Abstract

Communication patterns occur in every organization, including the Alliance of Independent Journalists/Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) Malang in advocating journalists. Journalists who are members of AJI Malang will find it easier to overcome problems while carrying out their journalistic tasks because AJI Malang has three main issues that are always the center of attention, which are the struggle to maintain press freedom, improve journalist's professionalism, and improve the welfare of journalists. The purpose of this study was to determine the organizational communication pattern of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Malang in advocating journalists and factors that hinder the Malang Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in advocating journalists. This study used qualitative research methods. The method of data analysis used by researchers is the descriptive method, which describes the results of the data obtained.The results of the study prove that the communication pattern of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Malang uses the primary, secondary, linear and circular communication patterns. While the factors that hinder the Malang Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in advocating for journalists are two factors, which are the internal factor comes from the number of journalists who have not understood the journalistic code of ethics and stopped the case in the middle of an advocacy process. While external factors came from press companies that were less proactive in guarding advocacy by journalists.

Abstract

Cyber media and social media applications become the key of many tourist attractions in Indonesia. In Malang city, East Java, the local government strengthens the tourism sector by building its tourism village. Utilizing the new media network, Malang is now known as the pioneer of Tourism Village. Unfortunately, as the number of tourism villages becomes famous, there is one famous tourism village that was previously famous, even falling in popularity, namely ‘Kampung Wisata Keramik Dinoyo’. This study aimed to determine the causes of decreasing popularity of the village using public relations theory and descriptive qualitative research methods. In-depth interview were administered to the Chairman of Paguyuban Kampung Wisata Keramik Dinoyo, government, and shop owners in Dinoyo Village. The results showed that Kampung Keramik Dinoyo removed many sectors in the field of public relations, especially the use of new media. It was suggested to tourism village to fully use the new media access in order to improve its image so its popularity also increased.

Abstract

Abstract: Social media exists and changes the communication paradigm of the society, where communication can occur anywhere and anytime without being present face to face. As a social media, Instagram is a communication medium in the form of an application to share photos, that allows its users to take some photos, to apply filters, so that they can be seen by the followers. This research applied qualitative research method. In determining the informant, this research used stratified sampling technique. By some considerations, the informants are the SMK PGRI 3 Malang students, have a smartphone, an Instagram account and are active using it. The informants are popular teenagers who have more followers than their followings and at least having one hundred followers. From the finding of this research, it is known that the narcissism attitudes in Instagram are frequently showing some photos of themselves, either alone, selfies, or with friends, displaying good images to the public in order to get good impressions on the hearts of others, feeling envy on any photos uploaded by others, and be proud of how many followers and likes they get.  Keywords: Social Media, narcissism, Instagram Abstrak: Media sosial hadir dan merubah paradigma berkomunikasi masyarakat, di mana komunikasi bisa terjadi di mana saja dan kapan saja tanpa harus bertatap muka secara langsung. Media sosial Instagram adalah media komunikasi berupa aplikasi untuk berbagi foto, yang memungkinkan penggunanya dapat mengambil foto, menerapkan filter digital, sehingga dapat dilihat oleh para pengikut dari pengunggah foto tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Dalam penentuan informan, penelitian ini menggunakan teknik stratified sampling. Atas beberapa pertimbangan, informan merupakan siswa SMK PGRI 3 Kota Malang, memiliki ponsel pintar, dan akun Instagram serta aktif menggunakannya. Informan merupakan remaja populer dengan (followers) lebih banyak daripada yang (followings), dan memiliki seratus pengikut. Hasil dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa bentuk sikap narsisme yang terjadi di Instagram ialah seringnya menampilkan foto diri, baik sendiri, swafoto, maupun bersama teman, menampilkan citra yang baik kepada khalayak untuk mendapat kesan baik di hati orang lain, merasa iri terhadap apa yang diunggah oleh orang lain, dan merasa bangga dengan banyaknya jumlah pengikut dan penyuka foto unggahan. Kata Kunci: Media sosial, narsisme, Instagram

