Abstract

ABSTRACTFish is perishable food because it contains high enough protein and water, therefore to easy damaged by microorganism. Then the control of mircoorganism should be done to maintaining the quality of fish to stay awake.Turmeric is one of the herbs that has compound content curcumin and fenolik being able to control the growth of contaminants microorganism. The objective of this research is to find out the power of immersion of mudfish grouper (Epinephelus tauvina) by infusa turmeric rhizome (Curcuma longaLinn) through sampled from Kedonganan Market, Bali. The treatment given to mudfish grouper was turmeric rhizome infusion withconcentration of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% tested in vitro and in vivo on the growth of E. coli and Vibrio sp. The resourcesinhibited turmeric infusa rhizome is determined by counting the population of bacteria test after treatment by the method of dilution sampling (Plating Method). The results showed that turmeric rhizome infusion was able significantly (P<0,05) inhibitionto the growth of E. coli and Vibrio sp. both in vitro and in vivo. The control (0%) in vitro population E. coli and Vibrio sp. each of 5,23x102 CFU/g and 4,98x102 CFU/g higher than with the treatment of concentration 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Population E. coli and Vibrio sp. in testing by in vivo (concentration 0%) each is obtained 4,17x102 CFU/g dan 4,20x102 CFU/g in statistic is different (P<0,05) with the concentration 10%, 15% and 20%. Abstract

Breadfruit (Artocarpus communis Forst.) leaves have a high antioxidant content. This research aims to know the effect of breadfruit leaf extracts on blood sugar levels and the amount of sperm in rat. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using 30 rats aged 2-3 months and weighing 150-200 grams. Male rats were divided into six groups, i.e. negative control group (K1) without treatment, groups K2, P1, P2, P3 and P4 are given then NaCl 0.9%, breadfruit leaf extracts 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg body weight, and glibenclamide 1 mg/kg body weight respectively. The treatments were given every day for 21 days. Blood sugar levels were measured before and after aloksan administration, day 7, 14, and 21 after treatment as well as counting the number of sperm after 21 days. The data obtained were analyzed with ANOVA and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT), using the program of SPSS For Windows version 22. Results of the study showed that breadfruit (Artocarpus communis Forst.) leaf extracts could lowered blood glucose levels and the most effective concentration was 100 mg/kg body weight of breadfruit leaf extracts given for 21 days with the effectiveness of 66,77%. Breadfruit leaf extracts did not inhibit spermatogenesis. So the amount of rat sperm did not different significantly among treatment. Keywords: blood sugar levels, breadfruit, rat, sperm count

Abstract

Leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) has been used as traditional medicine, such asdrugs to decrease the level of blood glucose, so it can be used as drug to indicatediabetes. The aim of this research is to study the histopathological change of mice’s livergiven leucaena leaf extract. This research used 24 male mice that were divided into 4 groupsby completely randomized design. Group P0 (control) were given 0,9 % NaCl, and groupsP1, P2, and P3 were given 0,5 g / kg bw, 1 g / kg bw, and 1,5 g / kg bw leucaena’s leafextract by oral administration respectively. The treatment were given daily for 30 days. All ofthe mice were necropsied at day 31, and the liver were taken to examine theirhistopathological change. Histopathological change examination were based on the presenthydropic degeneration, fatty degeneration, and apoptosis surround central vein. Result ofstatistically analised by ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis method indicated no significancedifference among the control and treatments. There was no significance toxicity effect ofleucaena leaf extract of all treatment dosage on mice liver.Keywords: Leucaena leucocephala, liver histology, Mus musculus L.

Abstract

Bean sprouts, vegetables that are often consumed, contain vitamin E, C, riboflavin, niacin, folate, and some minerals suchas selenium, manganese, zinc and iron. Honey contains monosaccharide i.e. fructose, sucrose, glucose, and maltose. Thisstudy aimed to investigate the effect of bean sprout extract added with honey to the spermatozoa quality of male mice and themost concentration that affected. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD). Twenty male mice divided intofour groups: control (aquadest), P1 (25 mg/g BW bean sprout extract + 0.07 ml honey), P2 (50 mg/g BW bean sprout extract+ 0.07 ml honey) and P3 (75 mg/g BW bean sprout extract + 0.07 ml honey). The extracts were given 0.3 ml/mice/day for 30days. The variables that are observed were spermatozoa motility, morphology, viability and also amount of spermatozoa. Datawere analyzed with one way ANOVA and followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that beansprout extracts added with honey gave positive effects by increasing type A motility of spermatozoa but decreased type Dmotility. The treatments also increased the amount of spermatozoa significantly. However, 75 mg/g BW bean sprout extract +0.07 ml honey did not affect spermatozoa morphology and viability of male mice (Mus musculus L.). The optimal dose thataffected sperm quality in this research was 50 mg/g BW bean sprout extract + 0.07 ml honey.Keywords : honey, Mus musculus L, bean sprout extracts, the quality of spermatozoa

