Abstract

This study examines the use of Dahlia tubers (Dahlia variabilis) in catfish cracers product (Clarias batrachus) as functional food.  This research was conducted in Laboratory of Livestock Technology UNTAD.  The study was conducted on September up to December 2015. Research method that used was AOAC (2009) to examine the content of inulin and proximate test, while for the organoleptic quality used (SNI 01-2346-2006) method. The research design were Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and Random Group Design (RGD). The result of the research showed that the yield generated on processing of Dahlia tubers into flour is 17.73%, the best inulin content contained is 2.14% at the variable F4. The best result of proximate test are at the variable F4 with 7.25% water content, 4.31% ash content, 0.24% crude lipid, and 1.06% crude fiber.  The organoleptic quality of catfish cracers consistenly give unreal influence (p>0.01) toward the appearance , smell , texture and taste while the texture give highly significant effect (p<0.01).

Abstract

Research was aimed to study the effect of live feed Artemia salina and Rotifera on growth and survival rates of larva saline nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Research was counducted from March to April 2015 in Balai Budidaya Air Payau (BBAP) Takalar, Mapakalompo Village, Galesong Subdistrict, Takalar District, South Sulawesi. The fish was maintained in the 15 litre basin with density of 2 ind/litre. Larva fed according to the treatments: A (100% Artemia salina), B (100% Rotifera) and C ( 50% Artemia salina and 50% Rotifera) three times a day and was weighed three time a day during the research (12 days). Absolute growth and survival rates of each experimental unit was accounted at the end the experimental. the experimental was completely randomize designed with three treatments and six replicates. Results growth (1,54), while the highest survival rates (86,66%) was achieved at 50% Artemia salina feeding.   Keywords: Larva Saline Nile Tilapia, Artemia Salina, Rotifera, Growth, Survival

Abstract

Eel has economic value is a species of fish that are sold on the international market, Karnan containing vitamins and micronutrients are very high. The research objective was to determine the effect of silage by substitution of fish meal and eggs of snails (Pomacea canaliculata) to the growth of fingerling eels (Anguilla marmorata). This study was conducted from November 2014 - January 2015. Research laboratory housed in Agricultural Technology (THP) Tadulako University, Palu. The raw material for the manufacture of feed that is, fish silage, egg flour, bran flour, tapioca starch, vitamins and minerals. Feed is made in the form of fish paste. Eating in eel fingerlings that every day as much as 5-10% of the total weight of fish per day. Eat twice a day, morning and afternoon har. The study design completely randomized design (CRD), with 3 treatments and 6 replications. Treatment A: 90% + 10% egg fish silage flour; Treatment B: 80% + 20% egg fish silage flour; Treatment C: 70% + 30% egg fish silage flour. With the ever-dose comparisons between fish silage and flour (90: 10) (treatment A) can promote the growth, survival and feed efficiency was good. Key words: eggs, snails, growth, Anguilla marmorata

Abstract

Study on habitat, distribution and size structure of opudi (Telmatherina antoniae) was carried out in Lake Matano, South Sulawesi from September 2010 to August 2011. Habitat was described based on underwater observations. Fish collections were accomplished monthly by using beach seine. The fish was distributed throughout littoral areas within clear water. The observed habitat ranged between sandy, cobbles to bouldery bottom substrate. Some parts of habitat had less vegetation and the others did not. Fish collected during the study were 2707 individuals, in which 53.08% of them were males and the remains were females. The individuals had standard length (SL) ranged between 32.76 and 85.67 mm. Male specimens were dominated by individuals ranged between 41.58 and 54.80 mm (78.98% of total male specimens). Female specimens were dominated by individuals ranged between 37.17 and 54.80 (87.80% of total female specimens). Both male and female individuals were dominated by large size classes.Key words: Distribution,habitat, size structure, Telmatherina antoniae.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzed Internal Factor Evaluation, External Factor Evaluation, SWOT and Grand Strategy Matrices. The results showed that the strengths of eel business development in Palu were experience in the eel business, regular customers and suppliers as well strategic business location. The weaknesses were that the collectors/traders/middlemen don?t yet know how to grow out glass eels and captive breeding is not yet possible, business management is still family-oriented and production capacity is still limited. Opportunity factors for eel business development in Palu were high market demand (domestic and foreign), eel resources are still abundant and eel prices remain high. While threat factors were weaknesses in legislation/regulation on eels, environmentally damaging capture methods, and changes in climate that affect the availability of eels. The strategy for eel business development in Palu City was in quadrant I, which is a Strength-Opportunity (S-O) or aggressive strategy

Abstract

Some problems in Betta splendens cultivate activities were slow growth and mortality rates still high in the larval stage. Generally, Betta splendens larvae require a feed type based to the larval mouth. Some types of feed that can be given for larvae were Infusoria and yolk suspension. The study aims to find out the growth and survival rate of Betta splendens giving different first feeding. The study was conducted in January-February 2019 at Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biota, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University. The study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 3 treatments: A (infusoria); B (egg yolk); C (infusoria and egg yolk). Data were analyzed with ANOVA. The results showed that giving different first feeding did not significantly affect the growth of Betta splendens. The highest weight in the treatment of infusoria feed and the highest percentage of survival rate in the treatment of egg yolk.

