Judo provides socio-cultural values to each individual involved through the training process that is carried out, these socio-cultural values are expected to remain in the daily life of Judo athletes. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design research design. The treatment carried out during the experiment was an integration of socio-cultural value education with the Judo training process. Treatment is given for 6 weeks with a frequency of 2 sessions/week, each session consisting of 120 minutes divided into 5 parts, namely introduction, explanation, discussion, ice breaking, and closing. The sample used in this study was 10 athletes from Bandung PPLPD Judo by using a total sampling approach. The instrument that the author uses in this study is the TQR-Questionnaire which is given twice to the sample. The results showed that there was a significant influence between Judo training and the increase in social-cultural values of athletes. Abstract

This research was motivated by the physical condition of athletes which began to decline due to self-quarantine carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic starting from March 2020. This made athletes limited in carrying out the training process because the training process was carried out online. This method is considered to be less than optimal because the possibility of error is quite high, while the demands of the optimal athlete’s physical condition are still needed. To meet the needs of these physical conditions, athletes should not only focus on physical exercise, but athletes also need to pay attention to a lifestyle in which the right food plays a major role. Athletes must consider nutritional needs, calorie, and fluid intake, and meal times to obtain optimal physical needs. However, athletes have difficulty doing this. The inability of athletes to meet their nutritional needs optimally makes athletes and coaches try to find ways to be able to meet these needs, one way is to use supplements. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the relationship between supplement consumption and the aerobic capacity of taekwondo athletes. Methods: This study used a correlational design involving 16 athletes (8 males and 8 females) from TKD of the Indonesia University of Education who were selected using purposive sampling technique with the criteria being athletes who are members of the core team and are specially prepared to face the 2021 competition. The research instrument used was a close-ended questionnaire and a Balke test. Results: The results showed that as many as 63% of TKD athletes took supplements. The type of supplement that is most widely used based on the majority content in it is protein as much as 50%. The most commonly consumed form of supplement is powder at a daily frequency. Information about supplements was obtained from trainers by 50%, friends as much as 30% and the other 20%. The TKD athlete’s aerobic capacity is still 60% of the target set by the coach. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is no significant relationship between supplement consumption and the aerobic capacity of TKD athletes.KEYWORD: aerobic capacity; physical condition; supplement; taekwondo athletes

Abstract

The holistic approach to developing volleyball skills that incorporates social skills is essential in shaping the character and life skills of young athletes. Social skills such as cooperation, communication, and trust not only impact performance on the field but also shape the morals and values of participants beyond sports. The roles of coaches, teachers, and educators are crucial in guiding students in the world of sports. This study utilized the Quasi Experimental Design "The Matching Only Pretest Posttest Control Group," comparing the treatment group receiving volleyball training integrated with social skills against the control group receiving conventional training. The research aimed to evaluate the impact of integrating sports values on participants' understanding of these values in the context of sports. The research findings indicate that volleyball training integrated with social skills significantly positively impacted the participants' social skill development. Practical recommendations include strengthening cooperation through regular exercises and evaluations, enhancing verbal and nonverbal communication skills, promoting empathy and appreciation for differences, focusing on collaboration within the team, and providing specific training to build trust among team members. Integrating these aspects into sports training programs not only enhances athletes' performance but also equips them with profound social skills. Coaches must take a proactive role as role models, creating youths who are not only skilled in sports but also possess strong social skills. This approach provides a solid foundation for the development of successful athletes and valuable individuals in society.
