Abstract

This study aimed to find out the types of impoliteness strategies based on Jonathan Culpeper theory, and the dominant impoliteness strategies that used by the netizen on Nadiem Makarim’s Instagram post about online policy. This study was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data was taken from comments column posted by netizens on Nadiem Makarim’s Instagram Account. The technique for analyzing the data is qualitative research. The results of this research showed that there are four impoliteness are used, which are Bald on Record, Positive Impoliteness, Negative Impoliteness, and Sarcasm/Mock Politeness. There were 80 comments. In total there are 4 comments on Bald on Record (5%), 36 comments on Positive Impoliteness (45%), 28 comments on Negative Impoliteness (35%) and 12 comments on Sarcasm/Mock Politeness (15%). Based on the comments that have been analyzed, the researcher concluded that the dominant Impoliteness Strategies that is used by netizens was Positive Impoliteness. The researcher found that the netizens mostly used positive impoliteness to express their negative attitude on giving online comments on Nadiem Makarim’s Instagram Account. The reason could be, that in comparison to other strategies, these have a large number of sub- strategies that support positive and negative impoliteness strategies, such as ignore, uncaring, seek disagreement, scom, ridicule the other, frighten, and so on.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' ability to write an essay in the descriptive text genre. Descriptive text is a genre that serves to explain something to the reader through writing. In order to make it easier for researchers to conduct research, researchers use the CAR (Classroom Action Research) method to make it easier for researchers to be closer to the sample. The sample in this study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Baktiraja with a total of 35 students. Researchers have conducted research with five meetings in four stages, namely planning, observing, action, and reflection. Quantitative and Qualitative data are tools used in collecting data. Quantitatively, the value of the students' descriptive text is as data, which has been carried out in two cycles. Started pre-test with a total score of 1927.5 with an average of 55.07. In the first cycle, the total score was 2460 with an average of 70.28 . The researcher again conducted a post test in the second cycle in order to achieve the requirements for teaching success, namely 85%. In cycle 2 the total score was 2880.5 with an average of 82.3. This proves that there is a significant change in student scores using the Visual Picture Sequences. Qualitative data taken from observation sheets, interviews and writer's diaries show that it is easier for students to understand teaching and can attract students' attention with an image applicator that guides students to write an essay

Abstract

This study aimed to know the English Department students’ perception toward teaching skills through the implementation of Kampus Mengajar program. There were 26 of the English Department students. This study used a descriptive qualitative design. The researcher used questionnaire to collect the data, the Likert Scale. The result of this study showed that the English Department students’ perception are positive, as many as 15 students (55,77%) of the 26 English Department students, this shows that more than half of the English Department students’ perception related to skills of opening and closing the lesson, 14 students (53,85%)related to explaining skills, 15 students (55,77%) related to variation skills, 13 students (51,92%) related to questioning skills, 13 students (51,28%) related to reinforcement skills, 17 students (64,10%) related to class management skills, 13 students (50%) related to small group teaching skills, and 15 students (55,77%) related to skills of guide small group discussion. Abstract