Abstract

Peningkatan salinitas pada media budidaya pembesaran glass eel ikan sidat (Anguilla marmorata) perlu dilakukan sebagai pengalihan energi yang digunakan untuk osmoregulasi menjadi energi yang digunakan untuk pertumbuhan. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup glass eel ikan sidat (Anguilla marmorata) yang dipelihara dalam media bersalinitas berbeda. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Perikanan/Budidaya Perairan Fakultas Peternakan dan Perikanan Universitas Tadulako, Palu, Sulawesi Tengah. Penelitian dirancang dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) menggunakan 5 (lima) perlakuan yang masing-masing diulang sebanyak 4 (empat) kali sehingga diperoleh 20 unit percobaan. Perlakuan tersebut adalah S0 (kontrol), S3 (salinitas 3 ppt), S6 (salinitas 6 ppt), S9 (salinitas 9 ppt) dan S12 (salinitas 12 ppt). Hasil penelitian menunjukan pertumbuhan terbaik bobot rata-rata glass eel ikan sidat (Anguilla marmorata) pada perlakuan salinitas 3 ppt dengan nilai 0,8 g, pertumbuhan terbaik panjang rata-rata pada salinitas 3 ppt dengan nilai 4,96 cm dan kelangsungan hidup terbaik pada perlakuan 6 ppt dengan presentasi 94,16%.

Abstract

Study on gonad maturity of coconut crab (Birgus latro) was carried out from June 2004 to January 2005.  Crabs were collected by some gears such as trap, net and by hand. Observation was done to know sex ratio, gonad maturity and eggs diameter, while analysis was employed to estimate condition factor, gonado somatic index and fecundity.  Observation result showed that condition factor, gonad maturity and gonado somatic index varied depending on sampling month. Gonado somatic index showed a high value around November/December.  A similar result was also showed by condition factor and gonado somatic index that was high around November /December. Fecundity varied from 58.717 to 197.400. Oocyte diameter varied from 0,015 to 0,035 mm,  had one mode that is clasified to be a total spawner. Abstract

Penelitian tentang kematangan gonad kepiting kelapa (Birgus latro) dilakukan sejak Juni 2004 sampai Februari 2005. Contoh kepiting ditangkap dengan menggunakan beberapa peralatan, yaitu perangkap, jaring, dan secara langsung dengan tangan. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap jenis kelamin, kematangan gonad, dan diameter telur, sedangkan analisis dilakukan untuk menentukan faktor kondisi, indeks kematangan gonad, dan fekunditas. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa faktor kondisi, kematangan gonad, dan indeks kematangan gonad bervariasi tergantung dari bulan pengambilan contoh. Pengamatan kematangan gonad menunjukkan bahwa nilai tertinggi terdapat pada November/Desember. Keadaan yang sama juga ditunjukkan dengan nilai faktor kondisi dan indeks kematangan gonad yang cukup tinggi pada bulan November /Desember. Fekunditas berkisar antara 58 717 - 197 400 butir telur. Abstract

Moina sp. merupakan salah satu kelompok zooplanktonyang dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan alami untuk larva pada unit pembenihan ikan. Nilai nutrisi pakan alami dapat ditingkatkan untuk memacu pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup larvanikan. Salah satu metode untuk meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi pakan alami Moina sp. adalah melalui pengkayaan dengan minyak jagung, pengkayaan ini dapat meningkatkan kandungan asam lemak pada Moina sp. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan nila yang diberi Moina sp. yang diperkaya dengan minyak jagung. Larva berumur 5 hari pasca menetas (bobot awal 0,09-0,13 g) diberi pakan Moina sp. tigakali sehari secara ad libitum selama 14 hari pemeliharaan. Penelitian didesain dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Penelitian mengaplikasikan lima perlakuan dosis minyak jagung pada media pengkayaan Moina sp., masing-masing dengan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut yaitu: A (0 mL/L), B (0,005 mL/L), C (0,010 mL/L), D (0,015 mL/L), dan E (0,020 mL/L). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengkayaan minyak jagung pada Moinasp. dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan nila. Kecenderungan pertumbuhan bobot terjadi pada setiap peningkatan dosis pengkayaan. Pertumbuhan bobot mutlak dan kelangsungan hidup tertinggi (masing-masing 20 g dan 78%) terdapat pada pemberian minyak jagung 0,020 mL/L, sedangkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidupterendah (masing-masing 0,05 g dan 50%) ditemukan pada perlakuan tanpa pengkayaan minyak jagung.
