Abstract

Education is emphasized to grow the tools offered by the 4.0 to create the teaching-learning process more practical and adapted to the social demands. This research aims at finding the students' perception on the teaching method by multimodal approach which is focused on the construction of verbal texts and visual texts. The subject of this research is the students of the sixth semester in English Department of the HKBP Nommensen University Medan. This experiment research is applied by multimodal approach which is focused on the construction of verbal texts and visual texts and continued by questionnaires. The implementation of teaching with a multimodal approach which is focused by verbal and visual tends to motivate students’ interest in speaking English. The result of the score achieved by the students with 73.33 percent is relevant to the students’ motivation with 86.67 percent by the mean of test score in 76.73. This is the one of evidence shows that creativity of the lecturer by multimodal approach by which the digital play makes a huge manner in the interest subject to be lectured.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' ability to write an essay in the descriptive text genre. Descriptive text is a genre that serves to explain something to the reader through writing. To make it easier for researchers to conduct research, researchers use the CAR (Classroom Action Research) method to make it easier for researchers to be closer to the sample. The sample in this study were students of SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan with a total of 30 students. Researchers have conducted research with five meetings in four stages, namely planning, and observing. action, and reflection. Quantitative and Qualitative data are tools used in collecting data. Quantitatively, the value of the students' descriptive text is as data, which has been carried out in two cycles. Started the pre-test with a total score of 1953,3 with an average of 64.5. In the first cycle, the total score was 2204.05 with an average of 73.4. The researcher again conducted a post-test in the second cycle to achieve the requirements for teaching success, namely 85%. In cycle 2 the total score was 2621.6 with an average of 87.3. This proves that there is a significant change in student scores using the example non-example method. Qualitative data taken from observation sheets, interviews, and writer's diaries show that it is easier for students to understand teaching and can attract students' attention with an image applicator that guides students to write an essay.

Abstract

This research focuses on knowing the effect brainstorming teaching technique in writing analytical exposition text at the Second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Lintong Nihuta. This research was conducted with an experimental quantitative design. The population of this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Lintong Nihuta. In this study the researchers took two classes as samples. They were 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. Data collection techniques are tests and documentation. The researcher used the T-test statistical calculation to analyze the data. The tests used were pre-test and post-test for both classes. The results showed that the average pre-test value of the experimental class was 51,8. Meanwhile, the control class was 40,00. while the post-test average value of the experimental class was 78. Meanwhile, the control class was 45,9. That is, the average post-test score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The results of the t-test calculation show that the t-test value is higher than the t-table value. The t-test value is 17,387 while the t-table value with db:38 which is included in the db=40 category is 2.21. This means that there is a significant the effect of brainstorming technique in writing Analytical exposition Text So, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.

Abstract

This research research is aimed to find out the types of error on the using verb form of simple past tense in narrative text and dominant error made by eighth grade of SMP N 2 Pollung. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from students writing test on narrative text. The writing test was used to measure each student's level of learning in writing and to find out the types of students' errors. The participants were 15 students in the eighth grade of SMP N 2 Pollung. The findings of this research indicated that there were 95 total errors that students made which were classified into four categories based on the surface strategy taxonomy. Those were error of omission with 29 errors, error of addition with 13 errors, misformation with 49 errors and misordering with 4 errors. The students made the dominant error in misformation category. It can be seen from the percentage result where misformation were 52%, then followed by error of omission with 13%, error of addition with 14% and misordering with 4%.

Abstract

Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif dan teks prosedur. Data diambil dari tes menulis siswa pada teks deskriptif dan prosedur dan dilakukan. Tes menulis digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat belajar menulis setiap siswa dan untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan siswa. Pesertanya adalah 15 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Percut Sei Tuan. Dari hasil tes menulis yang dilakukan siswa, dalam teks deskriptif, penulis menemukan 129 kesalahan dalam data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 71 kesalahan kategori omission, 22 kesalahan kategori penambahan, 23 kesalahan kategori misformation dan 13 kesalahan kategori misordering. Dalam penulisan teks prosedur, penulis menemukan 92 yang terdiri dari 29 kesalahan kategori penghilangan, 47 kesalahan kategori penambahan, 2 kesalahan kategori kesalahan pembentukan dan kesalahan kategori kesalahan susunan.

Abstract

English Textbook of Vocational High School in terms needs to be assessed for their relevance of the hard skills and soft skills. This research aims to cultivate the integration of moral values found on the ELT textbook of Vocational High School at the grade of X, XI and XII. This research method is a qualitative descriptive research method in the Critical Discourse Analysis of the verbal and visual image. The moral values found on book declares that the respect for other of being friendly occurs in 17.5 %. The book tendency occurs on the social sensitivity which occurs in 7%. Furthermore, the moral value in regarding the students’ hard skill depicts the Creativity with 6.8 %. This indicates that, the fifth sense of Pancasila keadilan social bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia is clearly found on the book. In addition, the are some meanings implied explicitly on the textbook based on the visual image cultivate the character building in social sensitivity which has an effect to human’s daily life. The study conveys that, the respect for other of being friendly is more emphasized in the ELT textbook. Meanwhile, social creativity in this book is more emphasized with the visual image model. The ELT textbook design of vocational high school provides a lot of very significant insight into students' abilities to learn English as a foreign language the content, topics, use of grammar and methodology reflect moral content, conveying many moral messages such as information about culture, beliefs, and social morals

