Abstract

AbstractPISA test results show that scientific literacy for many countries around the world is categorized as low. SETS is one approach that can improve scientific literacy. However, research for the combination of these two topics is still challenging to find. This article aims to systematically show the scope of scientific literacy research and SETS from 2016-2020. This study uses the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method that adopts the PRISMA systematic. The study population consisted of all articles on JRST, IJSE, SE, and JPCS and other journals from the ERIC, DOAJ, and Science Direct directories. The sample of this research is 44 articles obtained in these journals. The results of the article analysis show that JPCS, IJERE, and IJSE publish the articles with the highest quantity, where the topic of scientific literacy is the topic with the highest quantity and the combined topic of scientific literacy SETS is the topic with the least quantity. The sub-topic of scientific literacy and SETS articles most studied was the development of learning books related to scientific literacy and SETS. Most of the types of research used are empirical research types. Further research is suggested to look at the effect of SETS on scientific literacy or develop a SETS-based learning media and student learning environment in improving scientific literacy.AbstrakHasil tes PISA menunjukan literasi sains untuk banyak negera di seluruh dunia dikategorikan rendah. SETS menjadi salah satu pendekatan yang dapat meningkatkan literasi sains. Namun, penelitian untuk gabungan kedua topik ini masih sulit ditemukan. Artikel  ini bertujuan untuk menunjukan sistematik cakupan penelitian literasi sains dan SETS dari tahun 2016-2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode SLR (Systematic Literature Review) yang mengadopsi sistematik PRISMA. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas seluruh artikel pada JRST, IJSE, SE, dan JPCS, serta pada  jurnal lainnya dari direktori ERIC, DOAJ, dan Science Direct. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 44 artikel yang diperoleh pada jurnal-jurnal tersebut. Hasil analisis artikel menunjukan JPCS, IJERE dan IJSE menerbitkan artikel dengan kuantitas terbanyak, di mana topik literasi sains menjadi topik yang kuantitas paling banyak dan topik gabungan literasi sains dan SETS menjadi topik yang kuantitas paling sedikit. Sub-topik artikel literasi sains dan SETS yang paling banyak diteliti adalah pengembangan buku pembelajaran terkait literasi sains dan SETS. Sebagian besar tipe penelitian yang digunakan ialah tipe penelitian empiris. Penelitian lebih lanjut disarankan yaitu melihat pengaruh SETS terhadap literasi sains atau mengembangkan sebuah media pembelajaran berbasis SETS dan lingkungan belajar siswa dalam meningkatkan literasi sains.

Abstract

Pembelajaran daring di masa pandemi Covid-19 yang tidak maksimal memberikan dampak terhadap kemampuan literasi sains, termasuk literasi sains fisika. Terlebih fakta di Indoensia, kemampuan literasi sains siswa masih rendahmenurut hasil PISA. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan awal literasi sains fisika siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Jepara di masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 71 siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Jepara. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara dan tes secara online. Domain kemampuan literasi sains yang diukur adalah domain kompetensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi sains fisika siswa pada materi kinematika gerak lurus pada domain kompetensi sebesar 57,50% masih dalam kategori pencapaian “rendah”. Oleh sebab itu, kemampuan literasi sains fisika siswa perlu ditingkatkan. Salah satu faktor rendahnya kemampuan literasi sains fisika ini adalah proses pembelajaran daring yang belum menerapkan kegiatan praktikum. Maka dari itu, upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains fisika tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan cara melakukan kegiatan praktikum berbasis literasi sains secara daring