Kajian metafora dan metonimi dalam perluasan iklan Gudang Garam baik secara visual dan verbal menyampaikan berbagai pemahaman. Penelitian difokuskan pada penggunaan metaforisasi dan metonimisasi dalam iklan Gudang Garam. Dalam iklan Gudang Garam tersebut termuat nyalakan merahmu yang dirujuk untuk menarik perhatian banyak pendengar maupun pembaca. Ekspresi nyalakan merahmu yang terdiri dari dua kata namun bisa menyampaikan konseptual yang berfungsi untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman yang lebih luas. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Prosedur penentuan metafora dan metonimi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah prosedur MIPVU (Steen, 2015). Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran keseluruhan yang koheren tentang mengapa banyak metafora yang dapat diartikan sebagai metonimi dan mengapa banyak metonimi dapat dianggap sebagai metafora. Alasannya tampaknya, dalam kasus metafora korelasional, antara nonfiguratif dan tahap metafora ada tahap metonimik. Diberikan bingkai di mana korelasi berlaku antara dua elemen, harus ada hubungan metonimi yang sebelumnya logis antara elemen-elemen tersebut sebelum satu elemen dipindahkan dari kerangka awal untuk membentuk kerangka baru dan independen. Bingkai, yang akan membentuk sumber metafora atau target. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah metafora berbasis korelasi muncul dari representasi konteks dan teks sebagai mental seperti bingkai konkordansi yang memiliki padanan makna yang berbeda sesuai dengan tahap metonimik.tentang konseptual metafora dan metonimi khususnya dalam pembuatan iklan maupun pemberian informasi.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of figurative language used in the album Healer by Casting Crowns and the dominant types of figurative language found in the album. The method used in this research is the descriptive-qualitative method. This research uses Harun's theory (2019). The researcher found seven types of figurative language used in the album Healer by Casting Crowns, such as hyperbole, irony, metaphor, personification, simile, litotes, metonymy and Synecdoche. This study aims data was collected by reading the lyrics of the album song Healer by Casting Crowns. On the album Healer by Casting Crowns, there is hyperbole (7 data points), personification (1 data ), and irony (1 data ), Sarcasm (0), Synecdoche (3 data), Satire (1 data), Metaphor (0 data), Metonymy (18 data), Simile (0 data), and Litotes (1 data). This study found that the most dominant types of figurative language were metonymy with a percentage of 56.25%, followed by hyperbole with a percentage of 21.85%, personification (3.13%), irony (3.13%), sarcasm (0%), synecdoche (9.38%), satire (3.13%), metaphor (0%), metonymy (56.25%), simile (0%), and litotes (3.13%). Of these percentages, researchers can conclude that the most dominant data is metonymy (56.25%), and the smallest are three types of figurative language, namely sarcasm (0%), metaphor (0%), and simile (0%). Abstract

This article discusses grammatical relations in Toba Batak language. Toba Batak language has formal markings, both predicates and arguments that show the relationship between clause elements, and the coding of words in the language. arguments are integrated syntactically. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Qualitative is used to investigate an issue in order to gain a clear understanding of a particular phenomenon. The main data of this research are sentences. Sentence data in this study were obtained through traditional Toba Batak documents, namely 'marhata sinamot' which is commonly used Grammatical relations have an important role and function to identify the correctness of the syntactic process because they are considered to connect arguments with clauses. The grammatical relationship and the semantic role of the Toba Batak language are S = A/P and S = P/A. That is, the Toba Batak language treats S as A and S as P. A language is said to be of ergative type if the patient (P) of a transitive verb is treated with or coreferential with the subject (S) in an intransitive clause and different from the agent (A) of the verb transitive.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui teknik dan metode penerjemahan apa yang digunakan oleh penerjemah dalam film tersebut dan mengumpulkan data bahwa penulis mengambil seluruh subtitle dan membuat transkrip subtitle tersebut. Penulis menganalisis satu per satu kalimat ke dalam teknik penerjemahan atau metode penerjemahan sehingga diperoleh hasil. Setelah dianalisa penulis menemukan 7 teknik penerjemahan dan 4 metode penerjemahan dalam film Tinkerbell the Pirate Fairy yang merupakan teknik penerjemahan yang penulis temukan 7 teknik penerjemahan dan 4 metode penerjemahan dalam film Tinkerbell the Pirate Fairy yang merupakan Teknik penerjemahan yang penulis temukan adalah terjemahan kompensasi ditemukan 2 kali (1%), terjemahan literal ditemukan 85 kali (61%), modulasi ditemukan 4 kali (3%), reduksi ditemukan 7 kali (6%), amplifikasi ditemukan 31 kali (22). %), variasi ditemukan 2 kali (1%) dan calque ditemukan 7 kali (6%). Dan metode penerjemahan yang penulis temukan adalah penerjemahan kata demi kata ditemukan sebanyak 66 kali (53,70%), Terjemahan Bebas ditemukan sebanyak 31 kali (22%), Terjemahan Setia ditemukan sebanyak 26 kali (19%) dan Terjemahan Idiomatik ditemukan sebanyak 15 kali (11). %).

