Abstract

The phenomenon that occurs is that students' interest begins to decrease while undergoing learning activities. This was followed by a decrease in motivation in students. This is due to the minimal use of media by teachers. This study aims to determine the effect of audio-visual learning media on students' learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education lessons. This research method is quantitative with a true experiment approach. The population in this study were fifth grade elementary school students, totaling 40 students. The sampling technique by means of total sampling, so that the number of samples in this study amounted to 40 students. The instrument used is a Likert model scale with five alternative answers and a questionnaire about student motivation. The validity test uses the Pearson correlation with a validity value of 0.672. The reliability test uses Cronbach's alpha, with a reliability value of 0.782. The data analysis technique used is the t-test with the help of the SPSS application. The results of the study show that the audio-visual media has a significant and positive effect on students' learning motivation.

Abstract

History subject is very urgent in social education and there are four skills that students must master in learning social education: analyzing skills, critical thinking skills, evaluating skills, and creating skills. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the flipped classroom method and learning engagement on students’ critical thinking skills in history lessons. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The used instruments in this research were observation sheets, questionnaires, and critical thinking tests. The data analysis used Two Way ANOVA.  The results showed that the flipped classroom and student engagement affect the student's critical thinking skills. Historical teachers should apply this method by building a pleasant learning atmosphere so that student engagement and critical thinking skills of a student increase.

Abstract

Pada masyarakat Korong Sigaung di Nagari Sungai Asam, Kecamatan 2x11 Enam Lingkung, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, peran UMKM berbasis digital dapat dihubungkan dengan upaya meningkatkan pendidikan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi UMKM berbasis digital sebagai sarana untuk meningkatkan pendidikan anak di masyarakat Korong Sigaung. Metode yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, survei lapangan, pelatihan, dan evaluasi partisipatif. Melalui partisipasi aktif masyarakat dan kolaborasi dengan pelaku UMKM lokal, dilakukan pelatihan mengenai pemanfaatan teknologi digital, pemasaran online, manajemen bisnis, serta pengelolaan keuangan. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi UMKM berbasis digital secara efektif mampu memberikan dampak positif pada pendidikan anak di masyarakat Korong Sigaung. Keterampilan yang diperoleh oleh pelaku UMKM lokal dalam mengelola usahanya secara digital turut meningkatkan pemasukan ekonomi keluarga, yang pada gilirannya mendukung akses pendidikan yang lebih baik bagi anak-anak. Selain itu, terciptanya jejaring kolaboratif antara UMKM dan lembaga pendidikan setempat memfasilitasi peningkatan akses informasi dan pembelajaran bagi anak-anak. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi berharga dalam merancang model berkelanjutan untuk pemberdayaan UMKM berbasis digital dalam mendukung pendidikan anak di wilayah pedesaan. Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan anak melalui pendekatan ini memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat Korong Sigaung secara keseluruhan. Namun, tantangan yang berkaitan dengan infrastruktur teknologi, literasi digital, dan pemahaman konsep bisnis tetap perlu diatasi dalam rangka menjaga keberlanjutan program ini. Abstract

Learning models can improve the quality of education. Therefore, this paper aims to prove the validity level of the problem-based contextual model in learning history through selected documentary films. This research refers to research and development. The process was used to produce and validate a product including educational products. The resulting educational product is a problem-based contextual learning model in learning history, which used ADDIE design model. The problem-based contextual model in history learning in high school is in the valid category. This model is a new learning model developed from the contextual learning model. Documentary film is one of the tools that can be used as a medium to deliver learning material. Visualization in film can make the expected atmosphere really felt and as if students are participating in the conditions in the film. In this case, the teacher has the essential role in explaining important points that become the subject of discussion so that learning a history will be more dynamic and varied. The problem-based contextual model was developed based on theoretical studies of learning theories, and also of learning values ​​to develop attitudes. The learning is based on student oriented. The problem-based contextual model consists of six syntaxes, namely: Visualization Problem, Relating, Experience, Applying, Cooperating Transferring, and Clarification.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing an Infocus projector in thematic learning to enhance the academic performance of third-grade students in an elementary school. The research was conducted at State Elementary School 01 2x11 in Kayutanam, Padang Pariaman Regency. The Infocus projector served as a supplementary tool to facilitate a more interactive visualization of the instructional material. A quantitative method with quasi-experimental approach was employed, comparing control group pre-test post-test results within the same classroom. The study's participants comprised 18 third-grade students who had previously undergone traditional instruction without the use of the Infocus projector, and later experienced lessons with the technology. Data regarding students' academic performance were collected through pre- and post-treatment assessments, with statistical tests being employed for data analysis. The inferential analysis revealed a significant difference, with a calculated t-value of 4.58, surpassing the critical t-table value of 1.73. This outcome demonstrated the effectiveness of the Infocus projector in improving student learning outcomes. Notable improvements in student performance were evident when comparing pre-test and post-test results. The descriptive analysis indicated a pre-test score of 41.11 and a post-test score of 77.5. In conclusion, the incorporation of the Infocus projector in thematic instruction had a substantial positive impact on student academic achievement. The findings underscored the educational potential of such technology, emphasizing its importance in creating more engaging and effective learning experiences for elementary school students.

