Abstract

The purpose of implementing this community service is to apply a performance-based real work lecture implementation model with an adaptive program in the new normal period at the implementation of the Riau University Real Work Lecture (Kukerta). Implementation will be carried out in 2021 in all Kukerta locations for Riau University students in 2021. The focus of the model applied is the basis of indicators for assessing Kukerta implementation based on community service performance for universities. In addition, the programs that are prepared are also adaptive during the new normal. The results of the application show that there is a potential for increasing service performance outcomes through the implementation of this Kukerta, namely in the indicators (a) service with non-DRPM funding, (b) publication in the mass media, (c) partners with legal entities, and (d) books.

Abstract

To optimize the utilization of the soils, especially in the wetlands, precise and comprehensive understanding of soil characteristic is needed to support agricultural works. The study was conducted in the Teluk Meranti District, Pelalawan for five months. The field survey was carried out on 1:50.000 scale map which was used for mapping, classifying, describing morphological, physical, and chemical soil properties. The soil classification systems applied to this study were soil taxonomy until family categories. The result of study indicated that areas occupied by six soil mapping units were: sapric haplohemist on 42.173 Ha areas (11%); typic haplohemist on 111.520 Ha areas (29%); typic haplosaprist on 212.486 Ha areas (54%); typic endoquents on 14.310 Ha areas (3%); sulfic endoaquepts on 4.297 Ha areas (1%); humic endoaquepts on 5.235 Ha areas (1%). Abstract

Developing horticultural in the peat land needs geographical information system to gain data about its potential. The study was conducted at Meranti District, Riau Province at 2008. The result of study indicated that fruit crops (mango, durian, rambutan, soursop, avocado, mangos teen, citrus, jackfruit, banana, star fruit, papaya, and pineapple had the S2 land suitability for shallow-middle peat (50-200 cm). Based on this result, Meranti district has potential as a central of tropical fruits. The distribution of tropical peat land in Meranti district is about 263.647 ha or 64% tropical peat land.

Abstract

Identification of high inputs to increase the land suitability for oil palm plantation was carried out at PT. Teso Indah, Indragiri Hulu, Riau in 2006. The land evaluation system applied in this study was maximum limiting factors. The result of this study indicated that reas occupied by three soil mapping units were: SPT1 of 3,988.36, SPT2 of 807.57 and SPT3 of 21.07 ha. Actual land suitability classes of PT. Tweso Indah were not suitable  currently and the limiting suitability factors are depth (100-200 cm), flood, drainage, pH, and base saturation. The high inputs needed to increase the suitability class are compacted peat and draiage channel construction.

Abstract

Ketersediaan lahan untuk usaha pertanian merupakan syarat mutlak untuk mewujudkan swasembada, ketahanan, mandirian, dan kedaulatan pangan nasional. Lahan marginal kering berpotensi mendukung peningkatan produksi padi nasional. Keberadaannya menjadi solusi optimalisasi lahan kering sebagai pengganti lahan sawah yang terkonversi. Upaya menggalakkan budidaya padi gogo berpeluang besar dalam peningkatan produksi padi di Riau karena telah dibudidayakan masyarakat secara turun temurun. Budidaya padi gogo di Provinsi Riau umumnya diusahakan pada lahan marginal kering (Inceptisol, Ultisol), yang kendala utamanya adalah ketersedian air yang terbatas, kesuburan tanah rendah (terutama P terikat kuat oleh aluminium sehingga tidak tersedia), dan bahan organik rendah. Berbagai penelitian yang andal pada beberapa kondisi ketersedian air, penggunaan varietas ungggul dan dengan menerapkan teknologi tepat guna berupa pemberian bahan amelioran telah dapat mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan lahan marginal kering dan meningkatkan produktifitasnya. Selanjutnya untuk keberlangsungan budidaya padi gogo di lahan marginal kering tergantung pada konsistennya pemerintah pusat maupun daerah dalam menerapkan UU Nomor 41 Tahun 2009 tentang Perlindungan Lahan Pertanian Pangan Berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Oil palm is one of Indonesia’s main commodities that play a role in the growth of the national economy. It has a considerable contribution in generating foreign exchange and employment. Development of Indonesia’s CPO processing industry and its derivatives is in line with the growth of plantation area and production of oil palm as a source of raw materials. Until 2011, Indonesia’s oil palm plantation area reached 2,103,175 ha with an FFB production of 36,809,252 tons. Meanwhile, oil palm mill (OPM) processing capacity was 30,019,200 tons only. The analysis showed the regional carrying capacity (RCC) was 1.584. Each FFB should be processed in less than 8 hours or RCC for OPM must be smaller than 1 (RCC, 1). Higher production of oil palm plantations in Riau is the potency to increase the OPM. The results of calculations by land development and farm productivity, Riau region is still lacking of 16 OPM units with a capacity of 60 tons / hour or identical to 21 OPM units at a capacity of 45 tons / hour. The deficiency in OPM impacts the price and income of oil palm farmers in rural areas. High demand for OPM in Riau is a business opportunity for investors to develop an OPM and industry of products derived from oil palm.