Abstract

Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan III yang merupakan salah satu bentuk pelaksanaan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) yang berupa asistensi mengajar untuk memberdayakan mahasiswa dalam membantu proses pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar di berbagai Desa/Kota, salah satunya adalah di UPT SPF SD Sibolangit, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Pada program ini, mahasiswa yang terlibat memiliki tanggung jawab dalam membantu pihak sekolah pada proses mengajar, membantu adaptasi teknologi, dan membantu administrasi. Selain itu, mahasiswa memiliki tanggungjawab dalam memperbaiki karakter siswa dan meningkatkan minat belajar siswa selama masa pandemi ini. Hasil dari Program ini yakni sebagai penanaman empati dan kepekaan sosial pada diri mahasiswa terhadap permasalahan kehidupan masyarakat yang ada di sekitarnya; mengasah keterampilan berpikir dalam bekerja bersama lintas bidang ilmu dan ragam asal mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi; mengembangkan wawasan, karakter dan Soft Skills mahasiswa; mendorong dan memacu pembangunan nasional dengan menumbuhkan motivasi masyarakat untuk berpartisipasi dalam pembangunan; serta meningkatkan peran dan kontribusi nyata perguruan tinggi dan mahasiswa dalam pembangunan nasional. Penguatan literasi,numerasi, dan adaptasi teknologi merupakan usaha yang penting dilakukan dalammeningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia di Era Digitaldan EraDisrupsi. Indonesia berada sangat jauh tertinggal dari negara-negara lainnya dalamhal kemampuan tersebut. Pemerintah dan juga pihak terkait (Sekolah, Perguruan Tinggi, Lembaga Penjamin Mutu Pendidikan, dan Orang Tua) harus berperan serta dalam penguatan literasi,numerasi, dan adaptasi teknologi bagi Peserta didik dan juga pendidik di Indonesia. Kata kunci: Kampus Mengajar, Karakter Siswa, Literasi ,Numerasi dan Adaptasi Teknologi.

Abstract

The Audio Lingual (MAL) method refers to a very large learning competence in the ability to speak English. PPA Filadelpia Medan Foundation is an educational foundation that is oriented towards the progress of students to make children who are moral and achievers. This foundation also accommodates the children of the community who have a weak or underprivileged economy. Teachers who teach students have been set to become teachers who have a holistic spirit and dreams. Teachers who teach English and non-English subjects are very interested in learning English in order to develop their students. The trainer for Community Service Activities has a big heart to develop this foundation through English speaking training for teachers and foundation employees. The results conclude that the implementation of PKM activities starts from May 2021 to July 2021 for 12 times with meeting times with a total of 16 participants with system clusters. The Audio Lingual (MAL) method with a combination of Screen Cast O Matic becomes an instrument to carry out face-to-face training and online learning. The results of the observations prove that under the answers and learning outcomes through the audio lingual approach there is a tendency to learn, speak English and explore sources and information that are shown. This is evidenced by the statements of the respondents to prepare them in the world market which must be full of creativity that is flexible, directed, and achieved with high quality

Abstract

Tutorial Learning in education is a part of creativity to increase an innovative and adaptive in learning systems by which the curriculum applied through the teaching learning process. In concerned to global demand as the digital base of manner in academics, the students and lecturers of the Faculty of Teacher Training, University of HKBP Nommen Medan carried out Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) entitled "Program of Learning Tutorial of Bahasa Indonesia, Mathematics, Social Sciences, and English in SD Negeri 035950 Silencer, Dairi Regency. This tutorial learning was aimed at the encouragement and the improvement of the quality of the teaching and learning process which is ultimately expected to the increase of the academic achievement on students’ perceptions in accordance to their respective efforts and abilities. Having done the tutorial learning, students are more enthusiastic about doing school assignments well and no tasks are neglected because of the guidance. In addition, participants' understanding of the subject matter at school was further increased by the material being taught during class meetings

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan faktor yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan manusia, seiring meningkatnya tuntutan di era modern, mahasiswa bersama dosen Fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendididkan universitas HKBP Nommensen melakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) yang berjudul Penerapan Metode Pembelajaran Kreatif dengan Media Pembelajaran Scratch untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung anak usia 9-12 tahun di Desa Sarimattin. Adapun tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualiats proses belajar mengajar yang kreatif dan inovatif, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan prestasi akademik anak-anak sesuai dengan upaya dan kemampuan masing-masing. Setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran kreatif dengan bantuan media scratch anak-anak lebih semangat mengikuti pembelajaran dan mengerjakan tugas-tugas sekolah, serta pemahaman terhadap materi yang diajarkan sekolah lebih meningkat dengan adanya pembelajaran dengan metode kreatif yang dijelaskan saat pertemuan.
