Abstract

School atmosphere in pandemic era mostly different with the normal one. An alternative to ensure learning process done by using online learning. But many teacher was not familiar with this type of learning approach. It is an extraneous because teacher never used it before. By workshop supported by devotee, teachers design an alternative. Some free software discuss during socialization, they are edmodo for moving offline class into virtual class, wonderful filmora for creating and editing video, quizzes and kahoot for quiz. The workshop is categorized success, based on teachers' respon which is collected using open questionnaire in every meetings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the ability of mathematics olympiad coaches through the edmodo platform, and to find out the satisfaction of Bukittinggi junior high school mathematics teachers in fostering mathematics olympiads with the edmodo application. The target audience for the service is mathematics teachers in the Subject Teachers' Consultation (MGMP) at Bukittiggi Junior High School Mathematics. This training stage begins online with workshops from home, giving out questionnaires, administering tests, then followed by giving Edmodo platform skills, strengthening math olympiad training materials, and offline discussion sessions in the Edmodo class. The results of the training implementation showed that the mastery of Mathematics teachers in junior high schools in Bukittinggi City on the Olympic material through the tests given on the Edmodo platform was 76%, meaning that teachers who participated in this activity were able to conduct mathematics Olympiad coaching with the Edmodo application. While the results of the participant satisfaction questionnaire were 81.27% participants had good satisfaction with the training activities carried out.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to improve teacher skills in managing student interactions and learning activities in online learning using the Padlet application. This PKM is based on obstacles in online learning faced by teachers, namely difficulties in supervising and ensuring students learn, observing students and limited opportunities to respond to students. This PKM was carried out for five months involving 28  teachers of sekolah pembanguan laboratorium, Universitas Negeri Padang. PKM activities include, 1) socialization and training, 2) dissemination, 4) teacher implementation and reflection. After participating in this PKM, both as a model teacher and as a learning observer, the teacher claimed to have gained knowledge and skills in managing interactions and online learning activities which was marked by the opening of opportunities for teachers to supervise and observe student learning activities and provide responses to students. This makes interaction and learning activities increase so that online learning becomes more lively and interesting. As a follow-up to this PKM, most teachers expect a sustainable mentoring program.Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam mengelola interaksi dan aktivitas belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran daring dengan menggunakan aplikasi Padlet. PKM ini didasari oleh kendala dalam pembelajaran daring yang dihadapi guru yaitu kesulitan dalam mengawasi dan memastikan siswa belajar, mengobservasi siswa dan terbatasnya kesempatan untuk memberikan respon kepada siswa. PKM ini dilakukan selama lima bulan dengan melibatkan 28 orang guru sekolah pembangunan laboratorium Universitas Negeri Padang. Kegiatan PKM meliputi, 1) sosialisasi dan pelatihan, 2) diseminasi, 4) implementasi oleh guru dan refleksi. Setelah mengikuti PKM inibaik sebagai guru model maupun observer pembelajaran, guru mengaku mendapatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengelola interaksi dan aktivitas belajar daring yang ditandai dengan terbukanya kesempatan bagi guru untuk mengawasi dan mengobservasi aktivitas belajar siswa serta memberi respon kepada siswa. Hal ini membuat interaksi dan aktivitas belajar meningkat sehingga pembelajaran daring menjadilebih hidup dan menarik. Sebagai tindak lanjut PKM ini, sebagian besar guru mengharapkan adanya program pendampingan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in the mathematics education study program in the secondary school mathematics curriculum review course. This research was conducted by giving quiz questions in the form of descriptions to a class of students who were then analyzed the answers. The results of the student's answer analysis show that the students' mathematical reasoning ability is still low. The low level of students' mathematical reasoning skills in general lies in the ability of students to analyze problems, make conjectures, determine relationships between variables, and identify links between processes or concepts in a given case. So that many answers from students are not logical and wrong in concluding.

Abstract

The most essential thing in mathematics is proof, it makes mathematics being different with other subjects. One of subject in mathematics that always need prove to understand the concept is abstract algebra. In studying abstract algebra, student need various abstract concepts to include in its concepts. It is hard for student to understand the structures in abstract algebra and prove some of mathematical object that satisfy the structures. Group and its properties is the first structure in abstract algebra that has an abstract concept. It is hard for student to understand some objects, that is proven satisfy a structure and why the proof steps just flow. By giving explanation and reason in every proofing step, we try to increase student proving level and reduce the abstraction level of the concepts. To see how this module reduces the abstraction level in teaching group, this module is applied to university students and evaluated by interviewing and questionnaires to the students. Base on student response and by some perspectives, student proving ability increase and the abstraction level of the concept is diminished in some aspects.

Abstract

Pentingnya menguasai kemampuan pemecahan masalah bagi siswa tidak hanya menjadi tujuan pembelajaran matematika tetapi siswa yang terampil dalam menyelesaikan masalah diprediksi akan berhasil dan sukses dalam abad 21 ini. Akan tetapi berdasarkan riset-riset sebelumnya, disimpulkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa masih rendah. Padahal kemampuan ini menjadi dasar bernalar dan berfikir kritis. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis keterampilan berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika berbasiskan langkah-langkah pemecahan masalah menurut Polya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian campuran (mixed method research) yang mengkombinasikan penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Desain yang digunakan adalah concurrent embedded/nested design. Instrumen data kuantitatif berupa soal tes dan data kualitatif berupa observasi dan wawancara. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 3 kelas X IPA SMAN Padang yang berjumlah 103 orang. Kesimpulan penelitian yaitu: (1) siswa cukup terampil menggunakan langkah Polya dalam berpikir memecahkan masalah matematis dengan kemampuan rata-rata tes 51,21; (2)  indikator yang pencapaiannya paling rendah 16,75 pada indikator 4 dan paling tinggi 66,26 pada indikator 1; dan (4) disarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya mengembangkan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa lebih lanjut dalam bentuk Computational Thinking (kemampuan berpikir komputasi).