Abstract

Friendly peatland utilization is often regarded as ‘difficult’, ‘adding new cost,” and ‘unfavorable’ to the cultivated crops. Such views appear to restrain farmers in general to adopt friendlier methods in utilizing peatlands. In response to the call for improving their practices farmers often demand proven peat-friendly but profittable practices. Therefore, convincing evidences, such as successful farmers with such practices as models, are needed. In one of villages in Siak regency, Riau Province, we encountered a farmer figure that is potentially promoted as a model in this regard. However, after evaluating what he really practiced, we found that some improvements were needed to make his practices truly peat friendlier. Our paper concerns the results of our interactions with this figure in order to improve the: (a) control of groundwater level; (b) prevention of peat decomposition; (c) prevention of peat subsidence; (d) reduction of carbon emission; (e) diversification of the farm’s products; (f) aesthetic value of the farm; and (g) promotion to potential visitors and market the farm’s products.

Abstract

Oil palm is a plantation crop that plays a strategic role in the Indonesian economy because this commodity has bright prospects as a source of foreign exchange. The experiment aims to know the effect of interaction giving NPK fertilizer and rice husk compost and get the best combination dose for the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design factorial with two factors, such as factor of NPK fertilizer (P) which consists of three extents, that are NPK 0 g/plant, NPK 12,5 g/plant, and NPK 25 g/plant. The second factor is rice husk compost (K) which consists of 4 extents that are rice husk compost 0 g/plant, rice husk compost 150 g/plant, rice husk compost 250 g/plant and rice husk compost 350 g/plant. The parameters observed included an increase in seedling height, an increase in stem diameter, an increase in leaf number, root volume, seed dry weight, and root crown ratio. The results showed that the application of NPK fertilizer and rice husk compost was able to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. The application of NPK fertilizer and rice husk compost significantly increased the increase in plant height, wee diameter, leaf number, root volume, plant dry weight, and seedling root crown ratio. The combination of NPK fertilizer application according to the recommended dose (25 g/plants) and 250 g of rice husk compost per plant gave the best results for the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery

Abstract

Potensi Pengembangan program pemberdayaan masyarakat harus berorientasi meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dengan menggunakan sumber daya yang ada. Program harus mempertimbangkan keunggulan yang dimiliki oleh suatu daerah. Oleh karena itu penting untuk melakukan analisis potensi desa sebelum mengambangkan sebuah program pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Kuliah Kerja Nyata (Kukerta) merupakan salah satu bentuk program pengabdian masyaraat yang dimotori oleh mahasiswa dan dibimbing langsung oleh Dosen Pembimbing Lapangan. Dari tahun ke tahun program Kukerta terus berkembang menyesuaikan kondisi yang ada. Dalam rangka untuk memasimalkan rancangan program yang dilaksanakan, perlu dilakukan analisis potensi desa terlebih dahulu. Dalam melaksanakan analisis potensi desa, focus pemetaan akan dilaksanakan pada sector (a) perkebunan dan pangan, (b) pariwisata, (c) tambang dan energi, (d) industry, serta (e) kesehatan. Lima indicator tersebut dijadikan sebagai acuan untuk penyusunan program. Data diperoleh melalui survey oleh mahasiswa Kukerta pada tahun 2022. Setelah itu data akan ditabulasi dan dipetakan untuk kemudian dijadikan bahan penyusunan model yang baru.

Abstract

Lahan gambut memiliki karakteristik tanah dengan keasaman tinggi dan tingkat kesuburan yang rendah. Namun kurangnya nutrisi pada lahan gambut juga menyebabkan kondisi shrubby pada akasia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian pupuk Zincobor dan kombinasi Zincobor + Dolomit terhadap kelurusan batang dan tinggi tanaman akasia. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan nested design dengan lima ulangan dan empat perlakuan, yaitu kontrol, zincobor 20 g, zincobor 20 g + dolomit 250 g, dan zincobor 30 g. Pemberian pupuk dilakukan 1x dan dilakukan pengamatan pada hari ke – 0, 131, 355 setelah pengaplikasian pupuk. Uji kualitas tanah berdasarkan pH, tanah gambut memiliki pH yang rendah yaitu 3,41 – 3,7. Selain itu kandungan unsur mikro seperti Zink, Cu, dan Boron termasuk rendah. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, pemberian pupuk Zincobor dengan dosis 20 g menunjukkan nilai kelurusan yang diharapkan paling tinggi dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. zincobor 20 g juga mampu meningkatkan ketinggian tanaman Akasia dan menurunkan potensi shrubby pada tanaman. Penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa Zincobor 20 g merupakan dosis pupuk Zincobor yang optimum untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman akasia.
