Abstract

Teacher is a key person in teaching and learning process. The teacher must have good strategies to teach, they also have to know the goals to reach success and how they set the students realizing those goals. Besides, content knowledge is crucial owned by a teacher to create meaningful learning for students especially in Content-Based Instruction teaching and learning context. It becomes an issue once new idea to maximize the learning process and results. This study was intended to find the pedagogical strategies applied by the teacher in the teaching learning process and to know teacher‘s content knowledge, how teacher need to understand the subject matter taught. This study was carried out in English for Maths subject of Mathematics education study program IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro which involved the teacher and the students as the respondent. This study is under qualitative case study. In collecting the data, questionnaire, observation and interview were conducted to get detail information of the issues. The result reveals: 1) the teacher combines some methods such as cooperative learning, problem-based learning and task-based learning to get the students enthusiasm; 2) based on teacher‘s educational background, although the teacher graduated from Bachelor Degree of English Education but she was able to combine English teaching through mathematics content very well. It can be concluded that Teacher‘s pedagogical strategy and content knowledge is very important in the application of content-based instruction teaching and learning.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the implementation of the flipped classroom method using Screencast-O-Matic apps in the teaching of Indonesian language reading skills and the impact this method has on the learning process. This qualitative research was conducted at one of the private institutes in Bojonegoro, Indonesia, and the researcher acted as the observer. The data were obtained through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were analysed using Creswell’s thematic analysis, which involves six stages of analysing and intrepreting. Then, the data were validated using triangulations of theory and source. The results of this research show that Screencast-O-Matic apps contribute to the successful implementation of the flipped classroom method. The combination of the teaching method and the media creates innovation in teaching reading skills in the Indonesian language. In the teaching and learning process, the teacher acts as the facilitator, resulting in some good impacts for the students: 1) the students are motivated by the video study materials, 2) the students are able to enjoy their leisure time, 3) the students are pleased with the teaching and learning process and are able to answer questions quickly, 4) the students appreciate each other’s opinions, and 5) the students have more comprehensive knowledge of the Indonesian language reading skills materials.

Abstract

Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah 1) mengenalkan aplikasi-aplikasi dalam e-learning kepada guru SMP AT-TAJDID, 2) guru SMP AT-TAJDID dapat mengoperasikan aplikasi schoology. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini disusun secara sistematis mulai dari tahap awal, tahap inti, dan tahap akhir. Pelasanaan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat harus sesuai dengan target capaian dan mencapai luaran yang tepat waktu dan baik. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dilakukan pada hari Kamis, 07 November 2019 mulai pukul 09.00 di SMP AT-TAJDID Cepu, Kabupaten Blora, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 13 guru yang mengampu mata pelajaran berbeda. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Guru SMP AT-TAJDID dapat mengetahui aplikasi-aplikasi dalam e-learning, 2) Guru SMP AT-TAJDID mampu mengoperasikan aplikasi schoology mulai dari mendaftar, mengisi materi, membuat quiz, dan membagikan kode kelas kepada siswa.

Abstract

An English textbook is needed by the learners to study the materials presented by the teacher or learn independently. A textbook must contain fewer errors, especially in grammar, because they can confuse the students and influence the outcome of their learning process. This descriptive quantitative research is aimed at investigating the types of grammatical errors and determining whether the book is applicable or not for teaching sixth-grade students. The grammar inside the book was analyzed by Depraetere and Langford as well as Azar's theories. The data sources were derived from the sixth-grade elementary school textbook entitled "One Stop English Learning", which was published by Edutama Mulia in 2018 and written by Bashori Alwi. This book has been widely used by elementary schools in rural and urban areas. The researchers found 6 grammatical errors in unit 1, and 1 error in unit 2. Those errors were related to tenses, plural nouns, and subject-verb agreement. Since the grammatical errors in this book were less than 50%, the book is still considered good enough to be used as a learning source. However, teachers and students must be more careful with these small errors.