Abstract

The development of a community-based tourism village gives wider authority to the community to manage the potential of their village and has an impact on improving the economy and sustainable development. The purpose of this research was to find a community-based tourism development model in Nagari Koto Sani which has natural and cultural potential as a tourism village. This qualitative approach of research collects data through observation, interviews, focused discussions and documentation studies. The data is then analyzed using qualitative analysis with triangulation, so that the data obtained is valid and saturated. The results of the research show that the development model of community-based tourism village consists of three main stages, i.e., planning, implementation and reflection. Activities at the planning stage include, 1) identification of the potential of the village (Nagari), 2) focused discussions regarding the views and aspirations of the community, 3) preparation of the RIPPDES draft, 4) focused discussions regarding familiarization of the tourism village program. Then, the activities at the implementation stage are 1) community awareness, 2) strengthening local resources, 3) cooperation between stakeholders, and 4) tourism village promotion. Finally, at the reflection stage, the activities carried out are 1) observation and monitoring, 2) follow-up plans.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya kemampuan Higher Order Thinking  Skills (HOTS) siswa  Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Profesionalisme guru sangat erat kaitannya  dengan  HOTS siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis profesionalisme guru dalam membuat soal HOTS sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan pelatihan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey. Tujuh belas guru dari 11 SMP se-Kecamatan Padang Utara, Sumatera Barat dijadikan sebagai subjek penelitian. Awalnya guru diminta membuat soal HOTS sebelum diberikan pelatihan. Selanjutnya, para pakar memberikan pelatihan dalam perancangan soal HOTS. Soal HOTS yang disusun oleh guru dianalisis sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti pelatihan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa 41% guru yang mampu membuat soal HOTS sebelum diberikan pelatihan. Soal HOTS yang dibuat oleh guru masih belum benar, karena kata kerja operasional pada soal masih berada pada level C1–C2. Semua guru dapat membuat soal HOTS setelah diberikan pelatihan. Dari semua guru, 30 % guru mampu memahami sebagian materi pelatihan dan mampu membuat soal HOTS namun masih belum benar dan 70 % guru mampu memahami materi pelatihan dan  mampu membuat soal HOTS dengan benar.Kata Kunci: Higher Order Thinking Skills, Guru, Sekolah Menengah Pertama.

Abstract

This research includes ex post facto correlation research, which aims to determine the correlation of the independent (free) variable, namely Indonesian Language Literacy (X), with the dependent variable (tied), namely Mathematical Numerical Literacy (Y). The research was conducted in the January-June 2023 semester in 1 class VIII containing 30 students at a junior high school in Padang. Data was collected by testing one-story test questions. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and hypothesis testing. The correlation coefficient value of Indonesian language literacy with the mathematical numeracy literacy variable is "positive 0.953". So that the relationship/correlation of the two variables is categorized as significant, vital, and in the same direction, this can be interpreted that if the Indonesian language literacy of class VIII students in the sample increases, the numeracy literacy of students in solving math problems will also increase, and vice versa. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian korelasi expost facto yang bertujuan mengetahui korelasi  variabel independen (bebas) yaitu Literasi Bahasa Indonesia (X) dengan variabel dependen (terikat) yaitu Literasi Numerasi Matematika (Y). Penelitian dilakukan semester Januari-Juni 2023 pada 1 kelas VIII berisi 30 siswa pada suatu SMP di kota Padang. Dikumpulkan data dengan mengujikan 1 soal tes cerita. Teknik pengambilan sampelnya purposive sampling. Data dianalisis dengan uji normalitas Kolmogorov Smirnov dan uji hipotesis menggunakan Korelasi Spearman Rank. Nilai koefisien korelasi literasi bahasa Indonesia dengan variabel literasi numerasi matematika bernilai “positif 0,953”. Sehingga hubungan/korelasi kedua variabel tersebut dikategorikan signifikan, kuat, dan searah. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa jika literasi bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas VIII pada sampel semakin meningkat maka literasi numerasi matematika siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika juga akan semakin meningkat, begitu pula sebaliknya.

Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) is a further development which is the latest innovation in mathematical problem-solving skills. Four foundations of CT make it easier for someone to solve problems effectively, efficiently, and optimally. This mixed methods research with an embedded design. Quantitative data were collected using tests and qualitative data through written interviews and an overview of the prospective teacher's thought processes in answering tests. The sample that became the research subject was selected using the purposive sampling method by selecting 28 pre-service teacher's mathematics in Professional Teacher Education (PTE) who attended CT lectures. The object of this research is the 4 CT foundations of prospective teachers in solving math problems. This study describes how CT skills solve problems. The test results show that the percentage of correct answers for each of the four CT foundations is more than 80%. It can be concluded that the knowledge and understanding of Computational Thinking for 21st-century professional teacher candidates in terms of 4 CT foundations are categorized as "very high". Based on the description of the student's answers, it was also concluded that the CT foundation is indeed the basis for thought processes in solving problems. It is the advantage of Computational Thinking.
