Abstract

Introduction: Value coaching is an inseparable part of education, which can be a powerful means of warding off negative influences in the globalization era. Main objectives: Regarding the importance of value coaching, this study aims to describe Kiai's leadership program in building a value system in Islamic boarding schools (IBS). Background problems: The study was also conducted in response to the existing symptom among young people that shows their ignorance of values and morals in social manners. Novelty: The study on  Kiai’s program is intended to cover a value system based on transcendent values in instilling the students’ values. Research Method: This research used a qualitative method, and the research subjects consisted of Kiai, Ustadz (teacher), and Santri (students). The data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were then validated by triangulation and processed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings: The results revealed that the role of the Kiai had designed the value system program from upstream to downstream for IBSs. Conclusion: It is concluded that the projection of Islamic boarding schools in the future is the idealism of the Kiai's thinking, which continues to change and develop in line with the development of the IBSs. Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Leadership is important in enabling a person and a nation to improve and advance.  Background Problems: Leadership is not something that everyone seeks, especially in youth. The youth leadership crisis can be seen from the lack of students who want to become chairpersons in university extracurricular activities. Novelty: This research makes a three-fold contribution. First, this study presents an analysis of the ‘Evolving Leadership Practices Assessment’ quizzes (Olson and Singer, 2004) distributed by the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson of the Library Science Student Association (IMASIP) the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia. Second, this study assesses the IMASIP FIB-UI Daily Management Board. This study also interviewed five informants with 12 closed-ended questions. Research Methods: This paper assesses youth leadership by using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, with a case study approach.  Finding/Results: Our result shows and supports the assumption that age and years of leadership will affect the scores obtained at IMASIP, which further research must examine. This research also suggests that the Daily Management Board's performance can be maintained by connection, contribution, and collaboration. Conclusion: The results identify efforts to build and improve leadership among students, including developing and increasing seminars and training in leadership to prepare students who have a role as the successors of the nation’s leadership.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to depict the scientific landscape for the innovation policy mix (IPM) from 2012 to 2019 since its re-conceptualization by Flanagan, Uyarra, and Laranja (2011).Background Problems: The seminal work has broadened policy mix thinking with social issues impacting innovation. Since every organization is part of the innovation policy system, this study takes the first step to introduce IPM into management fields by identifying and discussing subsequent works in research trajectories.Novelty: This study shows the remarkable progress toward a mature concept through IPM’s definition, characteristics, and boundaries. As a new string of interdisciplinary social science research, some opportunities and challenges are revealed, allowing future studies to be conducted in more theoretically sounding research traditions.Research Methods: This study applies systematic literature network analysis (SLNA) relying on objective measures from keyword co-occurrences and co-citations networks. It includes 60 articles analyzed using open-source software, i.e., Publish or Perish, Google Scholar database, VOSviewer, and the web-based Local Citation Network.Finding/Results: There are three clusters in the main path of research trajectories, i.e., IPM’s conceptualization, its characteristics for evaluation and measurement, and contextualization. Future research directions are proposed to advance our understanding of the organizational environment and its impact on innovation. Conclusion: IPM studies have opened opportunities to test and extend theories in strategic management and organization studies, especially for leaders who make decisions in the face of dynamic and demanding environments. Moreover, contextualization in developing countries would be a worthwhile exercise by considering the institutional and cultural context.

Abstract

Introduction: Natural disasters is one of the real threats which cause the loss of life, property, and refugees. Background Problems: The role of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in natural disaster management becomes an interesting thing to study when natural disasters occur in Indonesia. Novelty: This article reveals the analysis result of the implementation of TNI’s principles in disaster management, especially in the following regions: Palu, Sigi and Donggala (Pasigala), Central Sulawesi Province. Research Methods: The research was conducted using qualitative research methods. The collected data was analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. Finding/Results: Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the role of TNI’s leadership style was very prominent to fill the vacancies of Regional Leaders in certain areas experiencing disaster. The support of TNI personnel in natural disaster management cannot be separated from the implementation of 11 TNI leadership principles, which consist of: Takwa, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tulada, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa, Tut Wuri Handayani, Waspada Purba Wisesa, Ambeg Parama Arta, Prasaja, Satya, Gemi Nastiti, Belaka, and Legawa. The application of these principles can be seen in emergency response situations, where TNI plays an important role, in which their instructions were conformed by the community. In disaster mitigations, they evacuated victims, rebuilt worship places, looked around for logistical sources for the community, were incharged for possible criminal actions, such as eradicated looting acts, arrested the perpetrators and handed them to the local Police. Thus, it can be said that the leadership of TNI has succeeded in handling natural disasters in Pasigala, Central Sulawesi. It can be then recommended that the Indonesian Government and stakeholders should improve the quality of training and education for leadership and disaster management by implementing the leadership principles of TNI, as well as synergizing with TNI in disaster management