Abstract

Abstract: A Study on Pair Work and Storytelling for teaching Speaking Fluency. Fluency in speaking creates a growing demand of Indonesian people on starting teaching English at elementary school level. The aim of this study is to analyze the implementation of pair work and storytelling, and the impact of it toward students’ speaking fluency. This study employed a qualitative research design, in order to be able to observe and get detail information on how the students react and interact in the speaking class. This research was conducted on the fifth grade of primary school students. Necessary data were gathered using interview, observation, and the document analysis. The result of this study revealed that pair work and story telling were implemented in the elaboration step in which the students are assigned to do the worksheet. In the implementation process, the teacher inserted motivation to encourage the students. Besides, the implementation of pair work and story telling in the speaking class drives the students to have speech rate around 110 – 130 wpm, silent pauses in 1 – 3 seconds and some fillers.Keywords: Pair Work, Story Telling, Speaking FluencyAbstrak: Studi Pengggunaan Metode Pair Work dan Storytelling untuk Mengajar Kelancaran dalam Keterampilan Berbicara. Kelancaran berbicara menyebabkan semakin meningkatnya minat penduduk Indonesia untuk mulai mengajarkan bahasa Inggris pada tingkat sekolah dasar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penerapan pair work dan story telling, serta dampaknya terhadap kelancaran berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif, agar dapat mengamati dan mendapatkan informasi rinci tentang bagaimana siswa saling berinteraksi di kelas speaking. Objek penelitian merupakan siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar. Data yang dibutuhkan diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian mengungkap bahwa pair work dan story telling diterapkan pada tahap elaborasi dimana siswa ditugaskan untuk mengerjakan worksheet (lembar kerja). Dalam penerapannya, guru menyisipkan motivasi kepada para siswa. Di samping itu, penerapan pair work dan story telling di kelas speaking mampu mendorong siswa memiliki kecepatan berbicara sekitar 110 – 130 kpm, jeda dalam 1 – 3 detik dan beberapa idiolek.Kata kunci: Pair Work, Story Telling, Kelancaran Berbicara

Abstract

Abstract: The covid-19 pandemic causes the need of distance learning. As in offline learning, its learning objectives have to be fulfilled. In the learning process, lesson plan is very important. The aim of this study is to develop the MBKM based lesson plan as the implementation of distance learning. The method of this study is research and development which implements the development model of Thiagarajan that is modified into three stages, namely: define, design, and develop stages. The methods in collecting data are documentations, questionnaires, and achievement tests. Based on the analysis results, the modification of developed learning tools using 4-D model produces MBKM based learning tools which is implemented in the distance learning using Moodle. The learning tools are valid based on the experts and the results of pretest that show the positive responses on learning and the achievement results that fulfilled the criteria of validity, reliability, and sensitivity test items.   Abstrak: Pandemi covid-19 menyebabkan perlunya pembelajaran jarak jauh. Seperti dalam pembelajaran offline, capaian pembelajaranpun harus terpenuhi. Dalam proses pembelajaran, RPP sangatlah penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan RPP berbasis MBKM sebagai implementasi pembelajaran jarak jauh. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan yang mengimplementasikan model pengembangan Thiagarajan yang dimodifikasi menjadi tiga tahap, yaitu: tahap define, design, dan develop. Metode pengumpulan data dengan dokumentasi, angket, dan tes prestasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, modifikasi perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan menggunakan model 4-D menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis MBKM yang diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran jarak jauh menggunakan Moodle. Perangkat pembelajaran tersebut valid berdasarkan ahli dan hasil pretest yang menunjukkan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran dan hasil pencapaian yang memenuhi kriteria validitas, reliabilitas, dan sensitivitas item tes.

Abstract

Abstract: In the post pandemic era, the students are supposed to have better knowledge. Many of them got learning loss because of distance learning (Engzell, Frey, & Verhagen, 2021). This study aims to upgrade the students’ vocabularies using semantic mapping strategy (SMS). This classroom action research was conducted to the seventh grade students of SMP Plus Al hidayah Parengan. The data is collected using test, observation, and interview. The results of study reveal that the average of students’ scores who pass the grade in pre-test is 30%. In cycle 1, it increases into 50%. It is more increased in cycle II in which the average of students’ scores who pass the grade is 90%. It can be concluded that the semantic mapping strategy is able to upgrade the students’ vocabulary mastery especially in post pandemic era.  Keywords: Students’ Vocabulary, Semantic Mapping Strategy, Post Pandemic Era  Abstrak: Pada masa setelah pandemi usai, siswa diharapkan memiliki pengetahuan yang jauh lebih baik. Menurut pendapat Engzell, Frey, dan Verhagen (2021), kebanyakan dari siswa tersebut mengalami ‘learning loss’ atau kerugian belajar. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa dengan menggunakan strategi pemetaan semantik/semantic mapping strategy. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas 7 di SMP Plus Al Hidayah Parengan. Data didapatkan melalui tes, observasi, dan interview. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai siswa yang melampaui batas ketuntasan sebanyak 30%. Pada siklus I, terjadi peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa yang melampaui batas ketuntasan sebanyak 50%. Hal ini juga terjadi pada siklus II dimana rata-rata nya menjadi 90%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi pemetaan semantic mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa terutama di masa setelah pandemic ini.  Kata Kunci: Kosakata Siswa, Strategi Pemetaan Semantik, Pasca Pandemi

