Abstract

An analysis of the impact of technology-enhanced video feedback and peer evaluation on gymnastic performance in a MYP IB Physical Education class. A 5-step inquiry action research framework was employed; following the triangulation approach, both qualitative and quantitative data was collected to substantiate the findings. This study evidenced that peer feedback enhanced gymnastics performance, and that peer feedback when coupled with video analysis, further saw bolstered improvements. Suggesting both methods have a place in physical education, if conducted in the right manner. Adept use of appropriate technological tools would foster heightened intrinsic motivation and differentiated learning engagement.

Abstract

Coronavirus known as COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that affects people worldwide. Malaysia was also affected by this virus; therefore, the government announced the Movement Control Order (MCO) to break the COVID-19 chain. MCO possibly affects quality of life of working people. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare the effect of MCO on quality of life between academic and administrative staff in Faculty of Sport Science and Recreation, UiTM Shah Alam. This study utilised causal – comparative research design involved academic and administrative staff. The sample analysed were N=52 comprised of 30 academic and 22 administrative staff. This study used SF-36 questionnaire to measure quality of life. Data was collected via online. T-test was used to identify the differences between the two groups. Academic staff quality of score was (M=56.90 ± 6.97) and administrative staff was (M=59.7 ± 7.54) score. The findings reported that there is no significant difference in quality of life, p = 0.669 between academic and administrative staff during MCO. Quality of life for both academic and administrative staff was affected during MCO due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of gross motor development of children aged eight to ten years involved in individual (I) and team (T) sports by using the Tests of Gross Motor Development-2 (TGMD-2) method. This study is an ex-post factor involving 360 children in their early schooling stages (M = 180, F = 180). The study involved 2 types of sports: individually (Athletics = 60, Badminton = 60, Taekwondo = 60) and team (Handball = 60, Hockey = 60, Basketball = 60). Descriptive analysis has shown the level of performance for individual sports AEL (M = 8.24, SD = 1.02, DR = Average), AEM (M = 7.16, SD = 0.92, DR = Below Average) and GMDQ (M = 87.87, SD = 5.4, DR = Below Average). For team sports, the age equivalence levels of AEL (M = 8.05, SD = 1.23, DR = Average), AEM (M = 7.84, SD = 1.07, DR = Below Average) and GMDQ (M = 90.02, SD = 6.57, DR = Below Average). There was a significant difference for individual and team sports on the AEL score t (358) = 1.64, p = 0.00. While there was no significant difference for individual and team sports on the AEM score t (358) =-6.45, p = 0.27 and GMDQ t (358) =-3.39, p = 0.06. MANOVA analysis showed that there were significant differences for AEL, AEM and GMDQ scores for athletics, badminton, taekwondo, handball, hockey, and basketball with [F (15,972.12) = 11.82, p <0.001, eta squared = 0.14]. Individual sport types had an AEL age delay of -1.27 years and an AEM of -2.15 years in contrast to team sports with an AEL age delay of -1.25 years and an AEM of only -1.37 years. ANCOVA analysis showed that gender and age could influence the level of gross motor development of individual and team sports. Implementing the gross motor development test provides knowledge and information to teachers and coaches to know athletes’ gross motor acquisition. Teachers and coaches could also design a training program to help athletes strengthen their gross motor development and improve their athletic performance.

Abstract

This study aims to help provide references aimed at athletic lecturers and students as well as the general public regarding basic technical materials (Bunch Start, Medium Start, Long Start) contained in the compulsory courses in every Health and Recreation Physical Education study program in the form of a technical manual. basic start. The method in this research uses the method of research and development or Research and Development (R & D). This research was conducted in several steps, namely: identification of potentials and problems, information gathering, product design, product manufacture, expert validation, product revision, testing, final production. The research subjects were in a small group of 10 people consisting of 1 trainer, 1 athletic lecturer and 8 students who took basic athletic skills courses and the field trials used 20 people consisting of 2 trainers, 2 lecturers and 16 STOK Bina Guna students. The data collection technique used in this study was an instrument in the form of an assessment sheet. The data analysis technique of this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The result of the percentage of this research is the Media Expert of 94.44%, and the eligibility percentage of the Material Expert is 98.5%. Based on the small group trial, it was found that the percentage of calibration was 84.9% and the field trial was 89.85%. This medium is feasible.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Circuit Training training and beetroot giving to the improvement of endurance abilities in karate athletes. This research method using experimental methods. Population and sample were 10 athletes of Karate Dojo at SMA PAB 4 Sampali who were obtained by total sampling technique, then divided into two groups using matching pairing techniques, namely the Circuit Training training group and giving beets and without giving beets (control group). The research instrument for data collection using tests and measurements, namely the Bleeb test endurance test. The first hypothesis 0.120> 0.05, Ha is rejected, meaning that the first hypothesis Ho is accepted, there is no significant effect of Circuit Training training and Beetroot Training on the increase in athlete's endurance. The second hypothesis 0.183> 0.05, Ha is rejected, meaning that the conclusion of the second hypothesis Ho is accepted there is no significant effect of Circuit Training without giving beet fruit (control group) on the increase in athlete's endurance. The third hypothesis shows that the Sig. 0.757> 0.05, then Ha is rejected, that is, there is no significant difference between the average value of the post-training circuit training and the giving of beets between the experimental group without giving beets (control group).

