Abstract

Digital transformation is changing teacher competencies that students need to succeed. It is increasingly important for teachers to develop their digital maturity in this context proactively. The emerging research on teacher digital maturity development has largely ignored the possible role of teachers' perceptions of large-scale changes in mathematics teaching using technology, especially in geometry learning. Several studies have explored digital video technology in geometry learning as a supporting tool for teachers' digital maturity in mathematics teacher education. Previously, usually limited visibility in teaching to the production of static images and film clips of educational orientation, then with the advent of dynamic geometric systems, the pedagogical community gained movement as a new publicly available means of teaching mathematics of teacher digital maturity in geometry learning. We did the survey using keywords related to geometry learning and digital technology. We have surveyed several pre-service Mathematics Teachers on geometry learning. The analyzed papers have provided insight into maturity model dimensions were extracted and consolidated into a maturity model framework. The consolidated maturity model framework consisted of five stages: initial, managed, defined, predictable, and optimizing. The results show core competencies in digital maturity level, namely integrating digital technology in teaching processes (optimizing level), adjusting and applying different teaching methods (optimizing level), developing a standard model for digital teaching abilities (optimizing level), establishing effective assessment items and models for assessing digital teaching abilities (predictable level), and setting paradigms for outstanding teaching abilities (predictable level).

Abstract

Numerical methods are a course that studies mathematical problem solving in a systematic way using numbers. Students still have obstacles in learning numerical methods. These obstacles occur in the mental preparation of students in attending lectures, the lecture process carried out by lecturers and students' academic abilities. The purpose of this study is to describe the creative thinking process of students based on the Wallas stage. The method used is qualitative. respondents are students of prospective mathematics teachers. The data was obtained by testing the ability to think creatively. The test results were analyzed by looking at the creative thinking process according to Wallas, namely preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. Furthermore, an analysis of test answers and in-depth interviews was carried out based on student learning barriers based on the obstacles faced. Interviews were conducted to students who have high, medium and low learning barriers. In general, students have obstacles in the creative thinking process, namely students only use the method of completion without understanding its meaning. This happens because students do not understand the concept well. As a result, students will not be able to solve problems from the lecturer properly if the form or illustration of the questions is changed.

Abstract

Teachers usually use literary texts in their English classes. They use such materials to teach reading comprehension but rarely combine them with writing. It is a big challenge for teachers to integrate reading and writing activities in the English classroom. Such action is demanding on the one hand, but it is challenging on the other hand. It is appealing because the teachers will burden much checking the students' reading comprehension and their response writing. It is challenging for teachers and students since it integrates reading and writing. This research was done in the context of English as a foreign language, where one hundred and twenty students of the "Literary Appreciation" course at the English Department of a private university in Semarang in 2020. In this research, we examined the students' attitudes toward applying imaginative re-creation in teaching English using short stories. Having done reading comprehension activities, the students wrote texts based on the short story they were assigned to read. The activity is called imaginative re-creation. At the end of the semester, a hundred and twenty students were involved in this research. Only forty-five students responded to the questionnaires. The questionnaires provided ten questions concerning the attitude toward applying imaginative re-creation. The results showed that the index is 3.7 indicating a strong attitude toward applying imaginative re-creation. From the findings, it can be concluded that most students had strong attitudes toward using literary text in English teaching, even though teachers should be aware of the problem that might arise during the implementation of the task.

Abstract

Sinau Bareng with Cak Nun and Kiai Kanjeng (CNKK), an interesting phenomenon when Sinau Bareng activity with CNKK on 41177 editions in Batu Malang City, there was a Transgender attending the recitation, it was very rare, the authors are interested in dissecting it using a diversity perspective. Cak Nun responded to Mirel phenomenon that he has gave the congregations with attitude of a verse in Qur’an; ya ayyuhan naas inna kholaqnakum min dzakarin wa untsa wa ja’alanakum syu’uban wa qabaaila lita’arafuu, that Allah created humans with male and female potential. As stated in the verse; zakarin (manlike), not mudzakkarin (male). According to the author, the value taken from the events of Sinau Bareng with Cak Nun and Kiai Kanjeng 4117 editions in Batu Malang, is that we should not consider and discriminate other people or humans by assuming that we are superior to others. The analysis of diversity and social studies is that the Sinau Bareng activity with Cak Nun and Kiai Kanjeng (CNKK) accommodates the substantive of diversity value; from a humanitarian point of view. The conclusions of quantitative and qualitative social analysis, that; Malang Community – Mirel (Transgender) = Negative (Does not accommodate Diversity) CNKK - Jamaah Maiyah (recitation) = Positive interaction (accommodates diversity) with members from various backgrounds and social statuses. Mirel – Environment = Positive Interaction (planting orchids and releasing shrimp in the river, able to preserve the environment). CNKK - Mirel = Positive Interaction (accept Mirel As a human being that the same as other).

Abstract

One thing that needs to be considered in the thinking process is the ability to make decisions. Decision-making includes probabilistic thinking. Decision-making is usually done after going through a series of processes. This study discusses how mathematics student decision-making is based on self-efficacy in probabilistic thinking. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The validity of research data with triangulation techniques. The results show that decision-making in probabilistic thinking requires a series of processes, namely understanding the problem, having initial intuition, choosing the right strategy, doing numeracy, then evaluating, and then making a decision. For subjects who have high self-efficacy, the subject makes decisions that fulfill all the elements in decision making. Subjects with self-efficacy are in the decision-making process, the use of numerical concepts is still not right, but the other elements have been met. For subjects with low self-efficacy abilities, they are still less precise in initial intuition, numeration, and final evaluation so the decision making is still not right.
