Abstract

The aim of this study are to develop, exam the feasibility, describe the characteristic, and test the student understanding integrated science learning material for Junior High School Student. The theme are developed from volcanic eruption phenomena, which integrated earth science, physics, biology, and social science. The Research and development methode was use to develop integrated science learning material, then captioned “Belajar Sains Melalui Fenomena Erupsi Gunung Api” by Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4STMD). The steps of 4STMD are consist selection, structuring, characterization, and didactical reduction step. Based on the feasibility test, these learning material is qualified in content presetation, language, and graphic feasbility aspects. The characteristic of these learning materials describe that have easy concepts. Based on the understanding test result, the learning material is qualified on good category. It can be conclued that the learning material qualified to be used as supplement learning material of science learning.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the availability of the internet facility, access, and internet usage in general as well as in learning physics among high school students in Lampung, Indonesia. The study also assessed students’ internet self-efficacy and perception of the internet in learning physics. A number of 1883 students, which consists of 700 males and 1183 females, participated in this descriptive study. A questionnaire consisted of 30 items was implemented in this study. The results showed that most students have internet facilities and nearly all of them have internet access through mobile phones. The majority of students had used the internet for more than or equal to three years (78.1%). In using the internet, students have two main reasons, for academic purposes (90.3%) and for social media activities (89.5%). Majority of internet service used in physics was to solving homework (78.5%). The study also revealed that students’ internet self-efficacy and perception for learning physics were in “high” and “positive” category, respectively. These results imply that the students’ internet facilities, access, experience, and self-efficacy are categorized high. Therefore, the integration of internet in teaching physics at high school in Lampung is adequately potential.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of social skills on children's independence. The research method is a survey that explains the causal relationship between path analysis and a quantitative approach. In the study found that there is a significant relationship between Social Skills with Independence. The closeness of the relationship between interpersonal and Independence is reinforced by the results of testing the hypothesis that there is a positive direct effect of Interpersonal Intelligence on Independence. The results showed there was a direct influence of Social Skills on the Independence of kindergarten children. Hypothesis testing results indicate the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus it can be interpreted that there is a significant direct effect of Social Skills on the Independence of Kindergarten children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) differences in learning activities between students who use MySQL and students who use Ms. Access on subjects in Database Processing with basic competencies in understanding language in class XI of the RPL Department of SMK 2 Surabaya; (2) differences in learning outcomes between students who use MySQL and students using Ms. Access on Database subjects with basic competencies in understanding language in class XI of the RPL Department of SMK 2 Surabaya.The research design used was a "non -equivalent control group design" design which involved two classes, namely XI RPL1as an experimental class with a total sample of 33 students and class XI RPL-2 as a control class with a total sample of 34 students. The place of research was conducted at SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya. The study found that: (1) learning activities for students who studied using MySQL applications were significantly higher than the learning activities of students who studied using Ms. Access; and (2) learning outcomes for students who learn using MySQL applications are significantly higher than the learning outcomes of students who study using Ms. Access.

Abstract

Purpose: Student attitudes toward cultural values are needed in 21st century learning. Research with a focus on improving student attitudes towards cultural values using inquiry-based approaches. Therefore, this quasi-experimental quantitative research aims to improve student attitudes to the cultural values of elementary school teacher education students with an inquiry model assisted by the ethnoconstructivism module. Methodology: uses a quantitative design of quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Where the number of all samples from this study were 86 elementary school teacher education students taken by purposive sampling technique. The experimental group (n = 43) was taught with the inquiry learning model assisted by the ethnoconstructivism module, while the control group (n = 43) was taught using traditional teaching modul. The data were then analyzed using the SPSS 21 application to find descriptive statistics and inferential static. Findings: There was a significant difference in the attitude of students between the control class and the experimental class. It was found that using ethnoconstructivism inquiry models obtained differences with t-test values 18,473 on student attitudes. It can be underlined that the inquiry model with ethnoconstructivism has a significant influence on student attitudes towards cultural values compared to conventional groups

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of IS Success Model variable on Edmodo's e-learning user satisfaction partially, both directly and indirectly through the TAM variable. This research was conducted through an ex-post-facto approach to undergraduate students. Data collection instruments used questionnaire and observation. The questionnaire was developed from the technology acceptance model (TAM) and information system (IS) success model. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and path analysis using IBM SPSS 20 program. The results showed that the three core variables of the IS Success model directly had a significant effect on the two core variables of TAM, and the two core variables of TAM directly affected user satisfaction. Indirectly, the three core variables of IS Success model had a significant effect on user satisfaction through the two core variables of TAM. Service Quality, also, to provide a more significant direct effect on perceived usefulness, also indirectly influenced user satisfaction through perceived usefulness. Perceived ease of use had more significant direct and indirect effects through perceived usefulness on Edmodo e-learning user satisfaction.

