Abstract

Ubi jalar merupakan salah satu sumber pangan utama setelah beras dan ubi kayu yang mempunyai potensi ekonomi untuk dikembangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah i) untuk menganalisis tingkat efisiensi teknis, alokatif, dan ekonomi usaha tani ubi jalar; ii) untuk mempelajari faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi efisiensi produksi ubi jalar; dan iii) untuk mendeskripsikan prospek pengembangan usaha tani ubi jalar. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan fungsi produksi Cobb Douglass stochastic frontier dan fungsi biaya dual frontier. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa usaha tani ubi jalar Desa Petir telah efisien secara teknis dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 0,95, namun belum efisien secara alokatif (0,61) dan ekonomi (0,57). Faktor yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap inefisiensi teknis adalah pendidikan, umur, proporsi pendapatan ubi jalar, keikutsertaan kelompok tani, modal usaha tani, varietas ubi jalar dan dummy irigasi. Usaha tani ubi jalar sangat prospek untuk dikembangkan karena mempunyai tingkat keuntungan dan produktivitas yang tinggi, serta permintaan ubi jalar yang terus meningkat.

Abstract

Bud chip method has proven to improve the productivity of sugarcane and produce more efficient, but still a few farmers who use it. This is due to higher production costs and sugarcane farmers are still not technically skilled. This study aimed to analyze the technical efficiency of sugarcane farming with conventional methods and bud chips in the PTPN X and to identify the factors underlying the farmers to use methods of bud chips in the PTPN X. The number of samples used as many as 31 farmers (11 farmers sugarcane bud chip method and 20 sugarcane farmers mule method). This study uses a stochastic frontier production function approach with Stochastic Frontier production function Cobb Douglas and using a logistic regression model. The results showed the value of technical efficiency index sugarcane growers with bud chip method is efficient (TE = 0.98) whereas the sugarcane farmers who use mule systems have not been efficiently categorized (TE= 0.78). Bud chip method has been proven can improve technical efficiency because it can result in higher productivity. The underlying things that make farmers choose the bud chip method are extensive cultivation, education level and ease of sugarcane cultivation with the bud chip method. Therefore, sugarcane productivity in PTPN X can be increased through the use of the bud chip method accompanied by an increase in sugarcane land area and training for farmers. Abstract

High sugar consumption cannot be fulfilled by domestic sugar production. The reason is that the performance and efficiency of the national sugar mills (PG) are still relatively low. Measurement of efficiency of sugar mills can be conducted by counting the sugar losses. This study aims to (1) to analyze the value of loss index and its implications on the efficiency of sugar mills;and (2) to assess the risk due to losses. Primary and Secondary data were used in this study containing annual data of sugar mills performance indicators in PTPN X such as Overall Recovery (OR), Boiling House Recovery (BHR), Mill Extraction (ME),the amount of bagasse, the amount of filter cake, and the amount if molasses at sugar cane factory (period of 2011-2015). The data were analyzed by evaluative descriptive analysis, index calculation, and risk assessment using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method. The analysis shows that the losses produced by sugar mills in Indonesia are still quite high around 2.60–2.88%. This level of losses shows the performance of sugar mills is inefficient and causes financial losses in sugar mills. Production risk assessment due to losses shows a high level of risk. Therefore, sugar mills must have a program to reduce its level of losses to the minimum level (<2%). Meanwhile, sugar mills must have programs to utilize losses to be value-added co-products.Keywords: losses, FMEA, efficiency, performance, sugar industry

Abstract

Demand for beef in Indonesia keeps growing and it leads to increased gap between its low production and high consumption (excess demand). The impact is an increasing trend of domestic beef price. Eventhough, the beef farmers in Indonesia don’t respond to the price changes. In this study, an attempt has been made to examine the supply response of beef farmers in Indonesia by using Error Correction Model (ECM). The result showed that (1) the beef supply influenced by the number of cattle cut which is variable availability; (2) the price of dairy milk, the price of feed, and the price of beef the world have negative influence; (3) cattle farmers not responsive to the price change as spatially subsistence.

Abstract

East Java is a province that has a high population, household consumption expenditure is an important thing to consider. The implication is that there will be an increase in production and investment in East Java. Therefore, household consumption expenditure is one of the determinants of community welfare. This study aims to analyze the structure of household consumption expenditure and the factors that influence food expenditure in East Java. The data used were secondary data from East Java in Figures 2019. This study was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis showed that there has been an increase in the welfare of the people of East Java. This is indicated by an increase in the amount of non-food expenditure is higher than food expenditure. Factors affecting household food expenditure in East Java are GRDP per capita, inflation rate, rice prices, and non-food expenditure. Based on these results it is suggested that the government needs to maintain the stability of prices of goods and services to avoid inflation because inflation will reduce public consumption and have implications for the economy of East Java. Abstract