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui dampak penggunaan alat peraga gerak parabola terhadap pemahaman konsep gerak parabola, penelitian dilakukan secara kuasi eksperiment pada kelas  XI, di hasilkan kesimpulan bahwa  penggunaan alat peraga mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa kelas XI pada pokok bahasan gerak parabola. Hal ini didukung oleh peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa pada kelas eksperimen yang ditinjau dari akumulasi nilai seluruh kelas dan dari tiap indikator pemahaman konsep. Ditinjau dari ketujuh indikator pemahaman konsep, pada kelas eksperimen terdapat lima indikator yang mengalami peningkatan dalam kategori tinggi, yakni indikator menginterpretasi, mencontohkan, mengklasifikasi, menduga dan menjelaskan. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep ini sangat besar kemungkinanya karena dipengaruhi penggunaan alat peraga sederhana sebagai media pembelajaran pada kelas eksperimen.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian pengembangan perkuliahan fisika, penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan program perkuliahan yang mampu membekali keterampilan merancang kegiatan laboratorium kepada mahasiswa calon guru. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kegelisahan rendahnya keterampilan guru fisika dalam merancang kegiatan laboratorium yang berdampak pada rendahnya kegiatan laboratorium oleh guru fisika dalam proses pembelajaranya.Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode pengembangan dan ujicoba pada mahasiswa fisika semester 5 universitas PGRI Semarang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan Karakteristik program perkuliahan yang dikembangkan memberikan penjelasan tentang ciri khas program perkuliahan fisika berorientasi keterampilan (MKL). Program terdiri atas: pembekalan, analisis dan identifikasi kurikulum, penyusunan rencana, pembuatan alat peraga, validasi produk, pengujian dan evaluasi. Masing-masing tahap merupakan ciri khas program diuraikan secara rinci, dengan harapan agar lebih mudah dipahami.Simpulan penelitian ini adalah program perkuliahan berorientasi keterampilan MKL yang dikembangkan valid, Karakteristik program perkuliahan MKL terdiri 6 tahap yang saling terkait antar tahapnya dan disetiap tahap dihasilkan produk yang menjadi indikator dari keterampilan yang diharapkan dari program yang dikembangkan. Kebaruan program yang dikembangkan adalah jenis keterampilan yang dibekalkan dan produk perkuliahan mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of research on the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) can improve students' physics learning outcomes in terms of knowledge and skills. Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles, the subject of the research was class X APHP 03 with 35 students. The data collection method used was a test for knowledge and skill aspects through observation. Qualitative descriptive data analysis method for the knowledge aspect by percentage of students' mastery level classically and the skill aspect through the observation sheet scoring. Learning outcomes from cycle I and cycle II have increased in the knowledge aspect by 17.14%. Aspects of student skills increase in the indicators of systematic presentation, mastery of the material and pronunciation at the time of presentation, so that the implementation of Problem Based Learning can improve student learning outcomes

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a learning evaluation instrument on Newton's Law Materials using a four-tier test with a metacognitive perspective to identify students' thinking abilities from metacognition and students' misconceptions. The research employed the RD (Research and Development) design with a 4-D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The instrument was constructed by developing twelve questions. There were ten valid and reliable questions with good quality parameters (difficulty level and differentiating power). The researchers analyzed the four-tier test instrument with a metacognitive perspective approach using item difficulty level analysis, item discriminatory analysis, test reliability analysis, and expert validity testing. This research involved 30 participants in the small-scale test and 250 participants in the large-scale trial. The test results showed that the ten questions could identify students' thinking abilities from the perspective of metacognition and misconceptions on Newton's Law material. The findings of the large-scale test showed that students' thinking skills were mapped into high, medium, and low categories. Students' misconceptions were also mapped on each indicator of the questions compiled. Based on the mapping result, the highest students' misconceptions were found in the aspect of the metacognitive experience, with an average of 76 percent of students experiencing misconceptions.

Abstract

This literature review reveals the journal publication on integrated scientific literacy in natural science learning. A systematic review was carried out through a modified and adopted items selected for the systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA). The articles with integrated scientific literacy have been detected in a number of journals, such as ERIC, SCIENCE DIRECT, IJSE, SE, JRST, IOP SCIENCE, DOAJ, and Springer, using the keywords of "Science Literacy teaching materials." The results suggest that the number of studies on integrating scientific literacy learning materials from 2016 to 2020 is still low, so that the opportunity for its development remains wide.

