AbstractMost of the farmers in Sumbersewu Village of Banyuwangi Regency are Muslim and Hindu. The local people still uphold the Javanese culture that has been passed down by their ancestors. One of them is the methik ritual. The methik ritual ceremony is a process done at the time of harvesting agricultural produce. The procession of methik ritual have several stages such as determining the good day, preparing the offerings, afterwards to the place of execution that can be at the rice field or at home, after that begins with the reading of prayers or mantras performed by elders or shaman and ends with eating together. Abstract

AbstractThe city center is often regarded as a dense settlement structure and full of various interests. In Indonesia, thedensity of occupation also caused various types of migrants from the region to color the urban culture. in fact, various traditional cultures also affect the inhabitants of the city so tha t the term kampung town appears. Theprocess of agglomeration and urbanization that occurred in the city of Jember also affected villages in the citycenter, one of which was Osing Village which was a (melting pot). The characteristics of the residents who livein this village are mostly Javanese and Madurese, this ethnic difference can lead to an interaction betweenvillage residents in the form of adjustment, competition, and tension. The purpose of this study is to describe thepattern of neighboring rel ationships in urban communities. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study show that the relationship pattern of neighboring communities living in Kampung Osingcan be identified by the joint activities they undertake. Th e characteristics of the people of Kampung Osing arediverse, and live in densely populated settlements. This makes them experience changes in social life. Suchchanges are like the emergence of social stratification formed by the existence of differences in socio economicstatus both high, medium and low which are influenced by wealth ownership, employment, and educationalattainment which ultimately affects the pattern of interactions that occur. On the other hand, the lack of spacemakes the occupying co mmunity experience the configuration of private space into public spaces and publicspaces into private spaces. The neighbor relationship pattern that occurs because of crowded housing andinconvenience makes people experience "dissatisfaction" caused by t he absence of standard regulations aroundthe local environment such as the absence of a prohibition on parking vehicles in a narrow alley. In addition, they also built several social networks that were influenced by, place factors, social status factors a nd thecommon area of origin. Keywords:n eighbourhood r elations , s pace c onfiguration, s ocial s tratification

Abstract

A b s t r a ctUnited Nations (UN), as an international organization, has copious purposes and programs which are devoted to developing the world and providing better lives for people throughout the globe. Some of the programs initiated by the organization are Milennium Development Goal’s (MDG’S) and Sustainable Development Goal’s (SDG). In optimizing various programs that they set up, particularly development programs, United Nations assigned ambassadors who were responsible in introducing the programs to the whole world. Those ambassadors were elected from public figures known as Goodwill Ambassadors. In addition to electing ambassadors from real figures, United Nations also had evoked animated figures as the ambassadors. This scientific article was aimed at discovering the reasons backgrounding United Nations’ decision on assigning animation figures as the ambassadors. Obtained from literature study by sourcing books, scientific journals, articles, and internet websites, research data scrutinized in the study were secondary in nature and analyzed by persuasive propaganda concept coupled with qualitative analysis. Research results indicated that the reasons behind United Nations’ decision in choosing animation figures as the ambassadors were meant to be a for of persuasive propaganda by involving animation figures possessing tremendous popularity in the world. In addition, the inclusion of three animation figures was cushioned by the aptness of chosen animation figures to particular mission that United Nations carried out and the fact that children throughout the globe were the main target, as well as the extent to which these characters were popular.Ke y w o r d s fic t i o n an im a ti o n f i gu r es, mile nn i u m d e v el op me n t t h e a m ba ss a d o r s o f U n ited N a ti on s

Abstract

AbstractBatik industry is a very potential industry to be developed. In batik industry, stamp batik production gives a positive contribution. Apart from the economic side, it is undeniable that the existence of stamp batik production is getting bigger. Many new batik industries grow in Banyuwangi. Therefore, this condition has encouraged Pringgokusumo Batik Small Business to maintain the existence of its batik company to survive and develop by increasing its production, especially in the implementation of stamp batik production process. Moreover, the consumers increasingly demand the stamp batik products. This descriptive research employed a qualitative approach which aims to describe the Implementation of Production Process in Pringgokusumo Batik Small Business. Key informant in this research was determined purposively. Research data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. Then, the data were analyzed by using domain and taxonomy analyses. To test data validity, researchers used triangulation of source, technique, and time; so that, the data obtained were valid. The findings indicated that Pringgokusumo Batik Small Business has been able to minimize the number of defective batik products that occurred due to irrelevance on each stage of the production process. The production of stamp batik every year was still stable, even though the target of production every year was still not achieved. One of them was due to the limited availability of labors in the stamp batik department. Keywords: Production process, Stamp Batik

Abstract

AbstractThe concession on The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (The New START) on April 8th 2010 in Praha denoted a new round in resetting the relationship between The United States of America and Russia. The New START treaty, which is officially named Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms, is a treaty enacted and backgrounded by the awareness of nuclear weapon danger, which eventually calls for weaponry control between The United States of America and Russia, particularly in the realm of strategic nuclear weapon. The very treaty constitutes the continuation of the former treaty regime, START I treaty and Moscow Treaty (SORT). As such, this treaty aims at two main similar objectives, pertinent to the reduction of strategic nuclear weapon (disarmament) and supervision as well as verification. The New START treaty is expected to be the successor of the former regime. This scientific paper delves into discussing the effectiveness of The New START treaty in supervising and reducing the ownership of strategic nuclear weapon. Data in the present study were obtained from literature study. Obtained data were then analyzed using effectiveness theory of international regime, proposed by Arild Underdal. The research finding corroborated the effectiveness of The New START treaty, as evinced by independent and dependent variables, which were both fulfilled and positive. The regime of The New START treaty can bring The United States of America and Russia together so as to bring down the ownership of strategic nuclear weapon and implement regulations concerning supervision and verification issues as stipulated in the treaty. It even can encourage the other Nuclear Weapon States (NWS) to reduce their armory, apply transparency, and empower NPT regime.Ke y w o r d s i n tern a ti ona l re g ime s t r a te g ic nu cle a r a r m o r y, d i s a r m a me n t, an d t r an sp a r e n c y
