The aim of this research was to figure out the principal’s management behavior in managing BOS fund at State Junior High Schools in Banda Aceh. This qualitative research was conducted by employing a descriptive method. The results showed that (1) the planning program was arranged at the b1eginning of each academic year by the school finance teams according to the results of discussions and meetings with the teachers, the members of school committee and the students’ parents. The results were written in the school work and budget planning by considering 8 educational system standards of Indonesia in order to decide the priority scales based on the available fund. In addition, (2) the implementation of this program began with coordination and socialization. Moreover, the implementation was in accordance with the technical guidance of BOS fund distributed by the Education Board of Banda Aceh Municipality. It was also found that (3) monitoring and was done by the teachers, members of school committee, the principals, the inspectorate, the team of BOS fund from each school, the municipality, and the province. The monitoring report was submitted to the Local Government Agency (SKPD) every three month period. Lastly, (4) the limitations, the delays, and the society’s misunderstanding related to BOS fund were the obstacles found in managing the BOS fund at the schools.Keywords: management, principal, school operational assistance (bos) fund

The objective of this research was to find out the principal’s planning in improving the performance of the guidance and counseling teachers at State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 17 Banda Aceh by observing the personality of each teacher. The data were collected by doing direct observation and interview with the principal, the vice-principal, the school supervisors, and the guidance and counseling teachers of State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 17 Banda Aceh. The sampling technique, the observation, and the interview in collecting the data was equipped with a list of questions that is able to find out the information related to the activity of supervising teachers done by the principal of State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 17 Banda Aceh. The results indicated that the guidance and counseling teachers, the principal and the staffs were involved in compiling the planning of guidance and counseling program. This involvement gave positive impact on the effectiveness of the program. In addition, the guidance and counseling teachers have showed good performance and mature personality. However, the strategies in improving the performance of guidance and counseling teachers such as providing a special room for guidance and counseling activities and scheduling guidance and counseling subject for each class should be more considered. Abstract[Z1] The implementation of the classroom action research greatly helps teachers in solving learning obstacles. The purposes of this study are to investigate: The purpose of this research is to get information about how to develop professional competence of teachers by the principal in the implementation of classroom action research at SMP Negeri 1 Mutiara. This study used thedescriptive qualitative method; data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation study; and research subjects were the school principal and the teachers. The data analysis was done by reducing the data and displaying the data. The results of this study showed that the principal had implemented: 1) programs that had been planned, that is, the preparation of an annual program and the semester program by involving all subject teachers; 2) the training of the classroom action research for teachers and reprimand the teachers who did not participate actively ; and 3) a follow-up activity by requiring teachers to partake Teacher Professional Development Networks(MGMPs) regularly with the expectation that the obstacles encountered in training activities can overcome and guide the teacher wisely, that is, by reprimanding well, directing, and developing teachers who have problems with professional competence in conducting action research so that the ability to make reports of the classroom action research is successful.Keywords : Teacher Professioanl Development and Research Action Class [Z1]Abstrak terlalu panjang krn ketentuannya abstrak hanya terdiri dari 100-200 kata saja.

Learning management is a management related to planning, implementing, and evaluating learning outcomes. The objective of this research was to identify the learning management in implementing 2013 curriculum and character building of students at Vocational School (SMK) 3 of Banda Aceh. This qualitative research was conducted by means of observation, interview, and documentation as the instruments in the process of data collection. The principal, the head of instructional division, the head of culinary art program, teachers, students, and supervisors were the subjects of this research. The data collected were then analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s methods which cover data reduction, data display, and verification. The results indicated that teachers’ (1) planning included annual program, semester program, weekly program, effective hours, and lesson plans. (3) In addition, the implementation of teaching and learning process was not in accordance with the lesson plans and scientific approach was not maximally implemented. Learning models and teaching methods chosen were not reallly appropriate. (3) Evaluation was done in each teaching and learning process, in the middle of semester, and at the end of the semester. Teacher learning programs and methods is one of effective and efficient learning management effort in improving student achievement. This study aimed to determine the learning preparation programs; the preparation of lesson plans, learning site lesson plan implementation, evaluation and the use of mathematical learning methods on student achievement at SMP 5 Meureubo. This research used descriptive method with quantitative approach. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews, documentation and test. Subjects in this study were all the teachers and students at SMP 5 Meureubo. The results of this study showed that the courses organized by the school-based curriculum beginning of each semester admitted to the school principal. But there were still teachers who were not yet ready to put together a program of learning, while the learning process had occurred up to two months. Learning program was designed by teachers directed by the principal, and through the discussion forum of subject teachers (MGMPs), teachers develop syllabi according to the needs and circumstances of the school environment. The results of the data analysis simultaneously learning program teacher and the use of appropriate learning methods can affect the improvement of student achievement results. From the test results; 1) The study showed that learning preparation program, 2) Implementation of lesson plan, and 3) Evaluation of lesson plan, and mathematical learning method affected significantly and positively student achievement at SMP 5 of Meurreuboh of Aceh barat.Keywords: Learning Program and Student Achievement