Abstract

The cognitive development of elementary school student are at a concrete operational stage, so that prospective elementary school teachers must have knowledge and experience in managing contextual and meaningful learning. The obstacle to the implementation of practicum while online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, so an alternative method is needed to carried out in a home experiment. In the daily life of the students, collision events are often encountered. Many kinds of playing ball (i.e., tennis balls, basketball, and ping-pong ball) are examples of collision events. This research aims are to develop material content elastic collision experiments of contextual science learning for prospective teachers using the Phyphox application. The Research and Development (R and D) through ADDIE design has been applied to achieve the objectives of this research. The stages of this research were carried out through the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. This research has produced a material content elastic collision experiments of contextual science learning for prospective science teachers through using the Phyphox application. The average percentage of material expert validation results related to indicator of content quality, content compliance and content language is 93.33%. The experimental results show that the coefficient of restitution of the small basketball on the ceramic floor is 0.848; for tennis balls 0.716 and for ping-pong balls is 0.836. The collision for the three types of the balls with the floor are classified as partially elastic collisions. It can be concluded that the material content elastic collision experiments of contextual science learning for prospective science teachers using the Phyphox application are in very feasible criteria and valid to be implemented in basic science concept lectures. The implication of this research indicates that smartphone-based experiments using phyphox application motivate and makes various science experiments more accessible with simple methods to analyze experiment data. Home experiment activity using Phyphox application is recommended to help students to describe and determine the type of collision, determine the energy lost during a collision and the coefficient of restitution, draw a graph of the relationship between height and time in a contextual and meaningful way of science learning activity.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain the product, feasibility and effectiveness of Diary Book of Science media with the STEM Approach Discovery syntax to improve Students' Concept Understanding and Scientific Communication Skills. The research and development method used in this study refers to the method developed by Borg & Gall. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and tests. Diary Book of Science with the STEM Approach Discovery syntax was validated by three validators, namely material experts, media experts and linguists’ experts, to determine the feasibility of the product itself. Students carry out further validation to find student responses and get suggestions for media development. Diary Book of Science with Discovery syntax with a STEM approach is intended to use Diary, which has a discovery learning syntax which is then combined with a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach to the material of the earth's structure and its dynamics. With the study's results showing that it can improve the ability to understand concepts and scientific communication skills, the score of material experts is 89%, media experts are 85.67%, and language experts are 78.67%. The expert validation results for the Diary Book of Science with the Discovery syntax and STEM approach, material for the structure of the earth and its dynamics as a whole, has a percentage of 84.4%. This percentage is included in the very feasible criteria. Media Diary Book of Science with the Discovery syntax with the STEM approach is effectively used to analyze conceptual understanding and scientific communication skills with an increasing percentage of students who achieve learning mastery scores as indicated by differences in pretest and posttest scores

Abstract

Pelaksanaan perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD dilakukan dengan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek (project based learning) untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan literasi sains yang menjadi ciri pembelajaran abad 21. Untuk mengetahui tercapai tidaknya capaian pembelajaran mata kuliah Pembelajaran IPA di SD pada Prodi PGSD FIP Universitas PGRI Semarang maka dilakukan evaluasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan Model Countenance Stake. Evaluasi berdasar pada Permendikbud no 3 tahun 2020 tentang standar nasional pendidikan tinggi pasal 12 ayat 2. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan analisis proses evaluasi yang menekankan pada dua jenis tahapan yaitu deskripsi (descriptions) dan pertimbangan (judgments) serta membedakan tiga fase dalam evaluasi program yaitu: (1) persiapan (antecedents), (2) transaksi, dan (3) outcome dari program ini yakni hasil belajar mahasiswa. Hasil evaluasi perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA SD dengan Project Based Learning menggunakan Model Countanance Stake menunjukkan bahwa persiapan perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD dengan model project based learning ditunjukkan dengan ketercapaian RPS yang dibuat mencapai 77,77% pada kategori baik. Proses pelaksanaan perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD dengan model project based learning ditunjukkan dengan ketercapaian prinsip Student Centered Learning (SCL) dalam proses pembelajaran mencapai 80% pada kategori baik. Hasil belajar mahasiswa pada perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD dengan model project based learning ditunjukkan dengan ketercapaian hasil belajar mahasiswa dari ke tiga aspek (pengetahuan, sikap, maupun keterampilan) telah memenuhi memenuhi kriteria sangat baik, antara sangat baik dan baik dan baik sebesar lebih dari 75%. Persiapan perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD dapat diperhatikan terkait kelengkapan dan kejelasan sintaks model project based learning, serta pengintegrasian STEAM dan TPACK dalam pembelajaran. Selain berpusat pada mahasiswa, pada perkuliahan pembelajaran IPA di SD juga diharapkan memenuhi karakteristik proses pembelajaran sebagaimana dimaksud dalam Pasal 10 ayat (2) yang terdiri dari interaktif, holistik, integratif, saintifik, kontekstual, tematik, efektif, dan kolaboratif. Dosen dapat mengintegrasikan pendekatan pembelajaran dan penilaian yang dapat melatih keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi serta literasi sains mahasiswa.