Abstract

Senyawa antioksidan, flavonoid, dan saponin banyak terkandung dalam daun belimbing besi (Averrhoa carambola) sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh antidiabetes ekstrak daun belimbing besi pada mencit. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 perlakuan, yaitu P1 (aquadest tanpa aloksan) sebagai kontrol negatif, P2 (aquadest dengan aloksan) sebagai control positif, P3 metformin 500 mg/kgBB), P4 (aloksan + ekstrak daun belimbing besi 100 mg/kgBB) , P5 (aloksan + ekstrak daun belimbing besi 150 mg/kgBB), P6 (aloksan + ekstrak daun belimbing besi 200 mg/kgBB). Sebelumnya hewan coba dijadikan diabetes dengan menginduksi aloksan sebanyak 120 mg/kgBB secara intramuscular pada otot paha. Pembuatan ekstrak daun belimbing besi menggunakan metode maserasi. Setelah hewan diabetes, diberikan perlakuan ekstrak etanol daun belimbing besi sesuai rancangan percobaan, dimulai hari ke-7 sampai hari ke-21. Kadar glukosa darah diukur dengan glucometer setiap minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai penurunan kadar glukosa darah terbaik terjadi pada minggu pertama dan minggu kedua. Pada minggu pertama, perlakuan metformin mampu menurunkan glukosa darah mencit sebanyak 88.4%, sedangkan perlakuan ekstrak etanol daun belimbing besi dosis 200 mg sebanyak 60%. Pada minggu kedua, 65.8% untuk metformin, dan 63% untuk dosis ekstrak daun belimbing 200 mg/kg BB. Ekstrak etanol daun belimbing besi berpotensi sebagai obat antidiabetes. Kata Kunci: mencit, diabetes mellitus, glukosa darah, daun belimbing besi.

Abstract

Dragonfly is an insect which belongs to the Odonata order and consists of the suborder Anisoptera (dragonflies) and the suborder Zygoptera (damselflies). Its habitat is very wide including in the rice field. Dragonflies and damselflies are predatory insects, both in the form of nymphs and adults, so their role is very important in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. The research was conducted to finding out the dragonfly species found in rice plantations in rice fields around the Denpasar area. Sampling was done by catching using insect nets on rice plantations, in the morning from 08.00 to 11.00 WITA, and in the afternoon from 15.00 to 17.00 WITA. Dragonfly samples obtained were then preserved to be identified by observing the morphological characters based on Hanum et al. (2013), and Sigit et al. (2013). Dragonfly species found in rice plantations areas in several rice fields around Denpasar are as many as 8 species which are included in 2 suborder, namely suborder Anisoptera (5 species) and suborder Zygoptera (3 species), Species of suborder Anisoptera (Potamarcha congener) only found in rice plantations in East Denpasar. Abstract

Fitoestrogen merupakan senyawa dari tumbuhan yang memiliki kemiripan struktur dan memiliki efek seperti estrogen. Flavonoid merupakan salah satu jenis senyawa fitoestrogen. Daun ubi kayu diketahui mengandung senyawa flavonoid. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh seduhan daun ubi kayu (Manihot esculenta Crantz.) terhadap gambaran histologi kelenjar mammae mencit (Mus musculus) betina. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 6 kali ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari K0 sebagai kontrol diberi akuades 0,5 mL/bb/hr, P1 yang diberi seduhan daun ubi kayu 0,5 mL dengan konsentrasi 7%, P2 yang diberi seduhan daun ubi kayu 0,5 mL dengan konsentrasi 9%, P3 yang diberi seduhan daun ubi kayu 0,5 mL dengan konsentrasi 11% selama 21 hari. Pada hari ke-22 dilakukan pembedahan, kemudian kelenjar mammae mencit (M. musculus) betina diambil untuk dibuat sayatan histologi. Sayatan histologi kelenjar mammae mencit dibuat dengan metode parafin dan pewarnaan hematoxylyn-eosin serta diamati dibawah mikroskop dengan perbesaran 100x dengan bantuan optilab dan program image raster. Parameter yang diamati meliputi rata-rata jumlah alveoli kelenjar mammae, jumlah duktus kelenjar mammae, serta diameter duktus kelenjar mammae mencit (M. musculus) betina. Data yang didapat dianalisis secara statistik dengan program SPSS seri 23 for Windows. Apabila dari hasil analisis berbeda nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seduhan daun ubi kayu secara nyata meningkatkan rata-rata jumlah alveoli, jumlah duktus dan diameter duktus kelenjar mammae mencit (Mus musculus) betina. Dosis seduhan daun ubi kayu (M. esculenta Crantz.) yang paling berpengaruh adalah dosis 9 g/Kg BB mencit (M. musculus) betina.
