Abstract

A good stability of a fishing vessel determines the safety and the success of fishing operation. One of the critical factors affecting the quality of fishing boat’s stability is the on board loads arrangement. However, it is generally ignored by traditional fishermen, such as fishermen of payang boat. This condition may increase the possibility of capsizing as a result of less stability. A payang fishing boat should have a good stability. It is because while conducting fishing operation, this fishing boat should be capable of quick manoeuvering. This research aimed to analyse the stability of the boat in an existing loads arrangement and determine the arrangement for the better stability.  This research was conducted in two phases. The first phase was conducting a survey which to capture existing condition. The second one was developing a simulation of loads arrangement to gain the better parameter of stability. The results showed that the typical loads arrangement applying by traditional fishermen (existing condition) resulted on poor stability. Better stability was produced by placing more cargos under deck and avoiding overload on the deck.

Abstract

Kapal perikanan merupakan salah satu unsur dalam menentukan keberhasilan operasi penangkapan ikan. Pembuatan kapal perikanan di Indonesia secara umum masih bersifat tradisional. Kayu digunakan sebagai material utama dan dibutuhkan ketersediaan kayu dalam jumlah yang besar. Saat ini, produksi kayu dari hutan di Indonesia semakin menurun sehingga menyebabkan kayu menjadi terbatas dan harganya tidak ekonomis, sehingga perlu adanya efisiensi penggunaan kayu. Tingkat efisiensi ini dilihat dari tingkat pemanfaatan material kayu pada pembuatan konstruksi kapal. Penelitian ini penting dilakukan dengan alasan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi serta keefektifan pembangunan kapal kayu di Indonesia terutama pada penggunaan material kapal, salah satunya adalah gading-gading. Pemilihan gading-gading sebagai fokus bahasan pada penelitian ini dikarenakan gading-gading merupakan salah satu konstruksi utama kapal yang berfungsi sebagai rangka kapal. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survey, yaitu galangan kapal rakyat UD. Semangat Untung di Desa Tanah Beru, Bulukumba, Sulawesi Selatan. Objek penelitian ini adalah kapal perikanan yang memiliki 29 gading-gading dengan tipe U bottom, round bottom, dan V bottom. Analisis data dilakukan dengan membandingkan volume kayu terpakai dengan volume kayu awal serta mengelompokkan gading-gading berdasarkan tipenya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemanfaatan kayu untuk pembuatan gading-gading mencapai 85,53%. Nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan kayu untuk gading-gading cukup efektif.

Abstract

Muatan utama kapal pengangkut ikan hidup (KPIH) adalah air laut dan ikan yang berenang bebas di dalamnya. Oleh karena itu, maka jenis muatan di dalam palka KPIH adalah merupakan muatan jenis liquid (cair). Muatan berbentuk liquid mudah berubah bentuk. Terlebih jika permukaan muatan liquid tersebut masih dapat bergerak bebas. Pada saat kapal melakukan gerakan, terutama gerakan oleng, maka permukaan muatan liquid tersebut akan bebas bergerak ke arah kemiringan kapal selama terjadinya gerakan oleng kapal. Pergerakan ini diduga akan mempengaruhi kualitas stabilitas kapal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk mengetahui parameter stabilitas yang dipengaruhi oleh pergerakan free surface, dan 2) menghitung perubahan nilai parameter stabilitas yang dipengaruhi oleh pergerakan free surface. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara simulasi numeric dan dianalisis secara numeric-comparative. Dari hasil kajian diketahui bahwa nilai parameter stabilitas kapal yang dipengaruhi oleh pergerakan free surface adalah lengan penegak (righting arm, ), sudut oleng kapal pada saat menghasilkan lengan penegak maksimal (), initial dan rolling period, dengan penurunan nilai parameter stabilitas masing-masing adalah sebesar 10% untuk , 3,9% untuk , 10,6% untuk initial . Adapun untuk rolling period mengalami peningkatan sebesar 3,9%.

Abstract

This paper describe results of the experiment of resistance from four different types of fishing boat hull in Indonesia such as U-bottom, round bottom, round flat bottom and akatsuki. The objectives of the research are to estimate the value of the resistance from different type of fishing boat hull, and (2) to estimate the type of hull which is the highest and lowest resistance.The research was carried out in the flume tank by using the model of fishing boat hull with scale 1 : 40.The four different types of hull were investigate in the water flow. The data of resistance were taken when the fishing boat in stable condition, heaving, pitching and moving to the right and left. The 10 data were taken from each different types of hull.The results of the experiment shows that the akatsuki type is the highest resistance, followed by U-bottom, round flat bottom and round bottom. The percentage of resistance from each type of hull shows that the akatsuki 0,19% higher than U-bottom. While the resistance of U-bottom 8,05% higher than round flat bottom, and the resistance round flat bottom 3,23% higher than round bottom.

