the individual cages, where food, drinking, machetes, scales, basins, cutter, knife, plastic bags, rope and a cutting table. The design used in this study is completely randomized design (CRD) 3 treatments with 4 replications. Treatment 1 (T1) (100% mulberry leaf), T2 (50% of mulberry leaves, 50% Gliricidia leaves) and T3 (100% Gliricidia leaves). The parameters were observed in the study were: weight gain (WG), slaughter weight, carcass weight and percentage, and the percentage of non-carcass weight. The results showed that the average W. Gited Nations T3 (26.98 g/day) was significantly different (P0.05) with T2 (22.83 g/day) and T1 (22.42 g/day), but T2 and T1 are not significantly different. In line with the average slaughter weight is from highest to lowest T3 (13.29 kg), T2 (11.21 Kg) and T1 (10.37 Kg). Followed by the average carcass weight were significant (P0.05) as a result of treatment. The average carcass weight T1 (4.17 Kg), T2 (4.24 Kg) and T3 ((5.38 kg). Whereas in the average carcass percentage effect is not significant (P0.05) as a result of treatment with a range of 38.43 -39.43%. Similarly, the weight of non Kakas and non carcass percentage of the average range of 50.73 to 55.09%. Based on the results research, it can be concluded that the natural feeding mulberry and gliricidia real effect on body weight gain, slaughter weight and carcass weight but had no effect on carcass percentage, non carcass weight and carcass percentage

Abstract

Handling of chicken carcass after slaughter needs to be prioritized to guarantee safety and quality. One method that can be applied is marination using abundantly available spices. Sihala fruit (Etlingera etalior) is a spice that is usually used as a flavoring for arsik dishes typical of Batak, which has a slightly sour taste and fresh aroma. This study aimed to develop marination using Sihala tamarind spices to improve the physical and microbiological quality of meat of rejected layers during storage. The meat of rejected laying hens was marinated for 30 minutes using siala acid with concentrations of 0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%. Storage is carried out for 24 hours to 48 hours then, followed by physical and microbiological quality measurements. The results showed that the marination using siala acid significantly (P<0.01) improved physical quality, reducing the percentage of cooking loss, lowering the pH value, increasing tenderness, and maintaining meat moisture. Samples that were marinated using siala acid significantly (P<0.01) also experienced a decrease in microbial growth compared to the control. Overall, the best physical and microbiological qualities were the samples of culled chicken marinated using Sihala tamarind juice at a concentration of 30% and 45% during a 24-hour storage period. Marinating using siala acid fruit juice is an effective strategy to improve rejected chicken meat's physical and microbiological quality. The tamarind siala has the potential as a natural preservative in meat during storage for 48 hours.

Abstract

This activity is a community service activity carried out to help increase the productivity of goat selling breeders around the coast of Kendari City, especially in the Anduonohu Market area. Implementation of activities carried out in the form of counseling in the form of visits, delivery of material and discussions directly to goat farmer. The material presented was in the form of planting forage as the main source of feed for goats and using reinforcing feed, the need for strong and tidy goat pens, namely a stage model so that they can maintain environmental cleanliness and livestock health, Management of goat manure waste into bokashi fertilizer. The results of the activity show that they understand and are capable of cultivating forage as the main source of feed and know the importance of using forage boosters (concentrates). 2) Farmers know the benefits of using stilt pens to maintain a clean environment and goat health but have not implemented them due to limited funds to build cages. 3) Farmers do not know about the use of EM4 in leftover feed and livestock manure to produce bokashi organic fertilizer in a short time.