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to find out the meaning of success contained in LA Lights cigarette commercials "Conquer Your Challenge" and "Success That". Advertising is the most influential promotional tool in influencing an audience. The LA Lights commercial of "Conquering Your Challenge" and "Success That" is an ad that tells the challenges faced in the process of achieving success and success according to each person is different depending on the meaning. The method used in this research is Charles Sanders Pierce Semiotics analysis with qualitative paradigm. In theory categorize as a triangle element meaning of pierce, that is object, representament, and interpretant. The results of the analysis that has been done by the researchers on the meaning of success in LA Lights commercial version "Conquer Your Challenge" is sacrificing time to achieve success, dare to conquer challenges, work actively to achieve success, patience in the face of problems, ready to face risks and have a clear purpose. hile in the vein "Success That" is ready to take risks, work actively to achieve success, dare to conquer challenges, and have clear goals. To achieve success requires hard work, and full of sacrifices. Success is the process and the results vary according to each person depending on the person who interpret the meaning of success itself. Keywords : The meaning of success, LA Lights commercial,  semiotic analysis Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna sukses yang terkandung dalam iklan rokok LA Lights versi “Taklukkan Tantanganmu” dan “Sukses Itu”. Iklan adalah alat promosi yang paling berpengaruh dalam mempengaruhi audiens. Iklan LA Lights versi “Taklukkan Tantanganmu” dan “Sukses Itu”merupakan iklan yang menceritakan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam proses mencapai kesuksesan dan sukses menurut setiap orang itu berbeda tergantung dari yang memaknai. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis Semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce dengan paradigma kualitatif. Dalam teorinya mengkategorikan sebagai elemen segitiga makna pierce, yaitu object, representament, dan interpretant.  Hasil dari analisis yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti  pada makna sukses dalam iklan LA Lights versi “Taklukkan Tantanganmu” adalah mengorbankan waktu untuk meraih kesuksesan, berani menaklukkan tantangan, bekerja dengan aktif untuk meraih kesuksesan, kesabaran dalam menghadapi masalah, siap menghadapi resiko dan memiliki tujuan yang jelas. Sedangkan dalam vesi “Sukses Itu” adalah siap menghadapi resiko, bekerja dengan aktif untuk meraih kesuksesan, berani menaklukkan tantangan, dan memiliki tujuan yang jelas. Untuk meraih kesuksesan diperlukan kerja keras, dan penuh pengorbanan. Sukses itu proses dan hasilnya berbeda menurut setiap orang tergantung orang yang memaknai arti dari kesuksesan itu sendiri.Kata kunci : Makna sukses, iklan LA Lights, analisis semiotika

Abstract

Instagram is one of the most used social media in Indonesia. In 2019, Indonesian Instagram users reached 56 million, Indonesia ranked 4th for country with the most Instagram users around the world. Along with the massive users in Indonesia, Instagram is used as a campaign and promotion media. One of the most popular campaign was some videos with #unboxingcaleg hashtag driven by TemanRakyat.Id. The videos criticized legislative candidates with various signs and symbols. This study aims to reveal these criticisms using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotics theory. First,  researcher will identify the signifier elements (marker), and then reveal its signified. The qualitative method is used to obtain the depth interpretation of the video. As a result, researcher found patterns of signaling systems that express criticism of legislative candidates, as follow: First, candidates are associated as liars because they always make promises they never kept. Both candidates are represented as corruptors / former corruptors who are not ashamed to participate in election again. Third, candidates are considered lazy since they never finished the draft of Indonesian Law. Fourth, candidates are identified as shaping their public image with planned lies. The videos with #unboxingcaleg are considered to carry out some campaigns to make smart voters choose wisely since both candidates have a lot of dishonorable attitudes. Abstract

The number of movies made in Indonesia there are several films that give a good moral message in it. Through the movie "Yowis Ben" the director tried to make something new and different from the comedy genre films on previous comedy films. The purpose of this research is to know and understand the moral messages contained in the movie Yowis Ben. In this study used qualitative research method by using the research object of the Film Yowes Ben. While the data analysis technique uses the semiotic analysis of Charles Sander Pierce which is based on logic, with reasoning through the signs. The Model that shows the three main elements of the marking forming is representament, object and Interpretant. The results of this research show that the YOWIS BEN film has a moral message in various sides of life through signs that are munncul both visual and verbal in their respective stories. There is a moral message related to Bayu's life. It can therefore be concluded that the figures and the talks that exist in each scene are a representation of the moral message.