High price fluctuations in onions can cause prices at the consumer level to change in a relatively quick time. However, the price change is not necessarily enjoyed by most of the onion farmers. This implies a high marketing margin and low farmer prices. This study aims to analyze the integration of onion consumer market with onion producer market in Indonesia by using VECM (Vector Error Correction Model). Monthly onion price data with 48 time series period is used to analyze the onion market integration. The results show that only the consumer market that affects the market of onion producers (one way). There are short-term and long-term market integration between the consumer market and the onion producers. However, changes that occur in the consumer market are not always accepted by the onion producers of the same scale. This shows that the price information of onion in the producer's market is not always transmitted perfectly to the onion producer market.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) analyze the characteristics of Cayenne Pepper consumers in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; and 2) analyze the factors that influence the demand for Cayenne Pepper in Mataram. This research was conducted at Kebun Roek Market, Pagesangan Market, and Tanjung Karang Market, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. Respondents were determined by quota sampling of 30 samples with accidental sampling technique. The analytical method used is a descriptive qualitative analysis method and quantitative analysis method using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the consumer characteristics of cayenne pepper in this research were 100 percent female gender. The number of respondents aged 15-64 years old is 100 percent. Respondents who completed education at the Higher Education level were 63.33 percent. Respondents who have a profession as housewives are 36.66 percent. Respondents who have 3 family members are 46.66 percent. The results showed that the variable price of cayenne pepper and variable number of family members had a significant influence on the demand of cayenne pepper in Mataram.

Abstract

Covid-19 has brought surprising changes in the household behavior pattern and decision-making process in consuming food. Therefore, this study aimed to (1) identify household consumption pattern and purchase behavior due to the dynamics of supply shock during the Covid-19 pandemic and (2) analyze factors that influence household consumption decisions on food purchase during the Covid-19 pandemic. One hundred participants from Kaliwates and Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, had recruited by the cluster sampling technique. These districts were purposively selected as the study locations. Data were analyzed using logit analysis. Findings reported that variable of price, income, age, and residence dummy had significantly influenced the household consumption decision on food purchase during the pandemic at the level of=20%. Secure staple food stock is required, recalling the evidence that no significant change in the food consumption patterns documented in this study

Abstract

Salah satu kondisi yang dihadapi industri gula nasional dalam bidang on-farm adalah ketersedian lahan tebu yang terbatas. Pertumbuhan lahan tebu secara nasional mengalami penurunan. Produktivitas tebu nasional hanya berkisar antara 60-70 ton/ha (idealnya lebih dari 100 ton/ha). Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan identifikasi adanya peluang untuk meningkatkan potensi produktivitas tebu melalui peningkatan efisiensi, besaran nilai efisiensi dan faktor-faktor penentu inefisiensi usahatani tebu. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di wilayah kerja PTPN X. Sampel diambil secara purposive dengan memilih 35 orang responden petani tebu. Pendugaan parameter fungsi produksi frontier stokastik (SFPF). Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel yang berpengaruh signifikan adalah luas lahan, pupuk anorganik, pestisida dan tenaga kerja. Nilai indeks rata-rata efisiensi teknis, alokatif, dan ekonomi usahatani tebu di wilayah kerja PTPN X berturut-turut adalah sebesar 0,77, 0,60, dan 0,45 yang mengindikasikan bahwa usahatani tebu efisien secara teknis, namun belum efisien secara alokatif dan ekonomi karena biaya produksi yang masih tinggi dengan harga gula yang masih belum memberikan keuntungan kepada petani tebu. Potensi produksi tebu di wilayah kerja PTPN X masih dapat ditingkatkan menjadi 151,40 Ton/Ha bahkan mampu meningkat sampai dengan 156,67 Ton/Ha dengan menggunakan teknologi bud chip, peningkatan kompetensi dan melakukan manajemen produksi yang baik.

Abstract

Permasalahan dari segi perbibitan yang menyebabkan rendahnya efisiensi industri gula nasional adalah tidak seimbangnya komposisi varietas-varietas tebu yang ditanam yaitu antara varietas masak awal, masak tengah dan masak akhir sehingga rendemen tidak optimal. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan analisis preferensi petani terhadap atribut bibit/varietas tebu. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di wilayah kerja PTPN X. Sampel diambil secara purposive dengan memilih 45 orang responden petani tebu. Preferensi petani dianalisi dengan menggunakan pendekatan multiatribut Fishbein. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 10 atribut yang dianggap paling penting bagi petani dalam menentukan pemilihan varietas bibit tebu. Selain itu, sikap responden petani berbeda-beda terhadap ketiga jenis varietas tebu. Petani tebu cenderung lebih menyukai varietas masak akhir dibandingkan masak awal dan akhir. Petani juga lebih menyukai tebu varietas masak awal dibandingkan dengan varietas masak akhir. Hal ini dikarenakan varietas masak akhir diyakin oleh petani memiliki potensi produktivitas dan rendemen yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan varietas masak awal atau tengah.