Abstract

This article determines about technology level Dok Pembinaan Unit Pelaksana Teknis Balai Teknologi Penangkapan Ikan (UPT BTPI) Muara Angke, Jakarta.  Assessment of technology level is conducted by using model technometric to calculate TCC (technology contribution coefficient) value from technology component, consist of: technoware (hardware), humanware (human resources), inforware (information component), and orgaware (organization component). Value of component contribution orgaware haves contribution is lower value as 0.347, whereas component humanware haves highest contribution as 0.600.  TCC value from Dok Pembinaan UPT BTPI Mua-ra Angke as 0.447 indicate that technology in that shipyard has been fair and can be told that level of shipyard technology is semi modern.Key word: shipyard, technology, technometric model

Abstract

This paper discusses about the volume and capacity of fish hold in fishing vessel. By using these values, estimation of fishing vessel productivity can be carried out. In the scope of responsible and sustainable fisheries, knowledge fishing vessel productivity plays an important role in order to avoid under exploitation or over fishing in fishing ground. The aims of the research are to calculate the volume and capacity of fish hold of 50 – 100 GT tuna long liner. One of the result show that the total capacity of fish hold depends on its volume and combination of fish storing system applied.

Abstract

Salah satu jenis kapal perikanan adalah kapal pengangkut ikan hidup. Kapal pengangkut ikan hidup (KPIH) ini terdiri dari dua muatan yaitu padat dan cair. Perbedaan muatan tersebut akan memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda terhadap pergerakan kapal. Perbedaan pergerakan ini dikarenakan muatan padat akan bersifat tetap sedangkan muatancair mudah berubah bentuk sesuai dengan tempatnya. Selain itu, apabila tangki yang bermuatan cair tidak terisi penuh maka akan terdapat  permukaan bebas yang dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya efek free surface yang dapat menurunkan kualitas stabilitas kapal. Pengaruh perbedaan muatan terhadap pergerakan kapal dapat diamati melalui pergerakan rolling yang terjadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mendapatkan nilai rolling period kapal bermuatan padat pada ketinggian muatan yang berbeda, 2) mendapatkan nilai rolling period kapal bermuatan cair pada ketinggian muatan yang berbeda, dan 3) mendapatkan nilai perbedaan rolling period antara kapal bermuatan padat dengan kapal bermuatan cair. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara mengamati gerakan rolling model kapal sebagai efek dari keberadaan muatan padat dan pergerakan free surface muatan cair. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa rata-rata rolling period kapal bermuatan padat pada ketinggian 2,2 cm adalah 0,28 detik; pada ketinggian 4,5 cm adalah 0,28 detik; dan pada ketinggian 6,7 adalah 0,33 detik. Sedangkan rata-rata rolling period kapal  bermuatan cair pada ketinggian 2,2 cm adalah 0,45 detik; pada ketinggian 4,5 cm adalah 0,37 detik; dan pada ketinggian 6,7 adalah 0,37 detik. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kapal dengan muatan cair memiliki rolling period lebih lama dibandingkan kapal dengan muatan padat. Kata Kunci: free surface, stabilitas, rolling period

Abstract

Ships carrying liquid cargo will experience free surface effects. It is a free movement of liquid cargo in the hold, especially during rolling motions. The use of absorber fins in hold is an alternative to reduce the free surface effect. This study aimed to determine the minimum size of absorber fins that were still effective to reduce the effect of free surface affecting the rolling motion of ship. The experimental method was applied by using a model ship with hold. Four size of absorber fins were used as treatments in this experiment. Data were analyzed by comparative numerical and statistical tests using a completely randomized design. During the experimental, four variable that were observed such as angle of rolling ship model, rolling duration, rolling frequency and rolling period. The result showed that the use of absorber fins with the size of (10%) of the free surface area was effective to reduce the free surface effect toward the rolling motion of ship models.

Abstract

Unit fishing and operation in Pacitan very varied, these variations complicated the management of fisheries. Understanding on fishing unit dynamic and characteritic is very important in fisheries management. The purpose of this research is to analyze characteristic of fishing unit, fishermen, fishing ground, and also to classify the fishing operational patterns. This research was conducted in February, April and May 2013 in Pacitan District, East Java Province. The data collection were conducted by personal interview and observation. The data were analysed by descriptive table and cluster analysis. The results showed that fishing activities scattered along the Pacitan coastal area. Fishing gear were operated inboard, outboard, and without engine. Outboard engine reach 84 percent from population. On the other hand, fishing gear which operated in Pacitan are traps, hooks, gillnet, seine net, purse seine, and liftnet. Using four parameters (length of ship, engine power, crews, and fishing gear) the cluster analysis resumed 6 patterns of fishing operation type. Variation of fishing patterns caused by capital ability and fishermen’s skills. This research concluded that the fishing unit in Pacitan is varied and dominated by outboard engine that has 6 fishing operation patterns.