Abstract

Abstract: Framing the news in newspapers has a negative effect on society as readers. Because pass through framing the news, information obtained society is not intact. As well as news of case disposal of assets of PT. Panca Wira Usaha Java East (PWU Jatim) that involved Dahlan Iskan.This study aims to determine how a media framing the news in relating to the case of release of PT Panca Wira Usaha Java assets East in Jawa Pos and Tempo newspapers, and also to know the difference in framing between Letters news Jawa Pos and Tempo. This study used qualitative methods, with data collection techniques news documentation the case of Dahlan Iskan which was published on Jawa Pos and Tempo newspapers. Starting from April 01, 2017- April 22, 2017. From the research that has been implemented there are some conclusions: (1) Jawa Pos newspaper tend to position Dahlan Iskan not guilty in case of disposal of PT Panca Wira East Java. Business of East Java While the news in Tempo newspaper tends to position Dahlan Iskan guilty in the disposal of assets owned by Panca Wira Usaha Jawa Timur. (2). There is the difference of framing between Jawa Pos and Tempo newspapers in presenting the news about Dahlan Iskan case related to the release of PWU assets of East Java. Key Words: Framing Analysis, News, Dahlan Iskan, Newspaper Abstrak: Pembingkaian berita yang ada dalam surat kabar berdampak kurang baik terhadap masyarakat sebagai pembaca. Karena melalui pembingkaian berita, informasi yang diperoleh masyarakat tidak secara utuh. Seperti halnya berita kasus pelepasan aset PT. Panca Wira Usaha Jawa Timur (PWU Jatim) yang melibatkan Dahlan Iskan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana suatu media membingkai berita terkait kasus pelepasan aset PT Panca Wira Usaha Jawa Timur pada Harian Jawa Pos dan Tempo, serta untuk mengetahui perbedaan framing antara Harian Jawa Pos dan Tempo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data dokumentasi berita kasus Dahlan Iskan yang dimuat pada Harian Jawa Pos dan Tempo. Terhitung mulai tanggal 01 sampai dengan 22 April 2017. Dari penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan terdapat beberapa kesimpulan: (1) Harian Jawa Pos cenderung memposisikan Dahlan Iskan tidak bersalah dalam kasus pelepasan aset PT Panca Wira Usaha Jawa Timur. Sedangkan berita di Harian Tempo cenderung memposisikan Dahlan Iskan bersalah dalam pelepasan aset milik perusahaan Panca Wira Usaha Jawa Timur. (2). Terdapat perbedaan pembingkaian antara Harian Jawa Pos dan Tempo dalam menyajikan berita tentang kasus Dahlan Iskan terkait kasus pelepasan aset PWU Jawa Timur. Kata Kunci: Analisi Pembingkaian, Berita, Dahlan Iskan, Surat Kabar

Abstract

The development of technology makes online media get a greater portion of readers than print media that were first born. Online media that rely on speed often violate journalistic code of ethics so it should be reviewed so that there is an improvement. This study aims to look at the quality of news on Regional Election (Pilkada) on Malangvoice.com. This study uses a qualitative method. The data source in this research are the news in Malangvoice.com online mass media related to Malang City Election News which was taken in June 2018. This media was chosen because it is one of the most widely read media in Malang Raya. The set of analysis units amounted to 15 Pilkada news in the voting month, namely June 2018. The news quality theory used in this study is in accordance with the Journalistic Code of Ethics, namely accuracy, balance, objectivity, concise, and actual. The results showed Malang Voice has advantages in the field of technical quality such as writing, the object of reporting, brevity and actuality. But Malang Voice has weaknesses in the quality of news content such as accuracy, objectivity and balance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of gender equality contained in the Kartini film through the semiotic study of Roland Barthes. Roland Barthes's analysis is used to find out the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth in an image contained in artistic visualization, act, and dialogue in the film "Kartini". The results of this study that the connotation meaning of the Kartini film in the perspective of gender equality is an effort to fight for gender equality by Kartini as a woman who likes to write and teach literacy to others while denotative meaningthe effort to fight for gender equality in Kartini's film is that Kartini struggles through the path of literacy because literacy is a good way to fight for gender equality, with literacy she breaks Javanese culture which considers women unequal to men andhave abilities below men.Keywords: Semiotics, Kartini, Gender equality. Keywords—: Semiotics; Kartini; Gender Equality.

Abstract

Abstract: Social Media aims to provide convenience in terms of communicating that have an impact on both the perception of the positive or negative perceptions. Tik Tok is one of the new social media where each user can create, share videos and interact directly with the comments column or private chat. The purpose of this study to determine how perceptions of university students in the use of applications Tribhuwana Tunggadewi Tik Tok influenced by internal and external factors in shaping a perception. This research is qualitative research. Determination of informants using purposive sampling and stratified sampling with 19 informants. With the results of perception studies Tribhuwana Tunggadewi Malang University students in the use of application Tik Tok positive perceptions are formed based on the benefits provided and the negative perception of where Tik Tok not provide benefits to the users. Of positive and negative perceptions there are factors that affect the perception that internally and externally of individual users. Keywords: Social Media, Perception, Tik Tok Abstrak: Media sosial bertujuan untuk memberikan kemudahan dalam hal berkomunikasi sehingga memiliki dampak bagi pengguna baik itu persepsi positif atau persepsi negatif. Tik Tok merupakan  salah media sosial baru dimana setiap pengguna bisa membuat, berbagi video serta berinteraksi secara langsung melalui kolom komentar maupun chat pribadi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi mahasiswa universitas tribhuwana tunggadewi dalam penggunaan aplikasi Tik Tok yang dipengaruhi oleh  faktor internal dan eksternal dalam membentuk sebuah persepsi. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penentuan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan stratified sampling dengan 19 orang informan. Dengan hasil penelitian persepsi mahasiswa Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi Malang dalam  penggunaan aplikasi Tik Tok yaitu persepsi positif yang terbentuk berdasarkan manfaat yang diberikan dan persepsi negatif dimana Tik Tok tidak memberikan manfaat bagi pengguna. Dari persepsi positif dan negatif terdapat faktor yang memengaruhi persepsi yaitu secara internal dan eksternal dari individu penggunanya. Kata Kunci : Media Sosial, Persepsi, Tik Tok
