Abstract

This research aimed to describe the form of errors in using affixation in Indonesian Language paper written by Thai students. The data were words and sentences that contained errors. The research was qualitative research using content analysis method. This research used interactive model data analysis through three steps. Those were data reduction, presentation of data, as well as conclusion and verification. The results show that there are some errors; 72 errors in using affixation: 21 or 29% errors in prefix, 9 or 13% errors in suffix, 9 or 13% errors in confix, and 33 or 46% errors klofiks (combination of affixes). The error is caused by two factors; 7% of interlingual errors and intralingual factor including 7% of overgeneralization and 86% of ignorance of rule restriction. However, the results also show that Thai students have not mastered or understood the structure of Indonesian language. The results can be used to develop the techniques of teaching Indonesian structure, especially the use of affixation. Therefore, the Thai students can improve the ability to use Indonesian language by channeling it in academic writing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop teaching material for exposition text writing based on a contextual approach for class X high school students. This teaching material is needed to support students' ability to write exposition text. Based on the results of observation and analysis of initial needs, students find it difficult because the text used in the textbook used is not contextual so it is difficult to understand students. The research carried out was by using research and development method which refers to the development of Borg and Gall which is tailored to the needs. This study was designed according to the needs of students in class X BPS & K I Jakarta High School. The book cover is designed to describe the contents of the material in this product. The content of the product consists of seven materials. The material is (1) Composing the sentence of nominal and verbal sentences. (2) Introducing paragraph reasoning patterns. (3) Facts and opinions in the exposition text. (4) Arranging the first exposition text structure, namely the thesis. (5) Arranging the structure of the second epic text, namely classes. (6) Arranging the third exposition text structure that is the conclusion. (7) Arranging exposition texts with appropriate structures and rules. All material, examples, texts, exercises, and illustrations of images contained in the teaching materials are adapted to the environment in Jakarta. The presence of contextual teaching materials is expected to facilitate students to study exposition texts.

Abstract

The use of learning multimedia has numerous advantages, including accommodating variances in student learning styles, allowing students to choose the content to be studied, and allowing students to change their learning speed by selecting particular buttons given in multimedia learning. This study aims to investigate the development of multimedia-based teaching materials in the mastery of linguistic aspects of the understanding of listening to Mandarin. This research method in the form of literature review was conducted based on issues, methodologies, equations and further research proposals. The findings revealed that the understanding of listening to their language after the application of materials that indicate multimedia had an influence on the development of mandarin teaching material materials.So it can be concluded that, multimedia is one of the important tools in teaching understanding listening to mandarin. With the right elements and the right storyboard can help motivate students and improve listening skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) kebutuhan materi ajar membaca bagi siswa BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia Penutur Asing) tingkat A1 dengan pendekatan deduktif di Sekolah Dasar D’Royal Moroco Integrative Islamic School, dan 2) kondisi materi ajar membaca yang selama ini digunakan di sekolah tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan tahapan eksplorasi dari penelitian pengembangan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, analisis dokumen, wawancara, dan tes dapat dijabarkan bahwa sekolah tersebut belum memiliki silabus dan materi ajar khusus bagi para siswa BIPA. Sedangkan di sekolah tersebut memiliki cukup banyak siswa BIPA. Hal ini menjadikan pentingnya pengembangan materi ajar membaca BIPA tingkat A1 untuk segera dilakukan. Dalam pendekatan deduktif, materi ajar yang dikembangkan, harus memiliki urutan penyajian sebagai berikut: 1) kaidah pada bagian awal, 2) diikuti contoh-contoh relevan, dan 3) latihan yang memadai. Dalam kaitannya dengan penggunaan materi bagi siswa SD yang masih tergolong anak-anak, maka materi ajar yang dikembangkan juga harus memuat ilustrasi yang menarik.

Abstract

Tujuan tulisan ini ialah untuk melihat teks iklan di lingkungan sekolah berdasarkan teori Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional yang difokuskan pada fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan ciri kebahasaan teks iklan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi Philip Myring dengan pengembangan kategori induktif. Teks iklan yang dipajang di sekolah menyampaikan produk dalam bidang pendidikan, minuman, dan kosmetik dan memiliki struktur teks iklan yang lengkap sebagai teks eksposisi, serta penggunaan bahasa yang sesuai dengan bahasa pada iklan. Fungsi sosial iklan selain memasarkan produk juga memberikan pesan lain. Teks iklan di sekolah dapat berimplikasi pada model pembelajaran di dalam kelas atau penguasaan teks iklan siswa dapat digunakan dalam penyusunan iklan yang dipasang di sekolah.

