Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the influence of the democracy index, aspects of civil liberties, aspects of political rights, and aspects of democratic institutions, crime rates, access to information from the internet, on inequality in income distribution. The research method used in this study is descriptive quantitative using panel data multiple regression analysis. This study uses panel data with objects from 34 provinces in Indonesia with a research period from 2014 to 2020. Based on the results of panel data regression with a random effects model, it shows that aspects of democracy both in general through the democracy index variable and specifically through the variable aspects of civil liberties, aspects of political rights and aspects of democratic institutions both have a positive and significant effect on income distribution inequality, as well as the variable number of criminal acts has a significant positive effect on income distribution inequality. Meanwhile, access to information has a significant negative effect on income distribution inequality.quality.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of community service (tridharma) related to the institutional strengthening strategy in the development of Danau Tangkas tourism in Tanjung Lanjut Village. Data collection methods include literature review, interviews, observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Based on the analysis of internal and external factors (SWOT) in the model of tourism attraction development to support Danau Tangkas tourism, the focus is on integrated regulatory and supervisory systems, infrastructure improvement, institutional strengthening, human resource development, and tourism marketing and promotion. Institutional strengthening through the establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) involving the community aims to improve tourism facilities and add new ones, thus enhancing the appeal to tourists and positively impacting the local economy. Additionally, increasing the awareness of the local community about the potential of Danau Tangkas Tourism Village is expected to optimize the tourism potential further.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: 1) the socio-economic characteristics of households of informal sector workers in Jambi City; 2) the coping strategies of these households in facing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; 3) the influence of household socio-economic characteristics on the economic coping strategies of informal sector workers in Jambi City. The primary data used in this study were sourced from a survey of households of informal sector workers in Jambi City. The analysis utilized descriptive statistical tools and structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings of the study reveal that: 1) informal sector workers are generally of productive age, with relatively good education, and predominantly engaged in trading and daily wage labor; 2) the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the social conditions of these households, particularly in terms of income, savings, and non-food expenditures; 3) in the context of economic coping strategies, the strategy of generating additional income is more commonly employed by these households compared to cutting back expenses; 4) the characteristics of the wife and the family significantly influence the coping strategies adopted by households of informal sector workers. In contrast, the characteristics of the household head do not have a significant impact.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Analyze the socioeconomic characteristics and economic coping strategies of fishing households in Tanjung Jabung Timur and Tanjung Jabung Barat; 2) Assess the level of food security among fishing households in these districts; 3) Examine the influence of socioeconomic characteristics and economic coping strategies on the food security of fishing households in Tanjung Jabung Timur and Tanjung Jabung Barat. Data were collected through surveys in four sample villages across the two districts. Descriptive statistics, difference tests, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were employed as analytical tools. The findings indicate that economic coping strategies among fishing families, in terms of active income-generating strategies, are categorized as low. In contrast, passive strategies related to cutting back expenses are considered moderate. Overall, the level of food security among fishing households is relatively good. Furthermore, the food security level of fishing households is significantly influenced by family characteristics and coping strategies. Coping strategies directly impact and act as intervening variables between family characteristics and food security.
