Abstract

Purpose: This community service aimed to train fish farmers in Sorong City to produce artificial feed containing 30% feed protein . Methods: The methods implemented were lectures and direct practice of making fish diets. Pearson square method was used for the feed formulation. Results: The output of this dedication activity increased the knowledge and expertise of fish farmers to make fish feed independently so that farmers can save operational costs in farming activities. Conclusions: This activity was attended by 10 participants and all participants could understand the concept of the training and be able to make artificial fish feed independently. Abstract

Ulasan ini mencoba memperkenalkan dan manfaat jasad renik copepoda untuk domain manusia. Perannya sebagai basal kehidupan akuatik dan taksa vertebrata lainnya sering dilupakan, pada ulasan ini pula akan mengenalkan jasanya pada akuakultur. Copepoda digolongkan dalam Phylum Crustacean, yang berukuran sangat kecil sekitar 60-200 μm. Copepoda menghuni hampir setiap lapisan perairan dari permukaan sampai dasar lautan. Jasad renik ini dijadikan sebagai indikator kesuburan perairan, juga sebagai konsumen tingkat pertama yang memberikan gizi berupa EPA dan DHA pada setiap jenis biota perairan. Sejarah manusia pertama kali mengenal copepoda pasca kesuksesan ekspedisi Challenger 1872-1876. Kepedulian kita dalam mengenal spesies ini berarti telah membantu dalam mewujudkan keseimbangan ekosistem. Atas dasar kepedulian dan untuk keseimbangan alam dan lingkungan, maka multi institusional yang bergerak dalam domain akuakultur telah mengoleksi dan mengembangbiakkan satu sub spesies dari copepoda ini di dalam sebuah bak terkontrol, dan dijadikan sebagai sumber pakan alami larva kultivan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh hormon ovaprim dan hipofisa terhadap masa laten pemijahan, fekunditas, periode penetasan telur, derajat telur yang menetas dan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan lele. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan yaitu perlakuan pemijahan secara alami, penggunaan hormon ovaprim dan kelenjar hipofisa. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari satu pasang induk yang telah matang gonad. Masa laten pemijahan tercepat diperoleh pada perlakuan pemijahan injeksi hormon ovaprim yaitu 8 jam, diikuti injeksi kelenjar hipofisa 9,25 jam dan pemijahan alami yaitu 10 jam. Jumlah telur yang dihasilkan pada perlakuan injeksi hormon ovaprim sebesar 6.542 butir, hipofisa sebesar 6.292,75 butir dan alami sebesar 4.862,25 butir. Periode penetasan telur dan derajat telur yang menetas yaitu sebesar 23,27 jam dan 91,01% pada perlakuan injeksi hormon ovaprim, 23,25 jam dan 82,89% pada injeksi kelenjar hipofisa dan 28,25 jam dan 74,75 % pada pemijahan alami. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup larva hasil injeksi hormone ovaprim, hipofisa dan alami yaitu 94,57%, 90,91% dan 90,49%. Berdasarkan hasil perlakuan pemijahan menggunakan hormone sintesis dan ekstrak pituitary ikan mas berpengaruh terhadap masa laten pemijahan, fekunditas, periode penetasan, derajat penetasan telur namun tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kelangsungan hidup larva lele (p<0,05).