Abstract

This descriptive-explanatory research determined the extent of utilization of ICT approaches in performing teaching-related tasks and self-assessment of multimedia authoring skills of 162 public elementary school teachers at Tanauan City North District, Philippines. Utilizing a researcher-made questionnaire in gathering the needed data and applying appropriate statistical tools, the results of the study revealed that the respondents highly utilized technology literacy approach, and utilized both knowledge deepening, and knowledge creation approaches in performing teaching-related tasks as they integrate technology into the curriculum, utilize spreadsheet in monitoring pupils’ learning progress, and use available ICT resources to help pupils acquire and demonstrate complex cognitive skills. The respondents were also found to be competent in media literacy, using music and arts, design principles, creativity and novel thinking, and considering audiences as components of multimedia authoring skills that was likely to be influenced by their utilization of ICT approaches as affirmed by the significant relationship identified between the two variables. This study calls for pedagogical innovations by capacitating public elementary school teachers with multi-media authoring skills through ICT-skill enhancement program.

Abstract

This study aims at improving learning activities and learning outcomes of cognitive aspects among X grade students of Metal Fabrication Engineering and Manufacturing, Vocational High School (VHS) using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. This study used classroom action research, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages, i.e. planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This study involved one collaborator to assist researchers in implementing PBL and to monitor the learning process. The data collection technique used observation method with checklist and rating scale instrument. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the PBL implementation method in ignition system learning improve the students’ learning activities with the percentage of 11.20%, the learning activities, in which 29 students were in very high category and 3 students with high category. Also, the learning outcomes of cognitive aspects getting higher to 5.32% consisting of remembering (86.87%), understanding (77.68%), applying (78.77%), analyzing (79.61%), evaluation (77.97%), and creating (79.16%) respectively. Moreover, the students’ learning outcomes raised of which 29 students (91.31%) achieved above the minimum completeness criteria. It means that the PBL model can be used by vocational high teachers as alternative learning process to improve their outcomes of the cognitive aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to find out if culture and school factors serve as predictors of mathematics teachers’ use of information and communication technology for instruction in secondary school. The sample for this study comprises 171 secondary schools’ teachers from 17 government-owned secondary schools in Ogun State, Nigeria. Data were collected through a questionnaire. The result shows that culture does not serve as a predictor of mathematics teachers’ use of ICT for teaching but school factors serve as a predictor of mathematics teachers’ use of ICT for teaching. It was also discovered that there was no significant relationship between culture and school factors as predictors of mathematics teachers’ use of ICT for teaching. Based on these findings, it was concluded that the obtainability of ICT facilities and other factors in school is important to mathematics teaching..

Abstract

This study aims to determine effectivenes Simplified Cirlce Arc method used at the school level to prevent discrimination against student grades. This study National Examination data on mathematics subjects from of the Center for Educational Assessment in DKI Jakarta and Tangerang regions. Using the Rasch Model analysis, data obtained for 2135 in the DKI Jakarta (X) and 2271 in the Tangerang area (Y). The data was obtained after conducting Rasch analysis with Mean Square Outfit (MNSQ) of 0.5 <MNSQ <1.5. Replication is done 50 times for each form data distribution from each region. Results of replication then RMSE value is calculated. The results showed that equal form with normal data distribution, statistically the average RMSE with the Simplified Circle Arc method smaller than the average RMSE result of equalization with the Nominal Weight Mean method which indicates that the Simplified Circle Arc method more accurate than Nominal Weight Mean method. Likewise, with equal equations with positive skeweness and negative skewness data distribution, the average RMSE with the Simplified Circle Arc Method is smaller than average RMSE resulting in equalization of the score with Nominal Weight Mean method. A small RMSE value indicates a fairly accurate result of equalization.