Abstract

This article aims to present how the study of Minangkabau history can be utilized as a tool to enhance student motivation for learning. The research was conducted at the West Sumatra Islamic Institute (IAI Sumbar). A qualitative methodology was employed in this study to assess the extent to which students' understanding of the historical experiences and perceptions relating to the study of history impacts their motivation to learn. Participants in this research were students at IAI Sumatera Barat who were engaged in the study of Minangkabau history. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The research findings indicate that the study of Minangkabau history has a positive impact on student motivation to learn. It was observed that a deep understanding of the cultural heritage and the struggles of their ancestors in the historical study has ignited a sense of pride and cultural identity among the students. This, in turn, has sparked their interest in delving deeper into the learning materials and broadening their knowledge of local history and culture. Furthermore, the study of history is also regarded as a source of inspiration in overcoming academic challenges and cultivating perseverance in learning. In conclusion, this research suggests that the use of Minangkabau history studies as a pedagogical approach plays a significant role in building student motivation to learn at IAI Sumatera Barat.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang hendak dibahas dalam pengabdian ini memberikan edukasi kepada orang tua untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mental di Nagari Padang Bintungan Kecamatan NanSabaris Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi dalammeningkatkan kesehatan mental orang tua (Studi kasus Nagari Padang Bintungan Kecamatan Nan Sabaris Kabupaten Padang Pariaman). Metode pendekatan pengabdian ini adalah metode ceramah, demonstrasi dan latihan yang disertai tanya jawabmetode ceramah, demonstrasi dan latihan yang disertai tanya jawab. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: 1) bentuk Edukasi Spritual untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mental orang tua di Nagari Padang Bintungan Kecamatan Nan Sabaris Kabupaten Padang Pariaman dapat dilakukan dengan memberikan nasihat-nasihat islami, , hal ini dapat dilihat dari minimnya pengetahuan para orang tua tentang perannya sebagai orang tua menurut syariat islam, sehingga mereka membutuhkan nasihat-nasihat islami apalagikendala mereka yang sulit menjaga kesehatan mental dikarenakan terbatasnya waktu dan kesibukan orang tua dalam kehidupan sehari- hari, serta kurangnya wawasan dan pengalaman yang dimiliki oleh orang tua, sehingga mereka kurang mampu mengontrol, mengawasi serta mengendalikan segala kegiatan serta aktivitas anak di kehidupan sehari-hari. 2) beberapa faktor yang mengganggu kesehatan mental orang tua adalah kesibukan orang tua dalam bekerja sehari-hari, masuknya berbagai budaya baru pengaruh dunia yang sering disebut dengan milenial.Sebagai contoh yang ditemukan oleh peneliti yaitu adanya teknologi seperti televisi, internet, handphone yang memiliki konten-konten yang barbau pornografi atau game online.

Abstract

This Community Service Writing (PKM) discusses the development of a field lecture program to Batusangkar, a historic area with rich Minangkabau culture and strong Islamic values. This program is part of an effort to increase students' understanding of Islam and Minangkabau Culture at the West Sumatra Islamic Institute (IAI). The method used in this service is participatory action research. The service team consists of West Sumatra IAI lecturers and students who are involved in program planning, implementation and evaluation. For two days, 92 students from 6 study programs were invited to take part in field lecture activities that were integrated with material on Islam and Minangkabau Culture. The results of this program 1. show an increase in student understanding of Islamic values ​​and Minangkabau culture. 2. During field studies, students are able to directly interact with the local community, visit historical places, and explore various aspects of Minangkabau culture and traditions. 3. Through discussion and reflection, students succeed in instilling Islamic values ​​in the local cultural context. In addition, this field lecture program also has a positive impact on the Pagaruyung community. With the student visits, the local community is more open to share their knowledge and experiences about Islam and their culture. The active involvement of the community also helps in mutual learning between students and the community. Although this program provides significant benefits, there are some challenges encountered during its implementation. Among them are budget constraints, logistics, and coordination with related parties. Therefore, it is suggested that this program continues to be developed and supported by all relevant parties to achieve more optimal results.

Abstract

Incorporating digital-based learning is crucial for fostering self-directed learning among students. Various digital media platforms, such as Google Classroom, Zoom Meetings, and social media, motivate students to actively engage in their studies. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Flipped Digital Classroom (FDC) method on student engagement and English writing proficiency. It employs a quasi-experimental 2x3 factorial pretest-post-test non-equivalent group design and collected data through the Student Engagement in Schools Questionnaire and an English writing test. The FDC group receives pre-recorded lectures, additional reading materials, and online writing assignments before face-to-face discussions, while the control group follows a lecture-based approach with assignments. The analysis involves 48 FDC students and 51 controls, categorized by engagement levels (high, medium, low). Validity and reliability tests are conducted on the questionnaire data, rated on a 5-point Likert scale, while English proficiency is assessed using an English Writing Test. Hypothesis testing utilizes descriptive and inferential statistics, including Two-Way ANOVA. The results indicate a significant 18-point increase in English writing scores for FDC students compared to controls. Furthermore, an interaction analysis reveals a considerable positive impact of method and engagement level on writing skills (p=0.00). English language instructors are encouraged to adopt the FDC method to enhance student engagement and academic achievement in English writing literacy through technology-based learning.