Abstract

Pendidikan jarak jauh di era pandemic ini mengharuskan guru menyiapkan media pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat pengganti tatap muka di kelas. Salah satu media yang dapat digunakan adalah video. Salah satu aplikasi gratis video interaktif pembelajaran bahasa secara online yang dapat digunakan adalah aplikasi edpuzzle dan audacity. Penggunaan kedua aplikasi tersebut masih sangatlah jarang sehingga mendorong Tim PkM untuk mengadakan pelatihan penggunaan kedua aplikasi tersebut secara daring kepada guru MTs. Darut Tauhid karena di sekolah ini belum pernah ada pelatihan terkait penggunaan kedua aplikasi tersebut. Diharapkan dengan adanya pelatihan ini, bapak ibi pengajar di sekolah sasaran dapat membuatv video pembeljaran yang menarik sebagai pengggant tatap muka di kelas. Pada pengabdian ini metode yang digunakan adalah 1) penyampaian materi dan pembimbingan,2) pembuatan video oleh pesertapelatihan 3) evaluasi kegiatan. Skema pengabdian dimulai dari langkah persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah interview, virtual workshop, dan dokumentasi. Dalam kegiatan ini dapat dilihat bahwa bapak ibu pengajar di sekolah ini dapat membuat video dengan menggunakan kedua aplikasi dalam virtual workshop. Abstract

The Partner of this activity was SDN Pilang Kanor District Bojonegoro District. The majority of Pilang villagers work as farmers. From the agricultural production, they produce abundant organic waste. In addition, the organic waste is also produced from household kitchens and schools. Remnants of the processed food from the kitchen and food scraps from schools also contribute to the increasing amount of organic waste. Organic waste that accumulates will certainly have a negative impact on public health. Stacking of the organic waste can be avoided by reprocessing it; for example, organic waste can be reused into compost. The purpose of this activity was to provide training to the partners (SDN Pilang students) to make takakura basket (Takakura Home Method) as a medium to process organic waste into compost. This training was conducted for 1 (one) day with three main steps, i.e. preparation, implementation, and evaluation. However, the results and sustainability of the activities were monitored for approximately 2 (two) weeks. The group of students was given guidance by the university students related to the sustainability of composting through the takakura basket. The result of the activity shows that the partners of this activity are able to make takakura baskets and apply them to process of organic waste around the school environment. In addition, students' awareness of the utilization of organic waste in the surrounding environment is increasing.Keywords: compost, organic waste, Takakura baskets ABSTRAK Mitra dari kegiatan ini adalah SDN Pilang Kecamatan Kanor Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Mayoritas masyarakat desa Pilang bekerja sebagai petani. Dari hasil pertanian, mereka menghasilkan sampah organik yang melimpah. Selain itu, sampah organik juga dihasilkan dari dapur rumah tangga dan sekolah. Sisa-sisa olahan makanan dari dapur dan makanan dari sekolah juga turut menyumbang meningkatnya jumlah sampah organik. Sampah organik yang menumpuk tentunya akan berdampak yang kurang baik bagi kesehatan masyarakat. Penumpukan dapat dihindari dengan mengolah kembali sampah yang dihasilkan. Misalnya, sampah organik dapat dimanfaatkan kembali menjadi kompos. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihan kepada mitra (siswa SDN Pilang) untuk membuat keranjang takakura (Takakura Home Method) sebagai media untuk mengolah sampah organik menjadi kompos. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan selama 1 (satu) hari dengan tiga tahapan utama, yaitu: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Akan tetapi hasil dan keberlanjutan kegiatan tersebut dipantau selama kurang lebih 2 (dua) minggu. Kelompok siswa diberikan pembimbingan oleh para mahasiswa berkaitan dengan keberlanjutan pembuatan kompos melalui media keranjang takakura tersebut. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mitra kegiatan ini mampu membuat keranjang takakura dan mengaplikasikannya untuk pengolahan sampah organik yang berada di sekitar lingkungan sekolah. Selain itu, kesadaran para siswa akan pemanfaatan sampah organik yang ada di lingkungan sekitar semakin meningkat.Kata Kunci: kompos, keranjang Takakura, sampah organik

Abstract

ABSTRACTThere are four aspects in language; listening, speaking, reading, and writing skill. Those aspect is an unity and connected each other. Writing skill is the competence to express someone’s ideas, thought in written form. The purpose of this activity was to enhance student’s verbal creativity through writing. The participants were the fifth grade studetns of SDN Tegalkodo Sukosewu. Keywords:verbal creativity, writing skill ABSTRAKKeterampilan berbahasa digolongkan menjadi empat aspek, yaitu: keterampilan menyimak, keterampilan berbicara, keterampilan membaca dan keterampilan menulis. Keempat keterampilan berbahasa merupakan satu kesatuan yang saling berkaitan dan menunjangsatu dengan yang lain. Keterampilan menulis adalah keterampilan untuk mengekspresikan pendapat, pikiran/gagasan dalam bentuk tulisan yang baik dan benar. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKM ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kreativitas verbal siswa sekolah dasar mealui kegiatan mengarang dan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa sajakah yang mempengaruhi tingkat kreativitas verbal individu. Partisipan dari kegiatan ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Tegalkodo Kecamatan Sukosewu Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Kata Kunci: kreativitas verbal, keterampilan menulis