Abstract

Ankle sprains are common injuries in various sports. It has happened 54- 66.9% occur in badminton players. This study design used review articles study. A literature search was conducted systematically using ACSM, AJSM, BJSM, OJSM, and human sport and exercise databases to retrieve articles published until December 2013. Controlled trials and controlled laboratory studies comparing different strategies to promote early recovery of ankle sprain were included. There are limited studies on the balance training program and ankle sprain. Five control and treatment study were reviewed. The study reported that balance training programs significantly reduce ankle sprains. The Balance training program can be applied to reduce the risk of ankle sprains in badminton players.

Abstract

Fitspiration content on social media has been popularized over the last few years, with the intention to influence users to lead healthy and fit lifestyles. The present study aimed to identify the impact of fitspiration content on social media among young adult followers in Singapore. Method: Participants were 124 university students in Singapore who completed a cross-sectional survey. The survey included 16 multiple choice questions, 4 short-answer questions and 8 open-ended questions. Descriptive statistics was adopted for quantitative data and content analysis was utilized for qualitative data. The perceived impact of fitspiration content was explained through three themes: 1) Positive impact of fitspiration content on social media, 2) Negative impact of fitspiration content on social media, and 3) Perceived impact of social media on self. Three other themes were also developed for understanding the conditions influenced by fitspiration content on social media: 1) Evaluation and satisfaction with one’s fitness journey, 2) Motivational levels of participants, and 3) Diet restrictions. Results showed that positive impact were experienced by the majority of the participants, whereas some participants experienced negative impacts. It was concluded that fitspiration content on social media does inspire users to become a better version of themselves both physically and mentally. However, it is also dependent on the perceptions of the users and the extent to which they allowed such content to influence them.

Abstract

Long distance running (LDR) is an exercise that has a relatively heavy load which can cause Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and increase Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) levels. Xanthine, one derivate of ROS will increase 10 times during aerobic activity which is metabolized to Uric Acid (mg/dL) (UA). Foam rolling (FR) is used for the recovery process. This study aims to determine the effect of long distance running on changes in UA levels and the effect of FR as an active recovery against changes in UA levels. This was a quasi-experiment study using a purposive sampling design, one-group repeated measure design of a sample population of young healthy males (17-25 years). The sample consisted of 10 trained young males in Semarang. The average value of UA before intervention was 4.43 mg/dL ± 0.51. In 90 minutes, it was 5.90 mg/dL ± 0.52, in 120 minutes was 5.71 mg/dL ± 0.72 and at 24 hours after intervention was 6.1 mg/dL ± 0.57. LDR has been shown to increase UA levels. FR which is done only once has not been able to reduce UA levels. The percentage of occurrence of post-LDR DOMS occurred at 24 hours.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the relationship between speed reaction, explosive power of muscle arm, and hand-eye coordination of smash skills of the students of STOK Binaguna Medan. The research method used is a survey method with correlational analysis technique. This study used total sampling, in which all the population was taken as the sample, as the sampling technique. The number of the sample was 35 people. The research shows (1) there is a relationship between speed reaction with smash skill of the students of STOK Binaguna Medan as shown by t obtained = 2.58> t table = 1.70. (2) there is a relationship between explosive power of muscle arm with smash skill of the students of STOK Binaguna Medan, as shown by t obtained = 2.74> t table = 1.70. (3) there is a relationship between hand-eye coordination with smash skill of the students of STOK Binaguna Medan, as shown by t obtained = 3.06> t table = 1.70. (4) there is a relationship between speed reaction, explosive power of muscle arm, and hand-eye coordination toward smash skill of the students of STOK Binaguna Medan, as shown by F obtained = 2.91> F table = 2.91.

Abstract

Outdoor Education (OE) is usually associated with challenging activities and developing skills among students. It also teaches learning through the interaction with the nature world which helps to educate for environmental appreciation. Is the frequency of involvement can determine the appreciation among its participants? So, the objectives of this study are to identify the involvement of outdoor activities, its enjoyment of participation and its relationship with nature appreciation among undergraduate students in a higher learning institution in Malaysia. One hundred and sixty-nine (n=169) students who participated in this study were from a Physical and Health Education Program. Results from the study indicated high levels of participation with much pleasure from diverse outdoor activities in water and land based. Pearson’s correlation analysis was performed between each type of water and land-based activity with nature appreciation. Analyses were found to have significant relation of several activities with nature appreciation. Findings indicated a significant but weak relationship between the overall activities and nature appreciation among the students. It was suggested that integrating together new area of studies related to mother nature should be incorporated during the activities.