Abstract

Woton (Sterculia sp.) plant is an endemic plant of Papua and West Papua, Indonesia that has many benefits for the community. This research aims to examine the contents of proximate, amino acid, and antibacterial activity from the leaves extract of two plants namely Sterculia shilinglawii and Sterculia tragacantha. The sample of Sterculia sp. leaves are cleaned, dried, and milled. Then, its chemical composition, amino acid, and bacterial activity are analyzed using a standard procedure. The chemical composition was analyzed using standard AOAC, amino acid was examined using LCMS and antibacterial activity was analyzed using barrier zone against the bacteria that attack the fish. The research results showed that the chemical compositions of Sterculia sp. leaves are carbohydrates, protein, water, ash and fat. The main amino acid contents of woton (Sterculia sp.) leaves are L-Arginine, L-Valine, L-Proline, L-Alanine. Bacterial Test Results showed that woton (Sterculia sp.) leaves extract has intermediate inhibition response against V. algynoliticus. It has been concluded that Sterculia sp. leaves have the potential chemical content.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of differences addition of culture medium concentrations on the growth of microalgae type Chlorella sp. Samples were obtained from the Center for Brackish Water Cultivation Fisheries (BBPBAP), Jepara. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Natural Feed Sorong Marine and Fisheries Polytechnic with an experimental method using four treatments with addition of walne medium, there were A (adding only at the beginning of cultivation); treatment B (adding every day); C (adding every two days), and treatment; D (adding every three days). The cell growth performance was significantly found in treatment C with the addition of nutrients every two days with a peak cell density of Chlorella sp was 2,628,450 cells / ml. There is a need for mass culture assay to determine the level of effectiveness and efficiency.

Abstract

Ikan tergolong bahan pangan yang perishable food. Ikan nila merupakan salah satu dari sekian banyak jenis ikan air tawar yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Teknik penanganan dalam mematikan ikan berpengaruh terhadap mutu ikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui teknik mematikan ikan yang terbaik dalam mempertahankan mutu ikan nila. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 9 – 11 Juni 2022. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Instalasi Budidaya Air Tawar (IBAT) Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Sorong. Sampel ikan nila yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 9 ekor dengan rata-rata berat ikan 150 gram/ekor. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian kali ini adalah eksperimental dengan teknik analisis deskriptif melalui pengujian organoleptik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan perlakuan dalam mematikan ikan nila berpengaruh terhadap lamanya ikan mencapai fase post rigor. Kemunduran mutu ikan terbaik (hingga fase rigor mortis) secara berturut-turut diperoleh pada perlakuan dimatikan dengan ditusuk pada medulla oblongata (45 jam), dibiarkan mati tanpa perlakuan (24 jam) dan dipukul dengan benda tumpul (7 jam). Pengujian secara scoring dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui tingkat penerimaan (limit of acceptability)

Abstract

This activity aims to assist and provide training to the Victor Jaya fishing group community about the diversification of Anchovy fish in order to increase its economic value. This activity comprised 25 people, including 11 fishermen, 3 entrepreneurs, and 11 fisherman's wives, In the manufacture of anchovy sauce, raw materials are red chili, garlic, shallots, shrimp paste and dried puri fish. The method of implementation is through training and direct practical assistance. People have different tastes in spicy chili products, according to the training findings, with 54 percent preferring extremely spicy, 33 percent preferring spicy, and 8% preferring not spicy. The outcomes of the chili processing training, on the other hand, produced a tasty product that can be preserved for a long time and is well received by the general public.

Abstract

The coconut crab population in the wild has decreased from year to year due to overfishing. One of the purposes of catching is other than for consumption and trading activities in local, national and international markets. On October 19, 2021, the sale of coconut crabs to foreign countries in Malaysia and Hong Kong was prevented by the Sorong City Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA), which at that time was at the Sorong City DEO Airport. The purpose of this activity is to educate the care, maintenance of the coconut crabs that are safe, as well as education of walnut crabs before being released back into the wild. The method of activity in maintaining cocomut crabs is by releasing the coconut crabs in the tub/pond by giving a little ±2 cm of water, then being given shelter, and feeding is done 2 times, in the morning and in the afternoon. Before being released into the wild, the BKSDA conducted socialization to traditional leaders, village heads, heads of marine and fisheries services and the community about the ecosystem and the benefits and status of coconut crabs. The results of the maintenance activities showed that the coconut crabs were in good health and ready to be released into the wild and the community was starting to realize the existence of the coconut crab ecosystem.
