Abstract

Pharmacies are an inseparable part of the drug distribution chain until it reaches the patient. However, patients often hear complaints about the availability of drugs in pharmacies because sometimes there are drug shortage. The aim of this study was to identify the drug procurement pattern in four network pharmacies in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area in 2019. A retrospective study of four network pharmacies in the Bumi Serpong Peace (BSD) area of South Tangerang was carried out. A total of 8,959 samples were obtained by census from procurement documents of all drugs sold beginning in 2019. (A, B, C, and D pharmacies). The ABC and VEN methods were used in this study. The information gathered includes the name of the drug, the unit, the manufacturer's name, the creditor's name, and the amount and selling price. During 2019, four pharmacies had a total of 2,876 medicinal items of pharmacy A, 1,918 medicinal items of pharmacy B, 1,939 medicinal items of pharmacy C, and 2,226 medicinal items of pharmacy D, with a total drug expenditure of pharmacy A Rp.2,649,438;pharmacy B Rp.683,389,661; pharmacy C Rp. 881,540,329; and pharmacy D Rp. 1,245,520,143. Based on the findings of the study, it is possible to conclude that the four pharmacies have the most drugs in the essential category based on the VEN analysis. However, based on the Pareto ABC analysis, there are still many drugs in four network pharmacies in the BSD Region that fall into the Pareto C category, necessitating further investigation of the procurement.

Abstract

People are becoming more interested in nutraceutical preparations to maintain health as the world's health problems worsen. Jatropha curcas leaves (Jatropha curcas L.) have anthelmintic properties due to tannin compounds that act as anti-worms. This study aims to produce jelly candy preparations from Jatropha curcas leaves and evaluate these preparations. There are two stages of research: raw material preparation and verification, and jelly candy formulation. This study showed that the best concentration of Jatropha leaf extract was Formula 2. Based on the phytochemical test, there were alkaloids in the Jatropha leaf extract.  The pH value of gummy candies preparations of castor leaf extract, weight uniformity test, passed the moisture content test because they met the requirements for a wide range of dosage values. Meanwhile, the Hedonic Test results show that Formula 2 is the most preferred by children. So, based on the evaluation and hedonic test results, Formula 2 is the best preparation for jelly candy from jatropha leaves.

Abstract

Cempedak (Artacorpus integer (Thunb.) Merr) is a plant whose fruit is commonly consumed by the public. However, the leaves are still not widely used and have been reported to have various benefits as efficacious herbal medicines. This is due to its phenolic compounds which play a role in counteracting free radicals and indirectly positively impact the body's immunity. This study aims to formulate cempedak leaf cereal as a new nutraceutical for children. The stages carried out include making extracts, cereal formulations, and evaluating the characteristics of cempedak leaves cereal including organoleptic, specific gravity, compressibility index, flow rate, granule repose angle, moisture content, reconstitution time, organoleptic and pH tests after reconstitution, sedimentation volume, and physical stability test. The formulations were three variations, namely F1 (containing 1% extract), F2 (containing 3% extract), and F3 (containing 5% extract) in the form of granules using wet granulation methods. The formulation and evaluation results of the three formulations are not much different from one another. However, based on the results of the compressibility index, F2 met the good standard criteria, namely 9.23%. The aroma and taste of the formulation are the same as commercial cereals, so we are sure that children will like them. In addition, the results of phytochemical tests also showed that the secondary metabolites contained in cempedak leaf extract could act as immune boosters. The three formulations also showed good stability for 30 days. Based on the results, our formulation met the criteria as nutraceuticals.
