Abstract

This research is based on still many students who have not reached the complete criteria for rigid body equilibrium material. Efforts to improve learning outcomes, an effective method is needed so that students are serious and try to solve problems in the learning process. The problem-posing method is a step to improve the results of teaching and learning activities. For this reason, the research aims to find out whether or not there is an influence of the problem-posing method on students learning and activity in learning physics. This research was carried out in 2 cycles from January to April 2016. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA 4 of SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru totaling 38 people. Research data was obtained through observation and evaluation tests. The results of the analysis showed that the learning activity of students in cycle II showed an increase compared to cycle I. Increasing activeness in asking was 54.8%, the ability to make questions 66.9%, the ability to solve problems made 63.7%, the ability to solve problems made by his friend 66.9%, and the ability to convey ideas 55.6%. The average class of each cycle also increased, in the first cycle was 82.1 and the second cycle was 86.74. Classical learning completeness in cycle I is 76.3% and cycle II increases to 92.1%. The results of the research analysis show that the problem posing method of learning is more preferred by students so that it can improve learning for students.

Abstract

Speaking is the active use of language to express meaning, and for young learners (especially primary school students), the spoken language is the medium through which a new language is encountered, understood, practiced, and learnt. Rather than oral skills being simply one aspect of learning language, the spoken form in the primary students‟ classroom acts as the prime source of language learning. However, speaking problems can be major challenges to effective foreign language learning and communication. English as foreign language (EFL) learners, no matter how much they know about the English language, still face many speaking difficulties. Many studies have indicated that oral language development has largely been neglected in the classroom, and most of the time, oral language in the classroom is used more by teachers than by students. However, oral language, even as used by the teacher, hardly ever functions as a means for students to gain knowledge and explore ideas. To develop the knowledge to deal with oral communication problems in an EFL context, researchers first need to know the real nature of those problems and the circumstances in which „problems‟ are constructed.

Abstract

This research aims to observe and analyze the use of technology to ensure the quality of teaching and learning by teachers. Technology plays an important role in teaching and learning activities. The maximum and effective use of technology encourages the achievement of the expected goals. This research focused on 108 senior high school teachers. Data of this research are collected through questionnaires filled in by the respondents. The data were then analyzed by using the descriptive approach, SPSS version 21 and Microsoft Excel. The research findings reveal that teachers’ orientation in using technology to ensure the quality of teaching and learning is making use of technology a medium to support teaching and learning activities, learning and following the current development of IT from various sources, making use of computers or projector for teaching and learning activities, and making use of programs or software to analyze learning outcomes. The average of effort made by the teachers is 4.25 (very high standard). It is an innovative strategy by senior high school teachers to maintain and even to increase teaching and learning standard so that learning goals can be achieved.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the students’mistakes based on Newman error analysis. Newman Error type consists of reading error, understanding the mattererror, the transformation error, processing skillserror, and writing down the answers errors. Qualitative research uses to descriptive describe the symptoms or the circumstances of the students in solving the matter on integral application. The research was conducted in the S-1 Study Program of Mathematics Education in 2017/2018 with the subject as many as 6 students who have low, medium and high competency respectively 2 students. The researcher gave two questions about the application integral to the students and then the results were analyzed and interviews were conducted to obtain information on students errors in solving problems. The analysis result shows that studentswith low competency experienced in reading error, comprehension error, transformation error, process skills error, and encoding error. This is because the students do not really understand the integral application materials. The students with medium competency in an underwenterror in process skills and writing the final answers. While the high-competence students had an error in writing the final answer. Overall, most students experienced errors at the stage of understanding the problem. This happens because the students do not read and understand the questions carefully so the students are not able to understand the matter. In the end the students make mistakes of writing down the answers

Abstract

This study aims to determine how self efficacy and performance of Equality Package tutors in Pekanbaru City SKB, is there a relationship between self-efficacy and performance in the implementation of learning tasks. The study was conducted in Pekanbaru city with respondents all tutors who were members of SKB Pekanbaru City who were honored 20 people. As a survey research, data using questionnaire (questionnaire). Data processed with percentages and results are: (1) self-efficacy with three dimensions, an average of 89.99% believe in their ability to adjust the tasks assigned to them. (2). The performance of tutors in carrying out learning tasks with four sub, averaging 82.35% who have carried out their duties (3) The link between self-efficacy and tutor performance, the results of which are data analysis with chi square using SPSS, that is, chi count of 0.333, df 1 and a significant accumulation of 0.564 with 0.05%. Chi Square table value at df 1 (0.05%) is 3.841. Thus the chi square value is smaller than the chi square table value, then the proposed hypothesis is rejected. There is a relationship between self-efficacy and tutor performance in carrying out learning tasks.

Abstract

The Contextual Teaching Learning Model (CTL) makes the learning process that emphasizes the process of student involvement in real life everyday. This study aims to determine the differences in students’ science learning outcomes using the CTL model. This research method uses Quasi-Nonequivalent Experiment of Pretest-Postest Design Group. This study was conducted on 56 students who each class amounted to 28 students. Based on the results of the study obtained the results of science learning students learn with the CTL model higher increase than those who study with conventional models. It can be seen from the gain index value in the CTL class of 56% which is the medium category, while the gain index value in the conventional class is 32% which is a low category. This shows that the CTL model can improve the learning outcomes of elementary school students in water saving and natural events.

Abstract

In order for science learning to be interesting and beneficial for students, science instructions must be oriented to the students daily environment. One way to link science instruction with the surrounding environment is by showing the application of scientific concepts to the appropriate technology. For students who live and study in coastal areas, the application of the concept of science should be linked to the sea that they observe every day. In this study a set of science learning media has been developed in the form of sea-wave power plant model. This model is designed so that it can visualize the process of using sea waves to produce electrical energy in the small scale. Expert assessment shows that the model of sea-wave power plant is declared valid so, it is suitable to be used as an instructional media for junior high school in science learning.