Abstract

Penelitian ini berkaitan dengan analisis tindak tutur direktif dari tuturan guru BK selama proses pembelajaran. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tindak tutur direktif guru terhadap penguatan karakter siswa dan jenis tindak tutur direktif guru yang paling dominan terhadap penguatan karakter siswa. Desain penelitian penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Ruang lingkup penelitian ini adalah fokus pada tindak tutur direktif. Penulis mengambil data dari ucapan-ucapan guru bimbingan dan konseling selama proses pembelajaran. Data penelitian ini adalah tipe urutan sajian frekuensi dominan dari kedua belas tipe tindak tutur direktif. Tindak tutur direktif menurut Searle & Vanderveken, (1985:37) menyatakan bahwa tindak tutur direktif mempunyai maksud adalah berusaha menyuruh orang lain melakukan sesuatu. Mereka mengungkapkan apa yang diinginkan pembicara. Dari analisis tersebut peneliti menemukan hasil; Terdapat 148 data atau ujaran dengan 12 jenis tindak tutur direktif yang diwujudkan sebagai berikut: memerintahkan 21 ucapan (14.18%), menceritakan 16 ucapan (10.81%), meminta 15 ucapan (10.13%), mengarahkan 14 ucapan (9.45%), melarang 14 ucapan (9,45%), melarang 14 ucapan (9,45%), menasihati 13 ucapan (8,78%), meminta 13 ucapan (8,78%), menyarankan 10 ucapan (6,75%), mendesak 8 ucapan (5,40%), memperingatkan 6 ucapan (4,05%), dan merekomendasikan 4 ungkapan (2,70%). Dan jenis tindak tutur direktif yang paling dominan digunakan guru BK dalam proses belajar mengajar adalah perintah dengan jumlah tuturan sebanyak 21 kali (14,18%).

Abstract

Kampus Mengajar merupakan bagian dari program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Salah satu tujuan dari program MBKM yaitu meningkatkan kompetensi Hardskill dan Softskill. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dampak yang diperoleh mahasiswa peserta program Kampus Mengajar  terhadap kemampuan Hardskills-Sostskills. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptive.  Data diperolah dengan melakukan survei menggunakan kuisioner online terhadap 140 mahasiswa FKIP universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan yang pernah mengikuti program Kampus Mengajar. Alat bantu yang dibuat untuk mengukur peningkatan soft skill dan hard skill mahasiswa yang mengikuti program MBKM dengan 5 indikator untuk hard skills yang dibahas dalam studi ini meliputi: (1) empati, (2) kemampuan bersosialisasi, (3) kemampuan menggunakan teknologi, (4) pemikiran kreatif dan inovatif, dan (5) kemampuan menulis dan mengadakan riset. Sementara untuk soft skill yaitu: (1) kemampuan komunikasi, (2) kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah, (3) kreativitas, (4) kemampuan menyelesaikan konflik, dan (5) kesadaran budaya lain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan 96% keterampilan siswa dengan indikator tertinggi kreativitas dan inovasi hidup dan soft skill dengan indikator tertinggi kreativitas berpikir 96,3%.

Abstract

This research is described to classify cohesive devices and contextualize the cohesive devices on the English Students Writing at HKBP Nommensen University Medan. There is a role that creates importance and urgency regarding the development of writing skills which can be considered a mode related to problems that often arise in writing. Classification and contextualization are polarities for determining the type of text as student writing. Research that applies qualitative methods is considered scientifically to obtain more valid results. The subjects of this study were 50 students on the sixth semester of English Education with research locations at HKBP Nommensen University, Medan. Specifically, for situational context and cohesive devices, the data were comprised to context A, context B and context C. Based on the research results, the classification of cohesive devices is found in varying amounts of student writing, but the totality of the use of Lexical Cohesion tends to be more dominant in student writing, especially in context A with 33 percent. Meanwhile, in context B the use of references accounts for 28 percent of student writing. Context becomes the prompt performance in the teaching process including cohesive devices and context formed by teacher-student interactions in the classroom