The principal is the person responsible for improving the professional competence of teachers in the school. The purpose of this research is looking at program arrangement, program implementation, and obstacles encountered. The research methodology used in this study was qualitative technique, and for data collection was done by way of documentation, observation and interview. The sources of data in this study were gathered from the principal and teachers. The result of this study showed that the programs used by the principal in improving the professional competence of teachers were to require the teachers to make RPP, syllabus, annual program, and prepare the teaching materials before the learning and teaching process implemented. There are two strategies used in improving the professional competence of teachers: Formal and Non Formal. Formal strategy were including teacher training, professional training, seminars, while the Non-Formal strategy were emphasizing discipline and motivating teachers. The obstacles faced by the head of SD Negeri 13 Banda Aceh were the lack of teachers and even some existing teachers did not master the IT, and the limited time obtained by teachers at the time following the training and so forth.

Teachers play an important role to improve education quality through increasing their student’s motivation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the leadership style, factors, and obstacles of the transactional and transformational leadership style of the teacher in improving students’ learning motivation at SMA no. 1 of Seunagan, Nagan Raya Regency. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects in this study were a principal and teachers. The results of the study showed that (1) Transactional and transformational leadership style of teacher was carried out as full range leadership model in teaching learning process; (2) Factors influencing teacher as transactional and transformational leadership were character, experience, commitment and his/her competency; (3) The obstacle faced by the teachers in implementing transactional and transformational leadership was the lack of parents support toward policies taken by the teacher in determining rewards or sanction on the students.Keywords: teacher, transactional and transformational leadership, student’s learning motivation

AbstractLeadership is the ability to actuate and direct people to the goal of the school through various systematic stages, and it is the key to support the improvement of teachers’ professional competence in learning activities. This research aimed to find out the composing of the principal’s programing improving the teachers’ professional competence, principal’s technique in improving the teachers’ professional competence, and the obstacles faced by the principal in improving the teachers’ professional competence in State Islamic Senior High School of Kota Bakti. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The techniques for the data collection were observation, interview, and documentation study. The data analysis procedures were data reduction, data display and data verification. The subjects in this study were the principal, vice principal and teachers. The results of this study were: (1) The program compilation of the headmaster was carried out by the principal with vice principal and teachers. The headmaster’s program in improving the professional competence of teachers was in the forms of: realizing the vision and mission of the school, complementing means and infrastructure, conducting activities for teacher development through seminars, continuing education and complementing means and facilities, and holding supervision for both teaching and administration; (2) The Headmaster’s technique for improving the professional competence of the teachers in State Islamic Senior High School of Kota Bakti was to guide, motivate teachers to do best in learning process, foster mental and quality of professionalism, make the climate of the school conducive, increase the motivation of teachers, and give reward and punishment; and (3) the obstacles faced by the headmaster were: less-motivated and careless teachers, the inclination of teachers that was very heterogeneous, either because of the position, age or because of education, lack of teachers’ awareness to their own learning device, teachers that did not have complete device, even it was just impressed sober, and the lack of utilization of internet media as teachers’ reference in teaching.Keywords: leadership, principal/headmaster, professional competence, and teacher

Human resources become the main key in realizing quality education. This study aims to (1) Know the Work Motivation relationship with Teacher Performance SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya; (2) Determine the relationship Supervising Principal Teacher Performance SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya; (3) Knowing relationship Work Motivation and Supervision Principal with teacher performance SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya. This research uses quantitative approach. Which became a population of 891 students and 85 teachers, the samples were 208 students and 65 teachers at SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya. In changing the data used Method of Successive Interval and analyze data used SPSS application. Results of the study are (1) There is a correlation between motivation and performance of SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya value test results for 0,579 on the S ig (2-tailed) = 0,000; (2) There is a strong correlation between principal supervision and performance SMP Negeri Babahrot Aceh Barat Daya with test result value of 0.722 on sig (2-tailed) = 0,000; (3) The correlation coefficient test (R) shows the value of 0.753 which means work motivation and supervision gives 75.3% influence on teacher performance improvement. While the rest of 24.7% influenced by other things. So the performance of teachers is strongly influenced by Work Motivation and Headmaster Supervision. Academic supervision aims at influencing and developing the behavior of the teacher in managing the learning process at school. The purpose of this study was to find out: the implementation of academic supervision for the completeness of teacher administration, discipline of teachers, the commitment of teachers, and the obstacles to the implementation of academic supervision to manage the learning process. Method with a qualitative approach, data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation studies. Subjects of the study were principal and teachers. The results of the research showed that: (1) the implementation of academic supervision for the completeness of teacher administration has been carried out well by the principal. The principal as the supervisor always tried to guide and direct the teachers, mainly in completing learning tools such as annual program, semester program, syllabus, and lesson plan; (2) the implementation of academic supervision to enhance the discipline of teachers has been carried out well by the principal; (3) the implementation of academic supervision to improve the commitment of teachers have been applied well by the principal; and (4) the obstacles to the implementation of academic supervision in the management of the learning process was lack of time of principal because of other tasks. The academic supervision was conducted by the vice principal and senior teachers, but the improvement and guidance were not well implanted.Keywords: academic supervision, principal, and teacher performance