Abstract

Not many readability studies have been carried out on Indonesian language textbooks for foreign speakers (BIPA). This study analyzes BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia textbooks' readability at B1 and B2 levels through fog index. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using documentation techniques on discourses in the BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia textbook published by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2016. According to the fog index criteria, this research is used as teaching materials for reading skills, namely eight lessons in textbooks B1 and eleven lessons on B2. Data were analyzed using measurement techniques through the fog index formula developed by Gunning. Based on the fog index, level B1 textbooks had a mean score of 2.98 with elementary criteria, while B2 level textbooks had a mean score of 4.02 with easy standards. Thus, as a representation of the existing BIPA textbooks, the intermediate level Sahabatku Indonesia book, both B1 and B2, shows less ideal criteria.Belum banyak dilakukan kajian keterbacaan terhadap buku teks Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keterbacaan wacana buku teks BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat B1 dan B2 melalui fog index. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi terhadap wacana-wacana yang terdapat dalam buku teks BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia terbitan Kemendikbud tahun 2016. Sampel penelitian ini adalah wacana-wacana yang digunakan sebagai bahan ajar keterampilan membaca dan sesuai dengan kriteria fog index, yakni delapan wacana pada buku teks tingkat B1 dan sebelas wacana pada buku teks tingkat B2. Data dianalisis dengan teknik pengukuran melalui formula fog index yang dikembangkan oleh Gunning. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan fog index, buku teks tingkat B1 memiliki skor rerata 2,98 dengan kriteria sangat mudah, sedangkan buku teks tingkat B2 memiliki skor rerata 4,02 dengan kriteria mudah. Dengan demikian, sebagai representasi buku teks BIPA yang ada, buku Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat madya, baik tingkat B1 maupun B2 menunjukkan kriteria kurang ideal.

Abstract

This study aims to determine Ahok’s leadership style in The Jakarta Post news of 2014-2015 editions. This is a qualitative research using a critical discourse analysis based on the Norman Fairclough’s model. In this research the ideology is analyzed in terms of discoursive and socio-cultural practices in the news. The research was analysed by finding out ideologies in discourse practices including texts production, ideologies, socio-cultural practices and attention to social cultural aspects. Leadership theories used in this research range from autocratic, democratic, liberal, bureaucratic to situational leadership styles. The research results show Ahok’s dominant autocratic leadership style in The Jakarta Post news of 2014-2015 editions. As The Jakarta Post was not neutral in fostering the ideology, many authors supported Ahok’s leadership ideology in the news. The socio-cultural practices delineate that Ahok’s autocratic leadership style and policies as a governor are unsuitable with socio-cultural spheres in Indonesia. Therefore, his leadership style got more contras than pros from the public. This research is expectedly useful for learners and readers in understanding and analyzing hidden intentions in a discourse, especially to open up the ideology of a leader. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan gaya kepemimpinan Ahok melalui berita di The Jakarta Post edisi 2014-2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis kritis model Norman Fairclough. Ideologi dianalisis dalam bentuk praktik diskursif dan sosial budaya yang terdapat dalam berita. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan mencari ideologi yang terdapat dalam praktik diskursus, termasuk produksi teks, ideologi, praktik sosial budaya, dan perhatian terhadap aspek sosial budaya. Teori kepemimpinan yang digunakan, meliputi: gaya kepemimpinan otokratis, demokratis, liberal, birokratis, dan situasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan Ahok yang dominan dalam berita The Jakarta Post edisi 2014-2015 adalah otokratik. Hal ini karena The Jakarta Post tidak netral dalam mengembangkan ide-ide ideologis. Banyak penulis yang mendukung ideologi kepemimpinan Ahok yang tertuang dalam berita. Praktik-praktik sosial budaya menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan dan kebijakan Ahok yang otokratis tidak sesuai dengan lingkup sosial budaya di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, gaya kepemimpinan Ahok mendapat lebih banyak kontradiksi daripada penerimaan di kalangan masyarakat.

Abstract

In the BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia textbook, competency mapping about personal deixis has been taught at the A1 level. However, in reality, BIPA level B2 learners still use person deixis incorrectly. In fact, persona deixis is closely used in daily life. This study aims to: (1) find out how person deixis in the BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia textbook level B2 and (2) find out how the deixis rhetoric in the BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia B2 level textbook. This research uses content analysis with a qualitative approach. The number of types of person deixis in the BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia textbook level B2 is 102 data. The data consists of 55 data (53.92%) first-person deixis, 4 data (3.92%) plural first person deixis, 29 data (28.43%) second persona single deixis, 0 (0%) person deixis second plural, 8 data (7.84%) third single person deixis, and 6 data (5.88%) plural third-person deixis. Meanwhile, deixis rhetoric in the B2 level Sahabatku textbooks has 71 data.Dalam buku ajar BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia, pemetaan kompetensi tentang deiksis persona sudah diajarkan pada tingkat A1. Namun, kenyataannya pemelajar BIPA tingkat B2 masih salah menggunakan deiksis persona. Padahal, deiksis persona erat digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui bagaimana deiksis persona dalam buku ajar BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat B2 dan (2) mengetahui bagaimana retorika deiksis dalam buku ajar BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat B2. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Jumlah jenis-jenis deiksis persona dalam buku ajar BIPA Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat B2 adalah 102 data. Data tersebut terdiri atas 55 data (53,92%) deiksis persona pertama tunggal, 4 data (3,92%) deiksis persona pertama jamak, 29 data (28,43%) deiksis persona kedua tunggal, 0 (0%) deiksis persona kedua jamak, 8 data (7,84%) deiksis persona ketiga tunggal, dan 6 data (5,88%) deiksis persona ketiga jamak. Sementara itu, retorika deiksis dalam buku ajar Sahabatku Indonesia tingkat B2 ada 71 data.
